Ive always thought about a spy mmo and here it is in front of me.  As much as I hate SOE for ruining SWG and apparently other products

(though I have never played them) I have to give this a try.  Of course thats just me.  I find it difficult to play MMO's when there are not that

many people playing that game.  Its just not fun.........I feel lonely lol.  Anywho, let me get to the point, I was wondering how many people

are going to play this game or try it so I can get a good idea about it.

I will give it a try. The thing that draws me the most are the unique features such as NPC Operatives that can email/text you with updates. That is something I MUST try. Imagine sitting at work doing [insert job duty here] when all of a sudden you get a text message on your phone from YOUR GAME telling you that your operative just obtained [insert item here]. Thats just plain cool. The side-activities such as the casino sound like a good social activity... I dont know, I just like how this game sounds... the one deal breaker for me would be if this game turns out to be primarily an all out run and gun FPS. I'm hoping they really develop the espionage/spy side of things.

    I'll try anything once.
What happens after that, well, we'll see..

Played so far: 9Dragons, AO, AC, AC2, CoX, DAoC, DF, DnL, DR, DDO, Ent, EvE, EQ, EQ2, FoMK, FFO, Fury, GW, HG:L, HZ, L1, L2, M59, MU, NC1, NC2, PS, PT, R:O, RF:O, RYL, Ryzom, SL, SB, SW:G, TR, TCoS, MX:O, UO, VG, WAR, WoW...
    It all sucked.

SOE will ruin it if given enough time...

I will NOT be playing this game. I wont support anything created by SOE unless the publicly appologize about the CRAP they have been putting out and what they have been doing to decent games R.I.P StarWars Galaxies!

SOE has had a lot of time to learn from past mistakes. This is their chance to put all that learning to good use. I'm more than willing to give this game a shot. It looks really interesting and like it will be a ton of fun.

That said... I'm a little wary of SOE products because of their past performance. I'll do my research before buying this one.

I really really hope for their sake that they don't rush it out too early or do a lackluster job with later sweeping game changes as they've done in the past. I honestly don't think the community will put up with much more.

The whole pixar graphics interest me(TF2 anyone?). I'll give it a try, could be a fun time.

I don't care how bad SoE messed up, The Agency just sounds like such a great idea. I read an article about it, which included features and I've got to say that it sounds pretty amazing. While, the graphics aren't in my tastes, and frankly seem a bit too cartoony for the theme, I think the gameplay will more than make up for the loss. I just really hope, they can pull off some of the features they say they want to include. It'll be interesting to see what happens with this.

I've played many games, and the ones that I play change weekly. Currently I am very interested in Gunbound, Poker, and Kwon Ho once more. I am thinking of returning to Maple Story and Ghost Online.

Well if you take a look at thier sight the Flash animation has a Bullet sailing through the air as if it's been shot, yet amazingly it still has the casing around it!!  How'd they do that!  Sadly I think this is a perfect example of what is to come...   We'll see, it sounds cool, but then again so did Galaxies.

This is a game that will live and die by its beta testers
  • ZaceZace Member Posts: 77

I dont think the fact that a bullet remaining cased in the initial flash animation will comment upon the whole game, however it should be caseless.

I also LOVE the smoking gun.

I was lucky enough to beta several of Sony's past endeavours, and from their current range of products they have come on a LONG way.  They HAVE learned from past difficulties, so let's hope that this goes they way it should, and we all want.

No, before someone says, I am not a Sony Fanboye, but I was a professional developer and a manager, so I can see how things have developed.  All we have to do now is to sit back and wait for some concrete information to be released.

Of course, the clock is ticking.....

Hmmm, this forum thread will self destruct in 30 seconds (oohh yes mission:impossible, here we come)

Although it sounds like a cool idea....i wont be playing it.

it's a game with the SOE sign on it

I will take a 30 meter range arround it when I see it in the stores

I know that many won't understand it, but based on my experiences with this company I decided for me to take this step

of course anyone else has to decide for himself wether to buy/ try this game or not

I decided not to and I'm tired of explaining why over and over again.

Age of Conan will be my next game and I'm looking forward to it

(just my opinion, I hope I didnt make anyone angry with it, if so, I'm sorry)

I believe that we should give this game a fair shot. SOE hasn't screwed all of their MMO's up. I do believe that they created Everquest and EQ2, which, if I am right, were two of the most groundbreaking MMORPG's, and both still draw a ton of customers. Also, one thing that people need to learn is this: if more people subscribe to the game (and post on the forums that everything is OK), then SOE will be more hesitant to change it. Thoughts?

    here's the quote:

    2. We do not plan on making any major changes to Vanguard. Any changes are going to come from the team itself. We aren't mandating any big changes to the game. We've learned a thing or two with our experiences with the NGE and don't plan on repeating mistakes from the past and not listening to the players.

that may not be the word for word apology that you're looking for, but in my opinion it's a step in the right direction, I hated SOE for years after the CU, after finally getting fed up with WOW and checking out EQ2 i realized that they can touch a game and not destroy it, so i'm willing to give them another chance as a company.

that said, if they screw up again on a game i play, like they did SWG, i probably wouldn't give them another chance after that.

P.S. they're currently doing forum maintenance so that link isn't working atm.

*boggle*  Anyone making a decision to play this game based on the tidbit announced is just being ridiculous.  On the other hand, if you're discounting it just because you love dwarves and elves, that's fine, although perhaps your loss.  Really though, this kind of thread is extremely premature.
  • j1flawj1flaw Member Posts: 131
premature sure, but i'm willing to give it a chance as it is SOE. yes I am 1% of the people that actually likes SOE. pity me if you must lol

Ill try it first as a demo or open beta type of thing. Im not a big fan of SOE but the game looks interesting enough to make me want to give it a shot. Hell Im so desperate for anything not fantasy I dont really care who makes it.

I wont bother with any games SOE has it's hands in or develops, for 2 reasons.

1.SOE is the most arrogant mmog company out there, they refuse to listen to customers, they say they listen and give empty promises but in the end the customer receives a rapid kick combo to the teeth followed by a finishing "lie" .

2.SOE developers/GMs have adept "lying" training and basic "fake promise" training, enough said.

Also I think it's a bad idea to launch MMOGs in the next 3-4 years due to alot of promising titles already under development, and the whole "spy" thing wont attract alot of people and making fantasy games that have elfs wont realy bring any new customers either.

Yeah, it's going to be very busy. Tabula Rasa, Star Trek Online, Stargate:Worlds, Huxley, etc.

But I'm still gonna try and get in the beta :)

I am gonna pass because it's SOE. They don't respect their customers, constantly changing game fundamentals after release, all the while ignoring the wishes of current players who bought the game based on it's original design. It's just too risky to invest time in a SOE MMOG, since they have a track record of flipping direction 180 degrees and pulling the rug out from underneath the playerbase.

I might play it, depending on if Fallen Earth is better or not.

What games other than SWG did this happen in? I'm not too knowledgable in other games because the elves scene makes me cringe

Wtih the lill things you know about the game and basically nothing about how the game really will turn out i think it's WAYyyyyyyyyyyy too early to say if or if not you are going to play this game.Just my 2 cents....
