Hey everyone, i play Anarchy Online right now, but i have that crazy craving for a fantasy game, and DAOC looked like it had so much customization!
Can anyone tell me some valuable tips on DAOC? Like, are the servers still populated? Is there lots of customization? I know the graphics are horrible, but is the content there? Lots of unique items? Can you have a mount ? What professions are there ? Well let me know ! See Ya !

Servers are ok. The low pop servers run around 1000 for all 3 realms at primetime, whereas the large pop servers run around 2600-2800 for all realms at primetime. You can't buy mounts, but you have horse stables that you rent out a horse at for a specific route. Graphics are actually pretty good.....not stellar, but pretty good. Nothing like any of the new games out. Customization is ok. You can customize mostly in colors and such for your armor. There are some different shapes of shields, weaps(some glowy weaps as well in higher levels.....drops), some interesting hats for casters and such, some decent spell graphics, sword special graphics are average. There are some unique drops on higher raids and such, but that isn't to say that a few others out there won't have that same "unique" drop. Trials of Atlantis is the latest expansion, and most people are of one of 3 camps. You love it, you hate it(and probably don't play anymore), or you tolerate that bad parts and enjoy the good parts. It is mainly for level 40 and above. It has special artifacts that you can get that help your character's abilities(and test your patience in lvling them). You also have Master Level quests that you can do.....they usually require full groups or multiple groups to complete.....and can be very time consuming, no matter what anyone tells you. The underwater world in ToA is quite impressive, cool graphics, and interesting fighting underwater. MLs also help your abilities, especially in PvP/RvR.
I would recommend seeing if you can still get the free trial, and try that for a month. That way, you won't be out any cash if you don't like it. A lot of how much you enjoy the game, depends on what you expect from it, and how much time you can put into it.
Good luck!

The public character builder 2.0 will give you the best insights into the character classes. Races aren't very important, unless you're doing something like an Avalonian paladin. In that case, it doesn't work.
Leveling up from 1-20 is REALLY difficult and boring, because there will be only a handful of people to play with. And a lot of the time, they're making some solo only class to race to 50 to gain the free level 20 ability. the Free level 20 ability is given to anyone with a level 50 character, so naturally, there are very few people below 20.
Once you get to 20, it's a lot of fun.
You can also download a free trial from fileplanet. it's only 7-days tho.
PM me. Ill give you my old account if you buy it.

You do require a CC to start the 7-day trial. Please make sure you cancel or close the account before that 7 day period expires, otherwise you'll be charged for the subscription plan you chose.
It's key that you cancel the account. You'll still be able to access the game, however Mythic won't auto-bill you once the 7days are up.
Cancel the account to stop auto-billing. You'll still be able to log in and play.

Mythic requires you to sign up for a billing cycle to activate the 7-day trial. those 7 days are free, however unless you cancel the account on the 7th you'll be charged for the billing cycle you chose.
I think it's a lousy way of making me try free trial. It sets me up as the player to pay for the game when I'm not even sure I want to play past the 3rd day.
cancelling the account will only STOP the billing cycle. You'll only be able to play for the time you left whether it's 6 days of the 7 day trial or 2 weeks of a 1 month access you have. Mythic should clarify what they mean. cancelling the account sounds like you're shut out from the game. Not true, just the billing cycle won't renew your access.
The servers are well populated, and are still growing. Defently with this new frontier expantion, old players will most likly be crawlin back

Yea thats what i thought about the 7-Day free trial. The way that guy worded it made me think that you could some how cheat the system, haha. Anyway, I think I'll just give it a try because it's considered a legend next to UO !
Check ya later guys.

The servers are pretty well populated. When you start a character, I think Mythic has a pop-up box that urges you to go to one of the lower population servers. As much as I'm glad they are trying to help low pop servers, you shouldn't go to one if you want to enjoy the game =P. Look on the Herald at www.camelotherald.com. On the right you'll see the "State of the Realm" column, with the servers and population listed. Don't log in to any of the ones at the top of the list. You'll see they are the ones with the lowest pop.
Probably Kay, Tristan, Galahad, or Morgana Le Fay (Morgan on the list) are good possibilities. If your computer can bear it and you don't mind higher numbers, then one of the higher population servers like Percival, Guinevere, Lancelot, or Merlin would be good, too.
Also, leveling 1-20 isn't so bad. You can get kill tasks from town guards that give good experience and decent coin all the way to 20. You can do your class-specific quests every few levels that give good exp and equipment. And as of very recently, there are battlegrounds for every level from 1 all the way to 44...they increased the exp gain in battlegrounds, so now you actually can make really good experience in battleground combat, learn your class better, and have some fun along the way.
Enjoy.
