STRONG recommendation here. Been looking for some time for a game to hold my attention for longer than 20 minutes. Open free beta - try this game, you will like it.

My OC-12 Spirit Beggar - Drunken Boxing Fighter gives it 2 thumbs waaaay up.

I'll try it out while it's still free...I hope it's good. I've heard some mixed reviews, but then again there are people out there who still play WoW, so I gotta try it out!

i tried it for about 15 minutes before going to bed last night, and agree. i only just got it installed and patched, but it looks good. i wish i could move using WASD intstead of clicking everywhere, but it looks pretty polished.

I'm impressed with this game so far.  It's very polished and does not feel like a beta at all.  I'm a big fan of martial arts (wu xia) series and the kung fu moves here in 9Dragons look authentic (though I've only characters in Wu Tang and Shao Lin so far).  The plot is engaging, though the quests seem simple, much like WoW's, but hopefully that will change in the higher levels and as more quests get added to the game (I like quests like in Anarchy Online which are rich and complex, instead of just finding items or killing a certain number of monsters).

Wait till you get to the Sun and Moon levels. Holy smokes.

I really like this game too I just wish it was a little faster paced. The grinding feels like flyff where you have to "chip away" at enemies. Even with str/dex building right now, (I'm using fist/foot weapons would that have something to do with it?) I don't feel a tremendous sense of power and I find it takes too much dex to crit even rarely. Other than that this game has an enormous amount of variety and I'll need to explore further so I can flesh out a better judgment.

I like this game because ive not played an MMO like it. I Agree with the grind aspect, hell i dont mind grinding if i know that end game PVP is good. I have not experienced PVP in this game yet I know that there is a duel type system, how big are the area's and is there anything to fight for or hold. I would love to partake in an epic clan fight in this game ! Can anyone shed any light on the PVP experience

@ lumyn - Go play a cheaper game if you dont wanna work for something good. Like a childs game.

As for myself, I absolutely adore this game and its challenges. True, I've almost died already, but heck! At least you can die. Keeps it real. I  love the fact that you can't get everything right away, that you have to wait for certain levels before getting something. I love everything about this game, actually =p

I think that once it's a "complete" game, it'll be amongst the most popular of its time.

I am really liking this game, while the learning curve may be a little steep comparing to most mmorgs out there, even though I find the steering by mouse alone just a tad annoying (and tiresome for my wrist). The grinds go quickly once you get a hang of it, the interface works, and it looks great. And I absolutely LOVE the fact that you become better at your skills by using them (as opposite to advancing in levels alone) also lightfoot is an awesome way to travel. Once you get a hang of the economy (and collectors) the game really begins to shine.

    @previous poster:

I come from wow myself, I have got 5 60s and am in endgame (naxx) guild, I am waiting for TBC atm and I have to say that TBC better be DAMN good, if I am to leave 9Dragons to go back to playing wow again. Just my personal opinion. :)

Yep this game is great though there is quite a bit of grinding once you reach the Revolving Chakra levels, though its nowhere near as bad as Grindroad  I mean Silkroad, the skills are good and even though there is a shortage of quests, more should be added soon.  As for pvp, I heard from Vietnam and Korean players that there are awesome large scale pvp clan battles.  Also the pvp servers should be up pretty soon.  This game has some great potential and so far Acclaim is doing a good job with it.

In this game quests aren't important for the most part. You get crap xp and there isn't any special to them.

Combat is mostly old style where you click to start then sit back and watch. There is limited interaction. There are a few choices in terms of specials but its very limited.

Mob ai is primitive and the pathing is bad.

Fights get to be insane. Even simple mobs often require you to rest after a battle. Some much are much much tougher, but there isn't always a clear way to tell. One type of bear might be easy, while another in the same area kills you in a couple of hits.

There is a big grind and it only gets worst as you level.

There is more, but if you don't mind any of the stuff already listed then you will likely enjoy the game.

Bottom line is, in the land of the blind, the one eyed man is king. With so many bad games of this type, one that is even slightly better seems amazing.

Mob ai is primitive....then how are the fights tough?

If you click to start the fight then just sit back and watch, its no wonder you're having such a hard time. While I admit the combat isn't revolutionary, skill use is important.

