Click to move is the WORST possible thing to happen with most of these Asian MMO's. It takes away from the interactivity SOOOOO much and makes the grinder genre that much more horrid to play. I will stop playing a game generally right after I install it once i see it's click to move. Im giving this one a bit of a chance but things aren't looking up.
Would it seriously kill these designers to add in a WASD or even Arrow Key system of movement...or even just a locked follow camera?

Greatness is difficult to appreciate from close up. The great mountain on the horizon is only the ground when you are standing on it.
This is a MAIN aspect of eastern games, Korea for example think that way, play with 1 hand.
Westerners usually prefer using both hands.
This will always be clashing; I don't see an easy way around. Westerners usually like to feel immersed in the game, using and needing to use both hands really does matter a LOT. I honestly don't see a way to conciliate both play styles, except maybe making differents servers and letting the peoples pick the easy 1 hand or the "hard" 2 hands servers.
Korea is passing time/socialising, West is PLAYING. Someone playing will always prefer using both hands and a more immersive setting, while someone "casual" about the game (casual in term of requirements of your attention and effort to play, aka not time, Korea spent as much time than the west playing), will rather keep 1 hand free to smoke, drink, phone, whatever else not related to the game.
PS: Maybe a "joystick" played with the feets could replaces WASD in Korea and work well, I don't know. I am nearly certain such a joystick wouldn't be successfull in NA, can always try and see, but shouldn't expect much success...NAers like WASD. Even RPGers like me who hardly ever play a shooter. Such a joystick keep a hand free for smokers and Korean markets...and this market seem wild enought to me to actually enjoy such an innovation...maybe I am wrong however...anyway, moving your character with your feets IS immersive, leaving the mouse or the keyboard for action, played with hands, again IS immersive. The "Joystick" for the feets could take the position of 1 (or both) feets to determine in which direction you move or if you strafe or whatever...1 feet ahead = walking...2 feets = running...1 feet in the corner left and another just ahead = running and leaning on the right...anyway, it is immersive. You don't want buttons for the feets, just the overall position of 1...or both! But a button could be for jumps, yet, I don't like the idea of a button, feets are "powerful" and joysticks are not, so removing the button is a bright move as you remove 90% of the stress use on the joystick for the feets. I see it as a HUGE box, just considering feets positions...

There are only a handful of MMO's that use the point and click to move, it's more popular in 2D isometric games than 3D mmo's because of the need in most of the mainstream games to react quickly to any situation you may find yourself in, imagine point and click to move in a hectic PVP battle with hordes of players around you and you find yourself instead inspecting or attempting to trade with another player.
For me these types of movement controls are a real turn-off, I shall stick to the main-stream MMO's
One of my top 3 favorite games of all time was Lineage2, so i got used to the play style (click to move). Now i can do either equally well and consider myself a better gamer for it. But yeah if you dont like it, dont play it, works for me
Currently Playing: WoW (somewhat)
Testing: None
Played: WoW, CoV, AL, SWG, VC, EVE, SWToR
I agree that click to move really is stupid in a 3D game, but if you can't jump or fly, it's not much of a problem. I also prefer games that require both hands to play - at least having to use keys for spells/items; an MMORPG would be pretty boring if everything just involves clicking... although, a gestures system would be kinda interesting...
Not a fan of click to move either. Maybe because many games labeled mmorpg with click to move have all the gameplay of 1] click to move 2] click mob 3] repeat ad nauseam. Had alot of fun with shadowbane (was/is click to move) though.
Um... if anything is lame and cartoony, it isn't 9dragons. This game actually has proper martial arts moves.
If it weren't for Slouis's post, I'd be installing the game right now. As soon as I found out it was click-to-move, I decided against playing it. You might have found it annoying, but it saved me valuable time.
If you're so horribly traumatized by negative comments, I recommend not reading them. It was easy to tell from the subject line that this would not be a positive post.
Wrong, leftpond2... Click to move is the "old way" of the cheap, small games. It causes problems when the mouse pointer is needed to target mobs or PC's or items. For instance, you see a monster out there you want to check for level, you move mouse pointer and click. You missed him, suddenly you're on the run to a spot right next to him, and then (and this is a special of 9Dragons) a bunch of other mobs suddenly appear because of the slow speed of the generation from the server, and you've just run into the middle of them. The black panthers are notorious for this, and they agro and beat the crap out of your OC2 character before you can get Lightfoot going.
WASD, or keyboard arrow keys, for movement has long been accepted as the better way to go, and is used by most of the MMORPG's that aren't just translations of cheap Asian games. (Cheap is relative, by the way).
Glad to help!

The monsterlevels are colour coded... What do you wanna check? The level of the monster? LOOK AT THE COLOUR OF IT'S NAME!!!!!!!
i really don't understand how someone can miss with the mouse...
Come on... Give me a break!
Doesn't matter whether or not you understand, dhrddm (whatever that is).... the fact remains that point-click movement is old, cheap, and generally laughed at, it doesn't work as well as WASD/arrow keys, it's interfered with by other point-click operations necessary.
The names of the mobs are color coded. Fine... I click them at longer range when their names are not showing. And it's possible that I'd like to click them without the click causing me to run to them, sometimes.
And don't use caps. And it's "color".
And !!!!!!!! is pretty lame.
Understand this.
Kalmenicus doesn't play point-click movement games. He probably thinks that's "so 8 years ago".

I'm putting up with it, even with the point and click movement. I dislike it, especially around lots of other players, and it's gotten me killed by the "guard" npc's in a couple of places when they were closer than the quest npc I was trying to click.
I still enjoy the game, it's different from the other MMORPG's that I'm playing/beta-testing. And, the price is right, too.
Kalmenicus gives grammar and spelling lessons, but it's not free for MMORPG.com

Get out of your box already...
LOL!
I'm used to point move and WASD! both of the controls works for me...but its new generation!...MMO's should apply controls that players could decide if they like WASD or P to move.. This would solve the problem if it will be implemented in the future or future patches haha...
ne ways i've tried 9dragons and i like the graphic compared to other free to play mmorpg. The game economy is good. im playing it now x_x.
