Hey guys, just thought i would post this video for anyone who is interested in LOTRO. It has alot of great information in it.

Click here to view the video

I was suprised when i heard him say you can eventually equip your character with an instrument and play to other players via the use of your normal keyboard, so for example your keys become different notes. He said players can also have a "jam" session together and play to an audience. I hadnt heard about this before and thought it sounded pretty damn good.

Check out the video, theres some decent info and footage in there. I dunno how old the vid is but its worth watching.

Nonsense.... it's Roleplaying... one of the great things I love about LOTR:O is it's an MMO that caters very well to the roleplayers out there and that is one of the many reasons I actually pre-ordered for the first time since UO.

As to 'carebear'?  It's a PVE game with a PVP function called "Monster Play" where you can be a monster and fight players.  But there's no PVP.  While I do enjoy PVP, having played in the beta since Phase 1, I honestly don't feel that LOTR:O really needs PVP.  (Which is another switch for me.  I was very upset when I heard that turbine was pulling PVP from the option list in LOTRO originally).

The game is top notch.  Easily the best Fantasy game to hit since WoW and, in my opinion, better than both WoW and EQ2.  (Note that I didn't pre-order either of them despite being in both those Betas as well).

There are other games that I'm keeping an eye on but I don't see WAR, AOC or any of the other 'big guns' hitting this year since they're not even in closed beta yet.  2008 may bring a new "top notch" game.  But this year, so far, it looks like LOTR:O will be the best release.  It's worlds better than Vanguard (IMO).

    Just my opinion though.

Currently Playing: Dungeons and Dragons Online.
    Sig image Pending
    Still in: A couple Betas

Certainly the more I see and read about the game the more I want to give it a spin. It looks very nice. Yes its no Age of Conan or WAR however its something one can relax in and hopefully RP in to your hearts delight. I really enjoy PvP however I think there is a time and a place for it and PvE. This game caters to different crowd and while it may not be the next greatest MMO, it looks like a solid game thats going to offer a solid couple months of FUN. Cheers for the video.

Its an excellent and NEW feature in an MMORPG to be able to compose your own music and i think its awesome, it really adds somthing to the world and the whole RP feel. Bl1nd, really what the hell are you talking about how is this feature carebear, i suppose anything that isnt to do with PVP is carebear to you right ? dont be such an idiot.

The video isnt mine so i cant upload it to somewhere else im afraid. If you goto the lotro-europe forums there is currently a thread discussing it, thats how i came to find out about it.

Woohoo! im all ears, reminds me of those old amiga trackers. Midi support would be great ;) downloading the beta client now and can't wait to check it out this weekend.

I'd like to see future MMORPG support a bunch of cool hardware like midi and video stuff, alternate controllers or electronic drawing boards (think Nintendo DS) instead of just physic cards and faster GPUs using the same old game concepts.

    with friendly grooves, Lena

Great idea! I love it! The more options for interection with other characters the better...

Now if you could play certain tunes on magical instruments (ocarina of time style) which rips the skin off your enemy, bursts his ear drums, boils the blood in his veins or puts pressure on his eyeballs until they pop, maybe that might be carebear enough for you?

A buddy and I came up with doing music in our Nwn pw, using tokens as notes.

Players loved it, had to figure out how to make cool down times on some notes so they'd carry longer/shorter.

In the end we had people doing all kinds of music via the hotbar.

I can't wait to try out a more polish stream lined version!
