He is right. Why would you mess with the game options when your not alloud? Alot of people may see that as hacking. No matter how weak their security is, you are NOT alloud to edit such.

Its spelled "allowed" (mentioning it because it sounds wierd so with alloud).
That forum-moderator is fairly dense, if it was "client-modification" he should have deleted the thread and not just lock it. Since they plan on living on ads they should have not done the config files so simple (even a minor encryption would have helped). Its not hacking, hacking means there is some sort of security applied, this is like having a text-file & saying "Dont open this!".
Using a hex editor is not cheating, its programmers being lazy (in regards to safety). I wonder what the moderator would do if OP opened a text file with notepad to change some values (essentially the same thing). (Also the hex-editor/hex editing has nothing to do with "haxing/hacking/haxor/etc", its just another way of entering information).
Is no surprise if there are more simple config-files around, just about every mmorpg that uses/has used Hackshield/Gameguard has almost no security thinking at all & cheats are plentiful because of it.
