I do not mean to sound at all condescending but you have a hard time articulating your words into coherent readable content. You sound like some sort of 9 year old 'noob' if i will.
Let me address the facts here.... Because people refuse to do it..
Not only is Guild Wars Better then WoW, Wow is bordering on the worst game being played right now....
Years and years of game making experience from other developers blatantly ripped off by execs at Blizzard Entertainment and created a bland and boring mass appeal piece of garbage...
There isn't one piece of programming in the game that can be considered complex... If anything the only pluses it has is its simplicity.. Having a large feature set on bullet points is in no way complexity you may want to look up the meaning of the word. WoW is a perfect time sink for a demographic of gamers who either don't know better or have sold out. Flam me all you want this is truth. The game polutes the gamer base and causes the world of video games to be diluted and ultimately WORSE... Focus on quantity and not quality should be the motto for the game. It's pure novelty and your alllll in love with novelty.... So go read a book or two like Fahrenheit 451... You are lost in th novelty of bull shit....
Guild Wars is a game for gamers who still intend on being good at games and increasing their skill as a gamer... Not stagnating in the filth of 7 million 13 year old boys...
"gw is better than WoW" eh? urm care to explain why and give some evidence instead of wailing and shouting at me? and even if one piece of programming in the game cant b considered complex, when they are all added together they all make the game complex... like many people you are only taking one or two parts into account, you need to use every part of the game when comparing. and if u want me to look up the word complexity then this is not the time or the place, we are debating what is better, gw or wow, not a persons knowlege. and i obviously do "kno better" bcoz like i sed ive played gw b4 and i do own all 3 campaigns but i still prefer wow, i do realise that there are a few people who say "wow is good and gw is poo" and hav never played gw in their lives and that is not me, and i dnt see how wow makes the "world of video gaming" worse one bit, and i dnt realy wanna go read a book like farenheight 451 and i aint doing! lol and the whole idea of games in general is to enjoy urself, not to get amazingly good coz that wont get u far in life... and ur saying that 7 million 13 yr olds play wow lol, i dnt think so. sure a small percentage of the 7m are u16 that is no problem, blizzard have made a game suitable for all ages *applauds blizzard*. so i suggest before u go calling me a "9 yr old 'noob'' i suggest u think how u look posting messages like that what are totaly off topic
1337 ftw pwned lolz you are good at 1337 no douth about it why do you want to discuss if wow is better then gw anyway if you are so sure wow is better , then good , enjoy your game and stop wasting energy in guildwars foruns
see , you dont even know that guildwars as +/- 1100 skills
you are making your selfe look ridiculus with your comments
well list these "1100" skills and enlighten us and i would like to kno if theres a problem with my comments, i posted evidence with every comment ive said and... u havnt

I'm not going to list them all but there is approx. 1000-1200 skills in the game currently.
Skills are broken down into profession-specific lists. I'm not going to count, because quite frankly I don't care. By enlighten did you mean provide what you could've obtained in less than 2 minutes and about 8 keystrokes?
To say that one game is "better" than the other is an openion at best from anyones point of view.
I like GW better but I base that on my openion, you can disagree and I am fine with it!
I can't believe this has gone on this long. WoW is a good game but it's not for everyone.
GW is a good game but it's not for everyone.
GW and WoW are both good yet different games leave it at that.
As for GW not being an MMO who is to say it isn't ? Is there a governing body that is in charge of classification on these things? I Didn't think so! So yet again that remains openion based. In short the things being argued here are openions not facts that we can proove validity on. So go play your respective games and stop the insanity.

lmao if thats wot neoteo meant by the word 'skills' then they are called spells/abilitys in the wow world (skills are things like weapon masterys and afk skills like blacksmithing or mining e.t.c). ok so gw has 1000-1200 abilitys/spells but has absoloutley 0 skills. wow on the other hand has a lot more abilitys/spells anyway. i forgot that gw calls things differentley, boy is my face red lol

I agree. This topic heading was a rather poor choice. The word "better," in this sense, is for opinions. Just b/c one game is more complex doesn't make it "better" than another game. Also, just b/c 7+ million people play it, which is quite an amazing feat, doesn't mean that a game is better than another, it simply means more people like it. And as ianmcc stated, people play games b/c they want to have fun.
I have played both games, and enjoyed both. However, after a time, I stopped enjoying WoW, so therefore stopped playing WoW. I still enjoy GW, so I play it. To really and truly know which game is better, you have to play them both, or research them both and find out which one fits your personal playing style better.
yes! i also agree, it is totaly up2 personal opinion and people shouldnt try to change other peoples opinion and let them find out wich game they want to play on their own so i am gonna leave this thread and just let anyone who wants to rant that one is better than the other to just rant on their own. wow and gw arent worth causing "wars" over and argueing at such intensity and i aint that bothered about people who prefer gw as long as they dnt call any1 who plays wow.
i prefer wow bcoz i play PvE and i think wow is better for PvE players... so sue me if u disagree lol.
edit: and i dnt want any1 commenting on this post if u can help it...
It seems to me that the major difference often cited in comparisons of WoW and GW is PvP. PvP is entirely different between the two games. I think if you are a diehard PvPer and that is your main focus then you will likely prefer GW. If you are seeking more traditional MMO content (i.e., grouping, questing, crafting, more community involvement and interaction) then WoW will appeal to more of your interests.
I've played both WoW and GW.
One thing I must point out though is that PvP in its current form in both WoW and GW is essentially meaningless. Without real and serious death penalities PvP brings little importance other than just to 'pwn' your fellow player which can get rather lame rather fast. If more serious death penalties are introduced into MMORPG's, like in Eve, then I think PvP will really come to mean something. Killing for the sake of killing with the only death penalty being how long you're out of the fight until you can rez, or just not being able to kill again makes PvP meaningless to the point of being a waste of time.
I think though that if serious death penalties were brought to games like WoW and GW then PvP would become increasingly less popular over time. All these players would become oh so careful of all their uber items , armor and weapons, skills and faction.
Give me serious death penalities, or grant me liberty from such meaningless PvP.
In DiabloII our answer to that was the Hardcore server/character. I think that's the ONLY extent this kinda thing should ever be taken to. The UO freaks or whoever, ought to be able to go to their own little servers or arenas or whatever if the -15% per-death in GW isn't enough for them. Nomatter what they say, it doesn't change the fact that most normal people stay AWAY from PvP when getting Ganked in it means they lose progress or gear. Even if people are willing to accept harsher Death Penalties, they'll only risk them when they're totally maxxed out or feeling pumped up and that ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS means that the population generally PvP less frequently, a LOT less.

