1. Can anyone tell me anything about Phylon, specifically, is it worth the time to download?
2. Can this company be trusted with my personal info?
1. For a free Beta? Why not?
2. That's personal opinion... but this forum might be pretty jaded already.

1. No reason not to try any free beta as long as you don't put in any cc info.
2. Depends. I don't think anyone has been charged for something they didn't know about or had thier personal info forwarded onto anyone else. But then they have taken money and lied and not kept promises to their paying customers. Very hard to support a company that have treated thier paying customer base like that. I'm certainly not impressed by them and they have over $100 of my money and yet they give out the beta to fileplanet subscribers after saying the paying customers would get into closed beta first.
Rapid Reality: I think its pretty obvious that Rapid Reality has basically taken another crap on the steaming pile of crap that is alreadty their reputation. They've made a bad thing even worse. They simply can't possibly have any respect in the gaming community at this point.
Phylon: Well, my client is patched and playable but I haven't tried it much yet. I'd say give the game a chance. I'll try it out of curiosity. Let the game stand on its own merits, even if the company management is the laughing stock :-)

You don't get it Coder. Even if the game is good, RR is likely to destroy it with their unprofessional approach. So all you'll end up doing is investing your time and money in a game that will frustrate you until it shuts down due to inactivity. An MMO isn't like doesn't stand alone. MMO's grow and the producers/developers are responsible for that growth. Meaning that your always going to be suject to RR inconsiderat and inept decision making if you choose to support them.
I don't see how downloading the Beta and trying it actually corresponds to giving them money though. If you want to try out the Beta to see if you find it enjoyable, you should.
...although I appear to be banned, and I have a legitimate FP Key AND a PreOrder key.
yet I recall some good times fragging the other people who worked on it.

OMG...You took all that shit from the community when it wasnt your fault. They fire you and in some ways still help out the company by answering questions on these forums. Go to play a game you help establish and they hit you with a ban stick. If I were you I would go postal on their asses. Or at least kick Tracy right in the teabags.

how lame is that... firing you wasn't enough they thought they'd ban your account so you cant even play the game. are these people at RR even human? Not sure how they can explain their behavior. Be interesting to see them spin this in yet another community letter or something.

Well first of all what you're suggesting and what coder said doesn't seem to be the same thing. Secondly, why try playing a game where you find the developers so reprrehensible that you would never want to support their endevors. Have a little will power and character. If someone is so board that they feel the need to try this beta after all the "crap" that RR has unloaded they have serious self-respect issues.
As for the banning of CG. We don't know why they fired CG so it is possible that his banning is justified. However, assuming the banning isn't justified it only further illustrates my point about why you should never trust this company by giving their games a chance.

No, I haven't paid any sort of subscription fee to Rapid Reality. I was referring to the beta.
I think we all agree here wrt Rapid Reality. I really don't think there are any fanbois anywhere for that studio anymore.
For me, I want to see what they managed to create. You have no place telling me I "don't get it". I stuck with them for a loooong time being one of the MMOCenter pre-orders way back when. I fully "get it", "understand it", and probably agree with you and everyone else here wrt Rapid Reality. So we're on the same page. But after all that, I want to see what this Phylon thing looks like, even though MMOFPS aren't normally my cup of tea and even though I detest Rapid Reality. If you don't want to do that, then don't.

But always better to make up your own mind.