There is always a clear way to tell how tough mobs are....you must not have been paying attention. Mobs below your lvl appear as blue or green, mobs your lvl appear in white, slightly higher is yellow, and way higher is red....does it get anymore clear than that???

Other than that your gripes are legit. Its fine if you don't like the game, but at least paint an accurate picture of why you don't like it.

The game actually offers a lot. It actually has separate story lines (Quests of dragon, enlightenment, collection, etc) along with the advancement in your chosen school. My one complaint with the game is that all of these things are tied directly to your characters level. If they allowed you to pursue all of these things seperately and at my own pace this game would be much better.

All in all, I like the game a lot. It is a free game so anyone that is skeptical should at least give it a shot.

I love this game. I've never bought a game with a monthly fee because I usually bounce around form MMO to MMO, but I'm definately buying this game weather there's a monthly fee or not. When you create a different character it almost feels like your playing a different game (as long you join a different clan). I strongly recommend this game.

the grind does start to get harder after Revolving Chakra 7. but shortly after that (Revolving Chakra 12), the quests begin to throw huge amounts of exp at you making the grind a bit easier again. it also helps to party. if you have a decent healer, the healer should be able to keep the warrior going MUCH longer.

The only thing this game needs is ALOT more quest's so there isnt all that grinding it's beginning to bore me but i think that there will be alot more quests when the game is not in beta anymore, and why are everybody talking about this game as it were free its only free if you choose the acclaim version and then there will be adds, itemmall !!! PW version will (dont know 100%) on monthly fee.

and then i think monthly is alot better... you will expect alot better customer service when youre paying for the game!!!

    Thanks

i think that's pretty nice game, the idea is good, but it's one thing that is annoying me. nearly all quest are basing on grind.

I am now at a RC 11 Sacred Flower Mistress of War and i have to say it is a simple but nice game .. but there a few things that need adjustment. Atm the XP curve is INSANE. This game has currently like 220 Levels i am in 47 and i already need about 4-5 hours constant grinding to get a level. PPL in Raising Light or even the Sun levels need about 1 day to get one level. i wont even try to imagine the grind to get level 200. Thats a real bummer in this game.

The huge advantages of 9 dragons are

    - easy to learn

    - very good and unique animations for each combat style

For all out there who want to try out a mmorpg it is a nice and i can recommnded it. For ppl who like more complex games (like me) and think that grinding is not content this game wont be paradise but it is a nice snack between waiting for some real MMORPGs ... even tho i cant see any atm out there.

why not just put the game out full version right now??? geez lighten up.  Pre-Beta ppl.  The game is great and can be addicting.  As for ads, hell I won't mind ads, I rather play free games with ads with the feeling knowing I have a choice to buy or pay for something if I want or not and know I can still play.  Which, I'll probably buy for item mall if it helps my character in any way.

WoW, if your cash is short the next month and can't Pay you can't Play.  I know cause i have several friends that this has happen to, but they got some cash up now and getting ready for the X-pac tonight, I wish them luck I know they'll probably call in for the next 3-4 days...lol

Do you really think Acclaim customer service is going to be poor because there's no monthly fee?  Maybe you should stroll on over the Acclaims forums and get active if you haven't.

As for the previous guy that mentioned something about WoW and your panties got all bunched up.  Chill! it wasn't a put down from what I read and it was forgotten until you brought it up again and I noticed you didn't contribute anything to the topic, congrats!

PW=Persistant World the Europe version, which will be a monthly fee from what i can tell so far.

Yes, the experience slows down as you level up, but I don't know any mmo isn't the same way.  The game is meant to last not be over with in a matter of weeks. I haven't had a problem with exp so far I'm RL10, but I am not concerned for the leveling my character so much as I am concerned with leveling the chengs of my skills.  No point, rushing level to level with Level 2 cheng skills, trust me the chengs are just as hard to level and just as important if you plan on kicking ass in pvp or pve.  Don't worry so much about leveling fast, get you some grinding music, find a group or not set a goal for yourself that day such as getting a skill to Cheng 4, the leveling will take care of itself.  I try not to get in share groups cause people near my level aren't out for group help they are about themselves.  So, I rather solo when I can so I know what I'm getting done and not have to depend on others to help or there's only like 5 people in a share group and that's just pointless unless it's individual.

    Great game, a must try

PS, no diss towards WoW only truth so don't come back and say "don't turn this into a flame contest" thx
