But you get the idea. and yeah, I agree, its pretty sad. Making an mmorpg to a franchise really limits the possibilities, and, Imho, takes away a part of exploring. "Live your life and explore the universe of Star Wars now!" I don't need to explore, I already saw it in the movies!

You miserable buggers!, it has the potential to be the Sandbox game everyone is screaming for, far more than any of the other IP's mentioned above, especially with the comments the devs are making about not re-skinning WoW or SWG.
Firefly/Serenity was a gem amongst a sea of cookie cutter sci-fi (battlestar wasnt bad though), no reason why the game couldnt occupy a similar position.

We have the ultimate sandbox game on our hands, in the best IP ever. If and when this becomes a reality, I'm going to have to hire somebody to remind me to eat. The universe is perfect for a MMORPG. Complete Open endedness. Hell, I even wrote up a couple of features I thought the game should have a while back, and implementation. I think it would actually be pretty hard to screw this one up. I won't put it past them, but I'm pretty hopeful at the moment.
The main question will be, when it comes out, Stargate or Firefly?

I would totally play it......
Firefly is one of the greatest shows that was ever on TV. It is right up there with Space above and beyond. It has a built in plot for an MMO what with the independents VS the Alliance it could be awesome. It would be like mixing EVE with old school SWG in the firefly universe.
Sign me up.

Firefly universe really would make for a great MMORPG, but I wouldnt get too excited yet, seeing how nothing at all has come out of Multiverse so far.

Firefly was probably the worst "scifi" series I've ever seen, with the possible exception of Farscape. And I put "scifi" in quotes because there was absolutely nothing even remotely scifi in this space spaghetti western. It kinda figures that the guy behind it is the same one who is behind the timeless gem Buffy the Vampire Slayer; such vision, such depth.
All I can say is that I hope this game sucks monkey bollocks, it's about time this whole topic got buried 6 feet under.

THIS IS GREAT NEWS! I've been waiting for that for 4 friggin years! This is awesome! I truly hope it will emphazise on roleplaying and party(crew) making. Imagine having your own crew of players walking around inside your ship. Awesome.
Sure it may seem yet another franchise to non firefly fans at first but the firefly verse is so dense!
If they pull it off and have good devs thise has a LOT potential.
Lets hope the team is capable!
j/k.. never heard of those multiverse guys, so I'm not too excitid just yet, though I really dig the show.
Again you prove you know nothing of the Firefly universe and it's history. Firefly has a more complex world and character developement than in a show I've ever seen. FOX aired it in wrong order, and their trailers made the show look like steven seagal in space + horses. People had a hard time following the developement and many weren't interested as sometimes they postponed the show. Besides it had a crap airing time.
Also, about that opinion, it's quite obviously not about how many didn't see the show, it's about how many saw it and didn't like. I've never met one irl that saw the show and thought it was crap.
