I've been reading the Age of Conan forums allot lately, and all I've been seeing are "Kids shouldn't play this game!" And "Don't let kids play this!" threads over and over again. I'm 15 years old, and I think its pretty stereotypical when I see these threads. Just because a large majority of kids who play MMOs are brats, dosn't mean ALL of them are. Allot of my friends play MMO games, and we're not immature, snot nosed brats who demand everything to just be handing to them selves and saying "lawl n00b ur teh sux0rz!!11".
And, immaturity isn't just in kids. Where ever you go, you can't avoid immaturity. It's in adults just as much as kids, but more are kids.
Just my 2 cents....

Age has NOTHING to do with it.
Back when I played City of Heroes, even I couldn't believe it but some of the most mature, talented, and intelligent people I've ever met (online or in real life for Christ's sake) were under 18. I'm talking writers and artists that could be paid professionally. Hell, my SG leader was a 16 year old kid from England and we're still good friends despite the age difference. You wouldn't be able to tell the difference.
Moreover, most of people you see acting "childish" or "like a 13 year old" are actually adults! If some of the most mature people I've played with were "kids" then without doubt some of the most immature were "adults." Seriously, the petty, obnoxious, and unpleasant people I've dealt with (I moderated a fan community for CoH) were all in their 20s and 30s!
Honestly, just don't tell people your age online. Play the game, and let your actions speak for themselves. If people assume that you are older, then you can be proud. If people assume that you are a kid, well... It's probably for a reason.
How do you kill that which has no life?
Another thing bugging me about age of conan forums is that people say that monthly fees should be payed for by credit card to avoid little kids playing. I'm 15 and i doubt my parents would let me use their credit card for a game and im sure alot of people are also in my boat. Also, im sure some adults dont have access to credit cards for whatever reason so it wud be a major mistake on Funcom's behalf to implement this.
