is there a racing online games that's for free?

i am talking about the 3D, not the flash games.. wherein, you can race computers/players until you level up and customize your items.. like buying or upgrade your engines and stuff?

do you know something like that? i keep searching the net, and i couldn't any.. need help!

Errr...a racing game where you have a persistent car which you grade up from race to race?...

Yeah, only MMO that would come to my mind is Auto Assault:

You have your Vehicle and speed around in a post-apocalyptic world, but it isn't about the racing, it's about killing everything in sight with your mounted weapons.

I found it really fun, but lack of community and lack of performance (I slugged around with 20 FPS max, at lowest details possible, in 1024... I don't know what was not compatible in my PC )

Trackmania Nations. Very Arcade-like fun racing game. Persistent in some way, as you as player can continously gain Points, and maybe become the worlds best Driver ;-)

But you can't upgrade your car, and everyone drives the same one with different colours. You don't have any collision detection either, as it's very competitive and purely time-based.

I dont know exactly when, but Acclaim is creating a racing mmo that involves animals and creatures instead of cars that you can race.  I read that it should be coming out within the next year.....but thats about the only racing game I know about.

Trackmania can be a lot of fun, especially if you find the right server for your tastes.  There is an F1 server that I really enjoy, they dont use any of the loops or jumps, they simulate actual road courses.



You cannot build up your car though, its completely skill based.

You could definetly try Toca Race Driver 3. It has a feature for the Clio cup where you can, in time, upgrade certain parts of the car and be faster on the track. I loved it, its great fun.
