it's not a contest over which game's have the most subcribers it's a contest of who has the best game. Eve and wow came out on top... eve is unlike any others out there and wow is king of elfland. if the tiny 200k players of eve love the game enough to pit it vs a mecha like wow maybe there's something going on over there eh?
yes our devs wear kilts but that's not all we have going for us Eve is an outstanding game has very very nice graphics and ravid pvp the likes of which mmos have never seen wow has 50bijillion players and eh raids...but you can't just ignore a game with that many people. it's the best of scifi vs the king of elf land and i look forward to the show down
pve content(pure player vs npc nothing else taken into account) i'd say neither belong there. past 60 wow is a full time job grind/raid fest. Eve while having good story behind the missions is repeditive. i'd give cov the nod over either of them for pve and i'm sure there are better pve games than that out there.
Eve may be weaker on the mindless npc department but that's because it's heart and sol is the actions and reactions of the players from aliance wars to the player run ship industry.
Eve has doubled in size this past year. i forsee star trek tacking a nip out of the growth for a short time but eve is so unlike anything else out there as long as it isn't negleted i can see it growing for a very long time.
Also a reason eve is still small is it's not for everyone. it's for a certian group and it continues to grow because it fills it extreemly well. eve is very complicated diverse and deep and it just to much for some people. Eve is not a friendly place. while the players are for the most part mature and respectfull they will blow you to hell take your stuff pod you and trot off laughing. some people can't handle that.
for those that fit and can get a handle on it there is nothing like it.

Dark Shikari was the poster and he is most certainly not a dev. that's another thing. people become famous and well respcted in eve. the corp that makes hundreds of the ships and weapons you use are well known. There are infamous pirates, famous merc squads and feared gigantic corps that everyone knows the name of. a few people might end up well known on other mmos but it's nothing like this. Eve is the only game i've played that has players as it's life blood

Disclaimer: there are a few here and there that just don't get it and refuse to leave or that have a stick in the wrong place in general but these make up a very very small part. some people leave eve cursing in flames with missles chasing them out the door. some only interact with npcs all day long and complain. others understand where the games soul is and join the above mentioned cult

It only one person votes all that matters is that one person's vote, but if all people vote then what matters is the majority opinion.
Can you honestly believe that if everyone voted for their favorite game that EvE would come out on top? The real voting was done already and it is called subscription numbers. That is the true measure if someone thinks a game is the best... They are willing to put the cash down to play it.

I've played games because they were the best i knew at the time. wow was once such a game. now i've moved on. While i was playing wow i would never of taken the time to bother voting or posting on these forums. eve has changed that.
Windows is the most used os in existance but many people wouldn't vote for it to win anything. all the subcription numbers tell you is that the game appeals atleast somewhat to a great many people.

You will never know for sure if the EVE community is more loyal and supportive then other games, for the simple fact other companies did not add that link to their website.

MMORPG.com isn't exactly the standard of ethics seeing as they allow Gold Farmers to advertise their services on this site. So as long as Eve keeps forking over the dollars to pay for banner ads, MMORPG.com will allow them to link directly to the ballot box.
In the real world, the People's Choice Award for Best MMORPG is voted for every month with World of WarCraft receiving more than 6 million votes each time! Sure it's easy for Eve fanboi's to create a 3rd, 4th or 50th FREE MMORPG.com account to vote up their game but when it comes down to real numbers by unique users WOW is clearly the king, everything else is wishful thinking.

Well, that's a silly statement. There's a lot of web sites that have gold farmer ads up. Yet, each gold farmer topic that I've seen gets deleted within 24 hours. Usually less than that.

Also stop acting like we're all nuts and that we are comming up with conspiracy theories. Nobody is saying that CCP or any other company is comming up with a conspiracy theory. CCP is almost begging its players to vote.
The reson Eve-Online totally dominates the voting is because of the huge Eve fan base thats here. CCP has advertised alot on MMORPG.com, and so alot of MMORPG.com reader's play Eve-Online.
Also, stop complaining its just a silly vote, all CCP gets is a fancy seal to put on their banners. MMORPG.com and Eve-Online's community arn't forcing you to play the MMO that wins. Get over it.
