Seems pretty cool, but I think I'll stay to my mouse.

Very cool.
Sometimes I feel like I'm living in the future.
Edit: I just thought about using Photoshop on that thing and wet myself.
Wish Darkfall would release.

Unfortunately, this thing will probably be priced out of the range of the general consumer for years to come.

Microsoft has got it in the bag, this is going to dominate the market. And Im not talking just the consumer market, that will come years after the device is released, but they're gonna make a killing selling this to large corporations, an absolute killing.
O_o o_O
And your phone is talking to the table. You have no secrets!
I think this looks like a really cool piece of hardware. It looks like it will be fun and intuitive to use. I'm on board...
My cat sits on my keyboard anyway, so why shouldn't it be more convenient for him to sleep on my whole computer? Ah ha! Surface is more proof that the world is run by a secret society of housecats.

I see you haven't read The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy. Of course it's not a secret society of housecats, it's mice that rule the world. They just fake to be stupid and has to sacrifice a few to the cats to seem stupid. While in reality they are the smartest animal on earth and the animal that's overlooking the work on finding out the meaning of life, or what 42 exactly mean...
The thing looks cool, don't get me wrong, but with the price range of $5,000 - 10,000 it will probably not see mainstream usage for years to come.
One other thing that comes to mind is upgradability. If it is going to be like an actual PC, rather than a table top that reads your iPod and lets your kids doodle on it, How is the upgrading going to be handled? The Warcraft 3 thing looks interesting and all but how are you going to play the more graphicaly advanced games or work in Photoshop?
Granted, I haven't really searched for info about this, but from what I've gathered the thing has a functionality of a glorified PDA. Yes, the ripple effect looks cool, but for $5,000 - 10,000 the thing better pick up my kids from school and wash my car.
I have read The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy... but my own observations suggest that cats are in control everything, and are trying to prevent mice from learning their secrets. At least that's what I think my cat is doing when he brings me dead mice. He's trying to intimidate me. If he can do that to mice, what can he do to mere humans?
Then again, by that logic, sofas are also hyperintelligent, pandimensional beings, since my cat is killing my sofa too.
Anyway, I think someone should develop software for cats for Surface. I mean, the cat is going to be on it anyway. Might as well have something on the tabletop to confuse him. It would be much cheaper than hiring Confuse-a-Cat.

I read a little about this and apparently, the way it's identifying the devices being placed on it is by ID stickers on the back of the device that are face down toward the screen.
