Bored: essay for english class

XeximaXexima Member UncommonPosts: 2,698

Needed to write an essay for English class...in the last 4 days of school..gah, but I did it anyway.  Supposed to be a comparison contrast, seems more like a rediculous Argumentative.  Really choppy, but i'm bored, so comment over it and shit...

Oh yeah, almost forgot, this was a photoessay, so there are references to pictures in here and such.. use your imagination.  and, if you are ever doing a photo essay for some random class, go ahead, plagerise, I don't care.

An Enthralling Essay over the Obvious yet Debatable Supremacy of Apples over Oranges that Might be Contrary

Apples and oranges have always been the source of controversy for millenniums – beginning at the first bite from the Apple of Knowledge, humans have always argued over which was better, apples, or oranges.

We begin our journey to the distant (well, not so distant) land we like to call Kroger; there, we shall discover the unforgiving differences between our apples, and our oranges.  The apples, we find seem smooth and shiny on the surface, a reference, possibly to it’s divine past – or just the wax coating applied in order to make it look more appealing to the all unsuspecting customer.  No one will ever know, except for me, who knows somebody, who knows another person who works in the produce section, who told them that “apples are only shiny because of the wax coating that companies give them, the organic ones are over there.”  But, we can, for purpose’s sake, pretend that they are just holy specimens.

Do not let the ridiculously well taken photograph of a pallet of oranges fool you; they have such a sinister twist unto them also.  Though oranges seem to be protected by a rough, pervasive skin, genetic modification, and pesticides taint it.  This wickedness runs deep into the orange’s origin, an origin with a dark past.  When Satan first stepped foot upon the land, oranges sprung up at his feet, feeding him, allowing for his temptation which wrought the demise of humans.  The apple was to be his tool.  He tempted Eve; such a holy fruit was meant to be left untouched.

The symbolic meanings behind apples and oranges are left to be disputed, though, I might add, I did a brilliant job on depicting them.  What are left are the bare facts: apples and oranges are different.  We all have eyes by which we can see this, hands in which we can feel this, tongues in which we can taste this, noses in which we can smell this, and ears… well we all have ears.

Apples remain bittersweet, they are crunchy, textured; smooth on the outside, and wonderfully constructed on the inside.  Oranges, on the other hand taste of citrus acid, mixed with fructose and other unclean elements they contain.  They are hard to peel, and messy if eaten wrong, void of the apple’s core which allows for clean eating, and disposal.

When we look unto an apple, we see its vivid texture, and its character.  Whatever its color, be it green, yellow, red, or that wonderful golden color, it is always looked upon yearningly.  It is not surprising that Adam and Eve were so easily tempted by it.  Oranges, on the other hand, remain bland and orange.  The name even reflects the lack of human compassion for this so called fruit.  Apples, at least, were given a unique name.

It is not hard to understand the irony by why oranges cost more (a dollar and seventeen cents, to be precise).  Oranges cost more due to the wickedness of human society, paralleling Satan’s love for oranges.  Either that or it might just be the fact that apples grow in larger masses, even while out of season.

How do apples and oranges compare?  They both have seeds; both are fruit; neither of them looks anything like a pineapple – even though apples do share its name; they both have something to do with “Trout;” they are both packaged for sale in plastic netted bags; in nearly every super market and grocery store, they are sold; and, of course, I was forced to go out and photograph each of these beauties.

So, which of the two is better?  The debate shall rage on, burning down villages, towns, cities, destroying galaxies, blowing up stars.  No one shall ever know, all we do know, however, is that oranges are evil.

Your paper, sir, is brilliant. However, one of your conclusions was incorrect. If you put an apple to your ear and listen closely, you can hear Tool songs being played. Yet more proof of its holy origins.

I put an orange to my ear once and heard Winger. Enough said.

Noone likes apples, but they keep the doctor away, if you eat one a day.

Also, clementines arent oranges, but both are Citrus.

Good luck on your next assignment, seeing that its english though, you wont be needing luck.

Got a 90 on it... the 10 points off was because it was a day late -  I skipped school friday to go to chilis with a couple of friends.   It was the senior assembly, so I said screw it, I already knew what scholarships and schools my friends got and are going to.  Even though I had a doctors note (illegally acquired of course; I know WAY too many doctors) she said that "you had 3 weeks to do it."  whatever..

    thnx draenor
