- Blizzard has NEVER made a console games. Never. Not even diablo. The
only console game they were making was Starcraft: ghost and it got
canned. Now, however, they are tooling up for next-gen consoles. What
tell you we won't see WoW for xbox 360 next year?
Actualy, there is a Diablo for PS1.

The man has a point. there was starcraft but also diablo 2 for the PS1.

i think that blizzard will consider making WoW for the xbox 360.. i dont have a clue how they will make the controls work. because of the several moves that are needed to play.

any ideas on how they will map the controlers?

i do wonder how they will do the controls for WoW on the 360 tho. because for example my rogue the amount of moves i have to use to be effective. but also to every race! you have to use all of the moves to be effective

but how can you do this with a 6 buttoned controler?

well okay the xbox 360 is great, infact i'm playing call of duty 3 right now, but mmorpgs cannot go to the xbox because of all the chat windows different macros ect and all the different controls you need to use, it would be a miricle if you could even remember them. they are not like shoot em ups where you pull the right trigger to shoot and the x button to reload, its not as simple as that, it would be almost impossible to convert all those different abilities onto the xbox. i'm getting war for sure, and although i'm an xbox 360 addict, im never going to get it on the xbox.

I thought the 360 had ports for a mouse and keyboard.

Well the 360 does have ports for keyboard and mouse but COD on xbox was laggy as hell last time I tried it.

And make no mistake, despite what you may hear about the extra hard drive and the advanced board; the game WILL be the dumbed down version of the game; being that Mythic has a reputation of giving top notch graphics.

Also, lest we forget, xbox 360 appeals to a younger generation than a computer does. Sure, we might buy the same things, but if your average 14 year old plays xbox chances are he doesn't have a credit card to subscribe.

And then, lets say people are old enough for a credit card. What new audiance would Mythic be appealing to? Those who are willing to spend 14 bucks a month on an MMORPG most obviously would ALREADY have a computer. So why not just subscribe on their computer? So what new customers would they be getting here?

Guild Wars, I can see on the xbox. No monthly fee, new audience. But War? Safe to say non-gamers won't be flocking to this game like they do to WoW. It's just that type of game.

PC's are more advanced 90% of the time. So I'd rather not have a console port.

Also we use keyboards and mice :p

I think mmorpg's have to be dumbed down to be playable on consoles.

Lastly, EA Mythic knows that the big cash is in PC gaming as WoW demonstrated, so forgetaboutit, mmorpg's are PC stuff, and will be for a long time to come.

Hmm...I wouldn't mind WAR being built/ported for/to the 360...as long as they keep the 360 version completely separate from the PC version.  I only play online from the PC, but if its a great game (which I think WAR will be) then why not let the console community have a crack at it as well.

I do think the two have vastly different communities, although there is overflow each way.  So for the most part they should be kept separate.  That of course will cost a lot more to develop and maintain (two separate online communities), but if its a hit it will be well worth it.

what is the point in playing on the xbox 360 when you're going to use a mouse and keyboard. okay you might have a fat tv you might want to play it on instead of taking your laptop apart. but wtf man, you cant use msn or watever other programs you have running while playing wow ect on the xbox. to me there is not much point in playing it on the xbox apart from it being free. which it wont. think about final fantasy. that was on the xbox and you have to pay a tenner a month to play that; anyway the xbox have totally different types of gamers, they're the type that like fast action top ranking in the world and scream NOOB at you if you shoot them, not slow levelling up and pondering through dongeons to get a good bit of armour.take oblivion, awesome game, but everyone i know rushed through the storyline and completed it and traded it in for something else. me on the other hand i took my time over each side quest and explored lots of the hundreds of dongeons and got 950/1000 gamerpoints for it .

image keep war to the pc where it is at it's best and where most types of gamers appreaciate the time taken to make each corner of the worldimage

aaah, you mean dumbed down as in graphics. Well, where the heck you heard Mythihc having "top notch" graphics? you checked the screenshots? do they look like Oblivion? no? thought so. Beside, the game is always scalable, from bad to best. the Xbox version would fit in the "above average" section of the scale. Put that on a HD huge TV and you have an hell of a show.

And guess what? the xbox 360 run oblivion better than all but the most advanced pcs while costing 10 times less.

Credit cards are NOT NEEDED for MMorpgs from a while. ever heard of game cards?

But the point is: why not? why this hostility toward a console version? what happens if they do one? the world ends? The only problem i can see of a console version would be united servers.... that i hope mythic avoid, but that beside... there ain't negative sides.

I hope not, i would really not want to haveto rely on my healer having to heal me in combat when he has to controll his cursor with a thumb pad and takes him 3 minutes to say OOM.

Well the pre-release material for the PS3 had SWG included in it. Which is one reason why they probably introduced the NGE into the game. It made the game much more suitable for playing on an 8 button control pad rather then a 104 key keyboard.

And well we allsaw how thats turned outimage

PC gamers are the only consumers dumb enough to buy a product and expect a patch within a few months, so the game is playable. How many reviews have we read that says "No game is perfect1~!1~!!~!!!@ Wait for the patch!"? Sadly, I fdo buy PC games. I hate this type of attitude that my fellow PC gamers have. I think PC gaming is falling on hard times, because of our ridiculously low standards.

There is nothing wrong with console gamers. In fact, they get a better product. The only thing PC does is make good RPGs. I think the reason why online console gamers get a bad rep is because its free. If they had to pay then I bet the community would be far more mature. Even though, WoW throws that theory in the trash.

I prefer consoles because they don't require constant upgrading. When I bought my 360 I knew thats all I needed for at least 4+ years. When I play any online game on my 360 I know that the other guy is playing with the same setup I am.  The same isn't true for my pc. Constant upgrading is required to stay competitive and it just isn't feasible for me.

The 360 has 2 usb ports. The keyboard I know is usable from the dashboard, I'm not sure about mouse support.

There are also a number of mmo's in development for the 360. The marvel comics mmo and Huxley are the 2 I know of for now.

EA Mythic has WAR running on the 360. Mythic may wait a bit before releasing WAR for the 360, but it's inevitable.

Just a few thoughts.

I agree.  Although I love the 360 and think it is a great console, I feel that MMORPGs would be severly limited if they ever started to being released for consoles.  Of course I'm speaking of the big name MMORPGs.   Furthermore, the community would take a hit, as many young kids play consoles who may not grasp the full intent of MMORPGs.

I read where Microsoft are coming out with possible first party mouse and keyboards.

and... I too saw where they run WAR on the 360, especially at E3 06
