Hello, I thought I'd see if you'll can help me find a mmo that's right for me. I'm currently playing WoW but after several lv. 60's I just don't see the point in going on. I crave more than just leveling and getting gear. There's NOTHING else to do in WoW.
I'm looking for a game with more substance. I love the fighting and UI of WoW along with the quests but I hate the fact that all there is to do is get more levels and better armor. I miss having some form of alternate advancement like EQ had or even some type of Hero class which WoW was supposed to have. I want to build things, a boat to travel in or a house to decorate and make my own. I miss the crafting of Horizons and really miss the community but I refuse to play Horizons since that new company took it over. Horizons is a dying game because of them. A game's only as good as their community and let's face it WoW has the worse one that I have ever encountered. I have not seen one single message in General chat in the last 3 days. Granted I am in higher lv. zones but with as many players as wow has you'd think someone would talk. I've been in the Hinterlands, Searing Gorge, Badlands, etc and I know those aren't the most populated zones but to not see a single thing said in general is disturbing. I feel like I'm playing a single player game. I ask a question and nothing....... I keep expecting to see a tumble weed go rolling by. It's so weird. I thought the chat was broken or something. I also want a game that you can explore the world. I liked WoW at first but they've added flight paths everywhere so there's not much exploration left. I can't stand games that give you portals everywhere. I want to explore a world.
Basically I want a fun game that has substance, where there's more to do than just leveling and getting better gear. I want to be able to build something whether it's a boat or a house. I want good crafting, not the kind where you level to be able to do it and then you hit the end and there's no more point in making anything. I want my actions to feel meaningful. I want alot of lore and depth. I just want to have something to always be working on. Are there any games like that at the moment? I'm looking forward to Age of Conan and Warhammer online but I have an old pc and probably can't run those newer mmo's. I have a 2.0 GHZ AMD athlon, 512 mb. ram, a 256mb. Geforce 5500 fx Video Card and no money to upgrade. I'm so freaking poor, Lol.
Games I've played:
WoW - love the game but wish it had more substance. Just leveling and getting better gear and then nothing : (
Anarchy Online - has alot of depth. Great community but I'm looking for something new.
EQ 1 and 2. - Loved EQ 1 but would never go back, I hate forced grouping. I'd give EQ2 a try but I can't afford their never-ending supply of expansions that seem to come out every few months. It's too expensive for me to keep up with.
Horizons - Best mmo community ever. Great game with lots of potential. Was looking great with Tulga but since they sold it to that other horrible company that I don't trust or care for I refuse to play it.
EVE Online - not my cup of tea.
D&D online - not enough to do yet. Didn't seem that fun for some reason.
City of heroes/villains - excellent games but I prefer fantasy mmo's. If I could afford a second game, this would be it.
Guild Wars - not my style. I haven't tried the expansions yet, can't afford them. Probably much better with them.
and so many others: Lineage II - bots, Archlord - now free to play, hehehe, it's that bad, Carpe Diem - WTF is this crap?, Shadowbane - free to play, may start playing this one again. Various other free to play mmo's and asian mmo's.
Thanks for looking. Sorry for such a long post I just need some new excitement that I've been missing for sooo long from a mmo.
These guys are just too cool

a tale in the desert and wurmonline are both about building though theres no combat and downplayed combat(respectivly)
vangaurd will be very mainstream and have the whole crafting, housebuilding type thing.
I find it amazing that by 2020 first world countries will be competing to get immigrants.
