Me im pissed off because the contest winners wasted there time trying to get into beta and now its gonna be open beta. Contest winners post your wrath of complaints on themis in this thread so spam dosent occure. As well themis your slow at emailing people.

Well, I won an entry as well - but lets be honest... We wanted to play Ryzom. We'll be doing so now. Just because we didn't get in before everyone else isn't a huge deal.... Now we all get to play.
I am mad... this was the first contest i won on MMORPG.com, and i didnt even get to try closed beta. We won CLOSED BETA for SOR, now in a couple of days its going Open?? What is this?
Well, i guess i am thankful i even won.
BAH HUMBUG! Lol, oh well at least it felt like we won something for a bit. Thanks for the good intention MMORPG.com, it seemed like a good thing.....Funny but I guess it is ok- I just wish we actually gained a benefit.
In the famous words of a certain slacker I once hung with-
"ah, well..."
Don't ya eat the yellow snow!
Yea I'm POed as well. Themis didn't have the nerve to let us know anything they sent it to a 3rd party so they wouldn't have to deal with it (sorry MMORPG). Funniest thing is Themis business is CS. I hope they shape up cause they are gonna kill some good games cause of thier CS.

WHO GIVES A SHIT? Youre supposed to be debugging a game, more people added to beta doesnt change anything... You guys are a bunch of greedy idiots who dont even know why youre in the beta. Do what you signed up to do and quit bitching.

We didn't get into the game dude. How are we suppost to beta when our accounts weren't activated. only person using foul lang here is you. From your tone of your post you are mad as well as to what, thats YOUR problem not ours. We are POed cause we won a contests and DIDN'T get what we won. So maybe next time you post about something you will read whats going on instead of going off half cocked (and yes that last post was).

I've been to many places, i've seen so many faces...
Who really cares though?, if you guys dont understand competitions then dont whinge and moan...
The mmorpg competitions are there for a few simple things:
a. Generate huge interest/hype
b. Generate a large amount of beta testers to be added
c. To make people feel they deserve beta testing a game, thus tying them to the game.
Who really cares if more people are aloud to enter?, after all a true beta TESTER (note tester not player) wants to help the game become as good as it can be by suggesting improvements and helping to test for bugs. It seems like too many of you are just beta PLAYERS who believe just because you won a competition it gives you sole rights to play a game. Its not your game the dev can do what they want, and for those saying mmorpg only have had a few days in, well i say that you still gained something and should be happy with all the extra people coming in.
It doesnt even really affect the beta PLAYERS either, cause it doesnt really change the schedule of the game and so you still get all your "free" hours.
Beta Tested: Lineage 2, Ryzom, City of Heroes, RYL, EverQuest 2 World Of Warcraft European
Truly Loved: World of Warcraft
To be honest it's not a big deal at all. Just bad how things worked out.
Can't blame MMORPG.COM for not giving anything, wasn't their fault after all.
Personally i'm excited. I applied only last week for a closed beta account and was a bit angry with having to wait for a reply, possibly months.. Now it's going open beta i couldn't be happier!
Don't moan, be happy that you're getting to play soon. True a lot of immature kids will play during open beta, but they will disappear when the game goes pay-to-play. Plus they can be easily ignored

Well, I don't know if "pissed" is the right word, but I am definately highly annoyed. First, they don't bother to respond to winners for over a week, and when they do, it is to then tell them the account to which you signed up on their site. When you do that, they say there will be an email confirming the shipping information within a few days....and still nada. Two and a half weeks and we still aren't in the beta....now that is annoying.
If you can't fulfill your obligations by having a site like MMORPG.com carry out a contest, you shouldn't do it. Yeah, the contest may generate hype, but failure to follow through generates alot of negative energy around your game. You want those who are "invited" to join the closed beta to be excited and enthusiastic about your product. Now, they have a pool of 500 closed beta testers that are annoyed at them and their product. A big strike even before they have once played the game.
Secondly, I am a beta TESTER (as one person chose to post) and have beta'd several games and other software packages, but I do like the CLOSED beta environment over the OPEN environment. Many reasons for this, but I am already typing too much so you will only see a few. In an closed beta, you tend to feel like your input actually means something. If you get feedback, your voice is one in a select few, not one in a crowded room...often a crowd of whiners looking for their own interests. When it goes open, you no longer have a group of people dedicated to testing, but a slew of people looking for free games to play....many of them young and/or idiots that hop from open beta to open beta without contributing to anything and annoying testers and players in general.
To me I've found that in a closed beta there seems to be more testing verus playing. During an open beta I've main found stress testing of either 1 or 2 servers or all of them together. "Open" beta's are usually nothing more than "free previews" with maybe a few problems. But as I've said before I may be wrong but I've seen no evidence of an open beta on ryzom's sight yet. Does anyone have a definite yea or nea on this?
sucks to win for nothing
oh well. Not like they responded to winners anyway.
Be nice just to play and check it out.
If there can be only one, then I am that one.
If there can be only one, then I am that one.
I guess we're mostly upset that there was no communication with the winners other than the one email that basicly said a few days, then more than a week later nothing has happend, other than for us to see open beta spalshed over a few sites.
