I would like to know the pricing model for this title.
About a year ago, when Mr. Smedly announce the plans of a modern genre game, he also mentioned of how he liked how Runescape was doing with its business model. Runescape's pricing is either free play or pay $5/month.
And so I am wondering is this is what The Agency's business model will be, or if it will also include micro-payments (ie: buying weapons with real money), or follow the conventional MMO subscription?
I tried looking at the official site, but it appeared to be down, maybe due to traffic or my system. Anyhoot, some of the "little things" or the "attention to detail" has been missed. For example at the official site, there is a loading scene which shows the entire bullet and casing flying through the air, rather than just the bullet.
And that is why...
Conservatives' pessimism is conducive to their happiness in three ways. First, they are rarely surprised -- they are right more often than not about the course of events. Second, when they are wrong they are happy to be so. Third, because pessimistic conservatives put not their faith in princes -- government -- they accept that happiness is a function of fending for oneself. They believe that happiness is an activity -- it is inseparable from the pursuit of happiness.

This is only a guess, but I'm thinking a game of this stature and quality would require the traditional client purchase plus mo. subscription to make a profit.
Even so, I am looking forward to a change from the traditional mmo settings (fantasy/WOW or Sci Fi setting). The side quests and mini games look interesting too. I think this game has alot of potential to create a unique play experience and I will definitely check it out during open beta/release.
I would love it if the game was free to play, because that way I wouldn't have to choose between this and fallen earth.
This is true and was in a recent press release. They plan to only have 50% of their revenue from subscriptions after two years and then to 10% after 5 years. The system they are converting to is that of microtransaction most popular in Asian MMOs. It is where you buy access to items, areas, and so forth. As the CEO of SOE put it, it is the "red velvet carpet treatment" you will be paying for.
Not saying this is their model and I hope it isn't, because I rather enjoy only paying a subscription over having to ok payment for several things while playing. It would be rather frustrating.

I agree it would get frustrating overtime having to buy more things in game to participate. but as I figure as long as I don't spend more than 180 bucks a year (15 dollar/mo average) I'm fine lol. Hoever it is hard to say what they intend to do. If they go this route of the MicroTransactions that Smedley is really into at this point then I hope its nothing stupid pricing wise.
With this going on PS3 i'm 90% sure it will be this way
Hmmm...
I think they are going to have to charge something....somewhere...sometime. I do think that having to pay for in game items is a bad idea. I also think that they should be able to cut the price a bit...let's say to $10.00 a month. I just think that with the fact this is crossover game, we will see more subs than any other MMORPG. Consoles make gaming very convenient and easy. The fact that this game will focus on social interaction and "fun-factor" above the grind, will mean that we will see an influx of long term players who will build a very large community.
But, again..."I say pay as you go" is a bad idea. I say free or monthy sub!
