Ok.. i am not here to give my opinion on anything or side with SOE. I still hate them and i will never forgive them for betraying old SWG players. But i think we all should give SWG another try. Trust me its not that bad. I returned after two years and after playign it i know why i missed it. Even in its current state its 100 times better then any MMO out there. This game is what we make it. If anyone thinks SOE is going to change it to its original state we all know its not going to happen. Things have changed and game is a lot more stable now. It has a great potential for role play and i havent seen such a great atmosphere in any other MMO. Its not going to die..lets be sure about this fact. So i would really like it, if a lot more older players give it a try thinkng that its whole new game and has nothign to do with the old one.

I'm holding out for an MMO developer to have the balls to try something innovated - kinda like what SOE was like about 4 years ago.
It's a horrible mess and the fake FPS BS is unplayable. I'd rather play a working game with elves than this abortion of a game.
Tasting shit again makes it no more tasty.

You're wasting typing skills on these guys, Shastra. SWG is growing slowly but surely, things are being fixed, dumbass devs are being removed for others to take the game forward. This section of the forums is for a bunch of "vets" who do NOT represent the majority view of vets of the game, many of whom are still playing and adapting to the changes made, or have moved on to other games, like normal people. Instead of whining about not getting their way. i would suggest joining us over in the CURRENT forums, where people who PLAY THE GAME reside. If they don't play, they have no vote or right to an opinion as to how SWG gets developed or what is good/bad for it. And it doesn't matter if they are paid up for the next 20 years. If they don't play the game currently, their opinion is null and void.
I feel bad for what the vets went through, but it's been long enough for them to decide whether to play or not. There is no "pre-cu", "cu", or "nge" anymore. There is Star Wars galaxies. Period.
All we can do is hope that swgemu is finished soon, and that it works.

Show me a server list then.... I'd bet that the vast majority of them are still listed as light.

I gave it a chance after an enforced six and a half month break. I truly missed the game before I started playing it. I found it to be dull, boring, not enough people online at the same time to have fun with, solo'ing was painful. I figured "Ok, I'll get the Mustafar expansion, that's GOT to help it out." BAH!! All I did was waste my money. I'm a huge SW fan, played SWG since the day it went gold (ok, open beta), and was so disappointed w/the NGE I canceled all 3 of my accts. Thanks for killing a great game SOE.
For those still playing it, I truly hope you enjoy it, it's just not for me any longer w/cookie-cutter players.
Talked to an old guild member that for some insane reason is still playing this game (he plays shooters, so that might be why).
Per our conversation our old server Ahazi is "barren, lonely, very little chatting."
That is from someone still playign the game, and will for some reason.
on a side note: what is witht the sudden influx of neg/soe/etc defenders in this area? Of late all we are seeing is "it is all you that lefts fault." "the populationis growing." "no really the iceberg was not that bad the ship is fine" postings. At the same time per Mr. Smedelys last interview they admit that they need a server consoldation. That is NOT the sign of a growing player base, but one that is either flat lined or declining.
Time might heal wounds, but it will not fix a screwed up game mechanic.
The only reason server population will be growing and I said "will be" is because SOE is giving the NGE'ers a Holo-Pal and Holo-Band to play with. Those who see a population boost better provide screenshots of servers saying Medium and Heavy like in Pre-CU's day. I tried all the Vet trials SOE gave out to try to beg vets like me back, All I saw was tons of jedi, tons of BHs and tons of Commandos grinding away at Restuss for Faction or all in Mos Noobville (Eisley) wondering what to do next.
The Game is laughable at best, the game is really easy and thats why the kids love it, its Elmo in ABC Land. No Complexity, regardless with the so called Expertise system, everyone is still a clone of each other. No real penalty for death, no decay, no real use for crafters and entertainers except for minor things. Loots were still better then crafted items and nothing changed. Smed and his SOE devs can post and post tons of things they are bringing to the NGE and you fanbois will jump all over it like it was all new. Well here is something for you kids, its not all new, it was there before when SWG meant something.
My main question is , why continue to post here on this forum? I am not interested in the NGE (New Garbage Experiance) nor am I interested in joining all the NGE'ers (Whom say Ub3r, l33t, etc) and feel that they are tons better than elders or vets. People whom *Cough* play the NGE are simply looking to play a game that wont overload their 10 year old minds. Pre-CU would have driven theses NGE'ers to sit in the corner and play with their toes because the game would have been too much for them. I was a beta tester and been with SWG since launch, gave the NGE a chance, laughed at it being a WoW Ripoff. I called the NGE what it is "Star Wars Jedi Knights of the Old Republic Battlefront" , While KoToR,Jedi Academy and Battlefront on their own are good games, SWG was not meant to be that way nor a clone of WoW. Smed and his crew only see dreams of money and continue to rip off WoW and the playerbase (Again those whom could not cope in a real game) jump all over it like a bunch of flies on honey.
You NGE'ers feel that since everything is handed to you, Jedi for instance, that the game is doing greatly and then you folks come to this forum , flame the vets whom dont agree with you and then beg the people here to "Give it a second chance", "please , please come back!!" or the best one "Come back, there are more people rejoining" , yes 2 or 3 people whom try the trial or your all playing on TC and seeing all the new holo people running around. If you enjoy your game, go play it, quit your rants or whines about how you want people to come back and then flame those whom dont want to go back. If the Population is up like you NGE kids continue to say then you dont need to post here that you need vets to come back.
Enjoy your game now NGE'ers, because today you have it, tommorrow SOE might decide they want to change the game to get a new playerbase and you will be joining us here complaining how SOE changed the game you like. Remember that what goes around, comes around.
To answer this - tbh there seems to be no seperation in the 2 areas. The SWG Current forums is covered by disgrunteled vets so if anyone currently playing tries to say anything positive about the game there it gets bashed to death. So it is only seems fair for them to post here as well.
This is just idiotic. Anyone who says that needs to have there head examined. Everyone with a sane mind knows SOE blew the pootch on this one. ( One of if not the BIGGEST blunder in gaming history) Sorry you guys have to endure that....
Actually the population is growing. But this is growing from the desolation that the NGE left us with. Obviously this is a small population compared to what it used to be. I would love a server consolidation because there are some desolate servers out there that need to be sunset.
All in all there are some absolutely absurd statements coming from both sides of the fence. I'm sorry you guys had the game that you loved ripped out from underneath you in such a shady way, I went through that with all of you. At the same time I get sick a name slingers bashing me and others just b/c we choose to continue to play a game that we enjoy.
