I've had a Dungeon Runners account for quite a while, but I haven't used it much. Certain problems kept me away, like frustration with the camera, lack of depth in the skill system, and a general lack of "smoothness" in the engine. It's nice to see that the developers are making steady progress in improving the interface, as evidenced by this latest patch. It definitely looks like the game will continue to improve over time, but I can't help but wonder if its better-looking, beefier brother is about to show up.
Mythos is being brought to us by Flagship Studios, a studio formed by some of the best talent from Blizzard North, the guys who brought us Diablo and Diablo 2. Now, I'm keeping in mind that we have no idea how Mythos will ultimately turn out, but what we do know tells us that these games will be competing for exactly the same niche. Mythos, like DR, promises to offer a free top-down 3D hack-and-slash using randomized dungeons.
I'm left comparing Flagship to the handful of developers working on Dungeon Runners, and I can't help but think that Flagship has these guys beat soundly in terms of knowing how to make a fun hack-and-slash. I say that because, honestly speaking, if Blizzard would release a free Diablo 1 with no improvements other than complete removal of the cheating, I would play that in a second over Dungeon Runners. I think the real question in terms of how Mythos will turn out is how devoted Flagship Studios is to the game. If Mythos is nothing more than a technology test for Flagship Studios before they release Hellgate, then it might be a quick-and-dirty game which won't see any real support over time. If it's not, if Flagship decides to give it some real support over time, then I think it has the potential to beat DR in terms of both quality and fun factor.

Mythos started off with a great engine. Movement is smooth and fluid, and controls are very responsive, making it fun to play. It's still in alpha, options are still terribly limited, balancing hasn't even begun, and characters get wiped with every new build, but I'd still rather play it than play Dungeon Runners.
I just tried playing Dungeon Runners again, to see if it had been improved enough to make it worth $5 a month. It only made me want to play Mythos again. But Mythos test days are few and far between, so I'll have to get my action RPG fix offline by playing Fate. Unless some major modifications are made to the game engine, Mythos will indeed blow Dungeon Runners away.
