    Greetings from Brazil,

I disagree with most ppl here trying to make WoW a boring game for childrens. Thats not true, i play mmo for a long time and WoW is far the most fun for me. I believe the secret of sucess is the world that blizzard presents in their games since warcraft1 and diablo. Most players like this kind of world, some D&D like and unique blizz creatures and stuff. Its what makes wow so great. I have friends that played adicted UO long time ago and they were flaming wow telling me that its a UO copy in 3D. I convinced then to play wow and now they have other vision of the game. WoW got features that no other mmo has and the pvp system is so much better than any other i played.

As a reply for Wow being a game for children, i disagree with that. Some ppl on this forum already said most of their friends are 20+ and so are my friends. I dont have any RL friend or any friend in WoW that is under age 20. Most of them are married, working or at least in university. I dont think wow as a children game cause kids want simple games not complex games and wow is much more complex than most ppl think.

Im gonna end here cause my english sux and im going to play wow now! ;)

        /cheer to everyone

    8 million?

the population of london is only 7,465,100. And the population of new york is just over 8 million.

Thats a lot of gamers, dear me

I predict an increase of 50% after the expansion.

That's how it has been for all the other MMO's.

Its total accounts created.  They are doing what Guildwars is doing, except they are not saying "total accounts created" and considering them all "subscribers".

Guildwars has 3 million subscribers in Blizzard terms!

The definition of insanity: doing the same thing over and over expecting different results.

ALWAYS make sure you get your facts right before you post, because your posting bullshit right now.

Now, Look at this part and READ it aloud, to make sure you will never forget it again.

"World of Warcraft customers include individuals who have paid a subscription fee or purchased a prepaid card to play World of Warcraft, as well as those who have purchased the installation box bundled with one free month access. Internet Game Room players who have accessed the game over the last thirty days are also counted as customers. The above definition excludes all players under free promotional subscriptions, expired or cancelled subscriptions, and expired prepaid cards. Customers in licensees' territories are defined along the same rules."

make sure your facts are right.

    @Gameloading

Its amazing how many stupid people run around on this forum. I don't know where they get there information.

Just to emphasize on Gameloading quote take SPECIAL notice to the part that says EXCLUDES that means does not count in case some of you need to know that and if you still dont understand here is the definition for it.

    tr.v. ex·clud·ed, ex·clud·ing, ex·cludes

    1. To prevent from entering; keep out; bar: a jar sealed to exclude outside air; an immigration policy that excludes undesirables.

    2. To prevent from being included, considered, or accepted; reject: The court excluded the improperly obtained evidence.

    3. To put out; expel.

I cant tell if you are agreeing with Gameloading or ripping on him.

Gameloading is saying exactly what you just said and that is, that World of Warcraft does not count people under free trials or expired acounts as customer subscribers.  Thefefore as someone said before its likely they have actually sold 20 million if you use Guild Wars Definition.

Which is to me is an almost unbelievable number.  I wonder how many are in the US?  Is there really any room for them to expand, because it seems almost every person that would likely play WoW has already played it?

I have read that before.  Blizzard is a private company.  Private companies can be sly like that.  Its something you learn in the business world, and before you say "why not sue for false advertisement", are you Bill Gates?  If not, you wont have the cash to do it.

The definition of insanity: doing the same thing over and over expecting different results.

WoW is a great gateway MMO.

It teacher unfamiliar players MMO basics pretty effectively in my opinion.

I applaud WoW and Blizzard for being able to draw in so many new customers.

Just remember though folks, one day, people will start getting sick of WoW, and you'll have tons of ex WoWers to play with. I think it to be a good thing, as we'll likely have less empty and more demanding MMO's in the future!

Waiting for something fresh to arrive on the MMO scene...

Your correct.  But a gateway MMO isnt a good thing !

WoW appeals to the casual gamer, because its easy and fun.  But what happens when the WoW community migrates to other, more "hardcore" MMORPGS?  You have a bunch of assclowns ruining the game.  Not all of the WoW community is a total asshole, just most

Overall, WoW is a solid decent MMO, I really do like it.  I just despise the overall community and blizzard's account management (And the endless hours of raiding at endgame just to compete with other players).  Ever had your account compromised?  Prepare to have a semi-heart attack when you see the 20 pages you have to fill out to get it unlocked

Age of Conan, Vanguard, Warhammer, Darkfall, and other MMO titles are what im looking forward to.   Im just hoping the majority of the WoW community will stay with WoW and not move on. (Unless they stop acting like 6th graders)

Community, the most important factor to a MMO.
