AM leaving WOW cos its getting pritty boaring and well tbh LOTRO look sooo much better i am a big fan of LOTR to begin with i relli liked the books but an online LOTR is just gona be sweet so anyway yer bye bye WOWhello LOTRO lol.
Yay! i quit wow and iam nearly 3 weeks sober from it XD
of course the poll would be biased in favor of LOTR in a LOTR forum. I think LOTR is only going to hold onto fanatics of the LOTR books/movies/mythology. I think they did a great job on the game and it looks sweet, but it is the same song and dance as the dozen others out there. I predict total active membership after 6 months to be maybe 1-2 million worldwide.
Keep in mind that at best maybe 1 in 100 players actually visit AND post in these forums. So it is probably more like 300,000 will leave WoW for LOTR. That still means LOTR fails badly in comparison.
even if LOTRO get one million subscribers will be an huge sucess. don't forget that 8.5 mill subscribers blizzard brag about, 5.5 millions are chineses who don't pay montly fee, even L2 says on box they have 14 millions subscribers.
And 5.5 million isnt that many in a country that has a population of 1 billion.
On another note, LOTRO did a great job with the ambience of the game. I truly feel like I'm in middle earth and amazingly surprised how much I enjoy the game. I'm glad a friend talked me into trying open beta.
It's human nature. In 2 years people will be calling other games LOTRO 2.0. People get bored with things.. not much to figure out there. LOTRO is the newest lemming destination. Have fun with it.... until you get bored. The life-cycle of boredom to MMOs will be shorter and shorter as games progress. I'm not a historian with any valid proof to my comments, but I have witnessed this trend since late 80s MUDDs. EQ lasted about 4-5 years for most people, WoW about 1.5-2.5 years, next gen MMOs (if you really believe LOTRO is one of those), I'm guessing 1/2 -2 years. There are exceptions to every rule. My longest played online game was a MUDD called Moongate (there were less choices back then, go figure).
This isn't a negative post, I love that we now have many choices in online games. But claiming one pool of community is head and shoulders above any other online game is proposterous. How can anyone predict what LOTROs community will really be like in beta? Don't fool yourselves. LOTRO is as simple a game as WoW.

Let me get this straight, you stop playing WoW just to shell out more money to play the same game.
/ yawn.
LOTRO-WOW comparisons are sooo yesterday.... they are like l33t typing now. Not even worth a tiny flame

Actually, LotRO-WoW are still being done on this board and on the general forums whenever LotRO topic pop up. Most of the community in MMORPG.com agree that LotRO is a WoW clone. You're just in denial of the negative comparisons and you're telling yourself they are old.
Ahh I get it. The LOTRO board is the universal source of truth. The Oracle itself! Why I didn't know this before... dangit
I think you secretly wish the Vanguard was a WOW clone too - so at least it would work :P

Denial makes one look a lot dumber than he/she actually is.
