I am not sure how many of you looked into this but on Kali (Revelations I) test server they have completely redone character creation; as part of that process all new characters now start with 870k SP. What do you guys think about it?
From what i hear, 870k SP is like 4-6 weeks of time. So my char now is just getting isk, when i can makea new char, i will transfer everything over and this new char should be more advanced then my old one.
I'm getting my feet wet and getting some cash. I'm excited. I will earn my empire 1 ist at a time baby. Is it coming out nov. 28, it's what i'm hearing?

I don't play EVE atm, but if I were playing with my two 20m-ish characters, I honestly wouldn't care less about new characters starting with 800k of skill points. It's helpful for everyone. For new players, it helps them do things right out of the box, and jump into the game more easily. And for existing players, it provides the opportunity to create nearly instantly useful alts on the same account, for scouting, hauling and the like. It's good stuff all around as I see it.
Hopefully it will assist in removing much confusion on skill progression and character development for new players who are already fixated upon "grind to level" games.
My character has 13m skill points and I'm excited for this.
For one reason, it will assist me in making a viable alt while not having to forfeit my mains skill progression while advancing key skills to use a frigate.
I currently have been spending more time on Test then I have on Live. Anyone want to see my 400dps Coercer?

If it's days all you do is transfer your stuff to a new post-Kali character and that new character will have 3-4 weeks more skills and a beginning bank account ... no issues really. You lose nothing.
Well iam old in to the game so this will not effect me but this will be a good boost on the noobs, specially now that they can get 800k sp they can put on learning, witch i though was a pain in the ass.

Well except that now, even as a veteran player, you can have 800k SP alts on the same account.
I really don't care, my main account is specced with 10 mil sp in small ships. 400k more sp isn't that much, in small ships, It is player experience that counts the most. I relly like it when new players try to blob me with frigates. That works against big ships, but against destroyers, they all end up dying horribly.
They have a better system system that gives you a better idea of waht your getting skills for. That said the process is not much different from the current with just more skills added per choice.
I'd continue to play and if you want make a new character after the patch and transfer your assets over. You'll be far better off than someone that just started since you have a better understanding of the underlying game mechanics

True. I'll do that. I regret choosing Amarr anyway. I'd rather play Caldari. That said, I still think Amarr have the coolest backstory and ships - but I really, really prefer missiles over lasers.
I've only got around 5 mil sp but a boost to new players can't be THAT bad. I mean I had no idea what the F I was doing when I made my char but I stuck with him and I wouldnt trade him for anything.
No matter how much dmg you can do in creation it can be fixed. Just takes time.
On the tranq server I had something like 20 mil SP, on Sisi server (test server) I had 42 mil SP also additional skills added to test some of the rigs....
I dont see this as a problem for the older players, its just that the younger players have to spend twice as much time trying to catch up.
While I understand that quite a few newer players are frustrated at this sp boost for new characters post kali/revelations, in that these new characters will soar past them in sp gain if they have only been playing 4 weeks for example, but the ig experience these pre kali players will have racked up will mean they will be the winners in this when all said and done. If the pre kali toons still think they have been unfairly done too, then just make a new toon post kali, sorted.
For the older characters who think this is unfair, suck it up boys and girls, this action will help retain new people in EVE as it will be quicker and easier for them to fly the alleged "Fun" things. Tho, if CCP are loking for a solution to appeasing the vets, then what about a once only respec option of SP up to a 800k max so that vets can transfer SP from those now uneanted skills to areas more advantageous for them.
Whatever the outcome lets work together to keep EVE real, too many games (SWG to name but one) have gone to rat poo because DEVS have listened to the 1% of players(the whingers).
Keep in mind all those who have less than 800K SP, you will be bumped up after the patch. Unless you absolutly want to, you don't need to reroll a new character if you don't want to.
Found this out right before the servers went offline.

first off its 800-810 sp... and if you have created a toon a few weeks prior to kali you can infact get supplemented with the new sp boost.
The reason for this is because newer players feel that they should be handed everything on a silver platter and cannot seem to grasp the grit and seedy nature of this game
where as 2 years ago if you were flyin a raven you were a sight to fear.. now anyone will just about be able to jump into something like this.. but.. lol dont do it if you dont know anything about your racial traits.. thats all i have to say

"2.2- Operation: Revelations compensation The Mission: To compensate people that have less skill 800.000 skill points when we upgrade to the new character creation. Every character that has less than 800.000 SP will receive skills until he has more than 800.000 SP. Characters created a week before we patch will thus have the same amount of SP as new characters, or more. They will naturally also have the advantage over completely new characters of more ISK and of course experience.
The upside of giving every character this treatment (including inactive characters sharing accounts with a main character) is that everybody feels the love. Players that have been playing for a while will always have an advantage on freshly created characters, be it in ISK or simply in gaming experience.
2.2.1- How we will do this We have made a list of the primary skills of each school existing characters graduated from when they were created (Hedion University, Royal Imperial Institute, etc.). When we patch, we will go through them in order with each character and add skill levels to the skills listed in the order specified until the characters end up inside the 800-810.000 skill point range. There is some possibility that some old characters might go above that - It'll be like winning a lottery and we'll let it slide. 2.2.1.1- Cycling through the skills If a bump would take a player past 810.000SP, say from 790k to 830k, then that skill level is not added, but we look at the next skill in line for that school/race. This will be repeated as often as necessary or until the skills allowed have been depleted. In the improbable thing happens and the player has depleted the skills allowed (per school, per Race) and they have been cycled through, the pilot will still be bumped up a level so he is not left below 800k. Again, there is a slight chance that some character will ge.t a bit more than their share, but we'll live with that.
2.2.1.2- How we determined the skills The system we will implement is based entirely on the skill hierarchy of the new careers and specializations (that are again tied to the schools), built on top of what the character already had. Difference in emphasis between skills and similar schools is reflected in the current character creation. Upon creation, all existing characters graduated from a school that the user selected. That school, and through it the cultural background of the character dictates what skills are given. The exact list will not be revealed before we patch because it has a slight risk of being abused (even though time is limited). "
Hmm while they can do this to attract new players, i dont think its right or fair. Cause if this will be made precedence, what will be after kali 2, kali 3 and another expansions?
Will new chars after, for example, Kali 3 has 5mil SP ? Just because ppl playing since beta has 50mil ?

to bad for those who startet a new toon within the last month or two, but thats life.

Ok I hadnt time to look into that yet "but " 870k SP aint that much"
As for me who been in eve for a while I just see it as jumpstart
for new players not that 870k is that much for a new player either.

I've been playing about 5 or 6 weeks and am closing in on 1 mill SP, so what was said above sounds right. A good thing all round as far as I can see.
Have faith in God, believe in antimatter.
That's harsh. I started 10 days ago, and now have painfully attained 500k SP. Might aswell stop playing this character then, heh.
Good to know though.
What does it look like now? Can you actually choose where to invest those skillpoints in?
