There are over 100 asian MMORPG's. you played 5 of them, yet you seem to think you can stereotype them. nice going.
please tell us of the fantasy based (martial art or sword and sorcery) MMO conversions which do not fit the grindfest stereotype... NET, Aion, Corta, Uncharted waters online and for the upcomming release, Aion & KOEI Korea,. just to name a few.
Although why do I even bother, you probably never even heard of those every before.

Aion (NCsoft) certainly looks very pretty - and looks like it will be developed along the lines for more western tastes (e.g. player driven content) - though i dont know if this means it will fall into the catergory of "MMO conversion"
though im glad you posted - i was hoping that someone would show that my dire experiences with every asian-developed MMO to date doesnt necessarily mean they all will be - hope the day comes soon when we the west sees a good non-grindfest
well not all are the same. Crafting really is over rated, out of all the peeps i have ever known in all the games i have played all have said that craft is BS and crap. I tend to agree, crafting is nothing more then a time sink for nothing at all. By spending a little time grinding you can acquire much better stuff then crafting at all. The craft system was fine back when the mmo genre came out but now it is useless.

And we're supposed to believe that (that noone you know or knew liked crafting...)
I used to make bucketloads of money in EQ2 with crafting (mastercrafted stuff), and it is a nice and good complex thing to do - even a good chance to escape from the constant adventuring/grinding for a time, if you like. In EVE, research+crafting is whole complex world.
It is funny to see how some people are so convinced of themselves that they already know the Final and Ultimate and One and Only Truth ("but it is now useless").
WOW (and that's not a game

Denial makes one look a lot dumber than he/she actually is.
Ive played a few now (Hero Online, Carpe Diem, KAL Online, Archlord, 9Drags) and they all seem to suffer the same problems.
no craft, therefore no community interdependence, therefore not much ingame community
and no RPing (hence MMO not MMORPG)
no centralised auctuion house type thingy requires AFK shops or sell to npc for peanuts
except Archlord
no / little character customisations - your char always ends up looking like everyone elses
sure 9Dragons and Archlord have some, but chars still all tend look the same
storyline / questing are all thin on the ground or unsatisfactory in terms of XP and providing reasons / answers to the point of the game, which limit the games to... grind, grind, grind - sooner, or even earlier than that, they all boil down to farming the same mobs over ond over again before moving on to the next lot to farm combat, whichever classes you play, the combat quickly becomes repetetive reducing players to automatons, so much so they are often replaced by.... bots, as well as gold farmers and the rest of the MMO dregs that stick to these games like flies to sh1t
all that said, if u like Grindfests 9Dragons is the one to go for by a mile (at least till Archlord goes ftp, but you'll still need to pay for the client, or perhaps 2moons will break the mould [with swearing at least])
so what you're saying is you want all foreign games to be like american games? rofl!!! if u hate playing foreign games why even start playing beta version in the first place?