Good for you, atlast you can stop flaming GW people, I doubt that you would stop it, but hey! Miracles happens! I agree with your part though GW and WoW and all other MMOs for the sake of god is not worth starting "wars", basicly one think I hate the MMORPG.com is that 4 out of 5 is pure idiots, going onto other mmorpgs voting them down and flaming their players, basicly most people from all communities do it EvE,WoW,GW,EQ2, DAoC etc. I only begin to flame if is the person is totally idiotic or rude against me but I only use it as a last resource or weapon.
I would just wish WoWers would stay at the WoW forum and GWers at the GW forum.

May it were a good idea to read the skills? yes and I mean Skills and Spells:
Here we got a Skill:
Headbutt: Type: Elite Skill -Skill Attribute: strength, look under the warrior profession.
Searng Flames: Type: Elite Spell - Attribute: Fire magic, look at the elementalist Profession.
and of course we got Stances, Signets, Touch-skills, shadow steps, melee attacks, ranged attacks etc.
As most MMO's with no monthly fee, GuildWars is crowded with kids and rude people who dont know how to behave. I was not very impressed with the WoW community either (not even on the rp servers), but its still way better that the community on Guild Wars imo.
...But yes! in the end its all a matter of personal oppinion of course. Personally I more into the RP part of MOO's than competitive gaming so my oppinion to the subject can hardly surprice anyone.

Yes, you got banned for showing a picture of the pope saying STFU. I thought it was funny, but this isn't the place for that. This is a place where people can discuss MMORPGs, ideally, through intelligent debates. I'm sure that people found that picture offensive and/or an attack on their religion, which is not the purpose of this website. So don't get pissed off at the moderators/admins, they just want to keep their website from being too offensive. And as for them controlling the list or not, so what?
All this chatter seems really interesting. I'm a fairly new player to gw and a longtime player of WoW. I have to admit if your looking for a challenge in an online game this is it. To give my opinion I would consider this an MMORPG number one you still actively interact with other people even though less frequently. Second who cares if it doesn't have a monthly fee? Some games are free altogether. It's just the way the company wants to make money. Hey! Personnaly not pulling money out of my pocket every month feels great.
I had to laugh at how many replys there are to this post. The poster has posted 1 message, the troll that started this discussion and did it in the GW forums. (sidenote: seeing that this is a "hot" topic, does that make this person a "one post wonder"?) Why not the WoW forums? It could be the sign of a WoW fanboy conspiricy trying to confuse the enlightened GW masses and rile them up into a frenzy to defend their beloved game, all the while, leaving the servers less the couple of people posting here to decrease the logged on user base to once again show the dominance of WoW in the market as it has been having players defect from the awesomeness of WoW in troves heretofore unseen in the history of online gaming! ..well it could be that, maybe, couldn't it?

For the record, blacksmithing or mining are called trade skills and have no influence whatsoever on the actual complexity of the class you're playing.
Masteries are listed among skills in many games (like Ragnarok Online), but they're specifically called passive skills because you can't "use" them as they simply influence your attack/defense/other skills. GW replaces that with Attributes, that a player can assign and redistribute at any time; for example, the attributes for a Warrior are: - Strength - Swordsmanship - Axe Mastery - Hammer Mastery - Tactics Rings a bell, doesn't it? Also, skill "ranks" in GW are directly determined by such attributes.
Then come the actual Skills that you can "use" (what you call spells/abilities). In Guild Wars there are several types, each with different mechanics: for example, you can use Sword Attacks while on a Stance but you can't use two Stances together, an Off-Hand Attack must follow a Lead Attack (save for a few exceptions), etc.
Here's the complete skill list of the Warrior class for the first chapter of GW only:
WoW never seemed that complex to me. You got a set amount added to your attributes at each level, and were able to learn almost every spell/ability for your class (except the few that required certain talent points). Also, when you went into battle, you had access to every single spell/ability. Hell, you could have them all on hotbars if you wanted. In GW, however, the player decides how to increase or decrease his/her own attributes, and not simply for one class, but for both their primary and secondary professions (or "classes"). Also, in GW, as opposed to WoW, you have to look at all your skills, then choose 8 that you think will make a good combo, and those are the only 8 skills you can use in battle. So in GW you really have to know what skills go together to make good combos, whereas in WoW you don't have to worry about it, you have all your spells/abilities at your disposal.
So, if a more complex game is what makes a game better for you, then, in my opinion, the better, more complex game would be GW.

And I'm only getting started, characters in GW are dual classed. Need I go on?
WoW never seemed that complex to me. So, if a more complex game is what makes a game better for you, then, in my opinion, the better, more complex game would be GW.
Let's not forget the number of different builds in WoW, that effectively amount to an outstanding two (2!) per class.
