EQ2 players, what have you played?

It's just a little hard to believe that people are actually recommending this game to others.  There are many reasons I don't like it but I won't list them here since it'll become a wall of text, but I just want to know if those people recommending EQ2 have played other mmorpg's?  Other than being in a good guild of friends I don't see any reasons to recommend this game to anyone.  So have you EQ2 players tried any other games, and which ones?

I have played almost every major mmo, and have beta tested about every mmo.

and I would still recommend this game to others.

Hmm....I played these titles and I STILL think EQ2 is better than all of them.

    Final Fantasy Online

    Ultima Online

    EQ1

    Planetside

    City Of Heros

    City Of Villans

    Eve Online

    D&D Online

    Dark Age Of Camelot

    Ragnarok Online

    Star Wars Galaxies

    World Of Warcraft

Every and any Free to Play Asian Point and Click piece of crap.

    Guild Wars

    Shadowbane

    Anarcy Online

    Asherons Call 1 and 2

    Auto Assault

Any other questions? EQ2 still owns them all.

Hmm lets see...I started off playing UO,then moved to Everquest 1 when the game opened. I played EQ for around 5 years or so mostly as a hardcore raider. I played AO for about a total of a few years off and on,DAOC off and on from day 1 as well. I tried EQ2 when the game first launched and was rather disapointed in the game. It was a mess of bugs and very unstable, which didn't bother me too much because I went to WoW shortly after, and played that off and on over the last few years as well. But Burning Crusade expansion killed my desire to play that anymore.

Anyways...I went back to EQ2 after about 6 months after release and found it to be rather enjoyable. Way better then it was at release...since then I've played it off and on,rotating between EQ2 and CoH/CoV.  My girlfriend and I are both currently playing EQ2 as our main mmorpg and loving it.     I've tried a few other mmorpgs, but they were not very enjoyable. Vanguard and FFXI to name a few.

I certainly would recommend EQ2 to people looking for a new game to try...but obviously it's not going to float everyones boat.

I agree with the OP... EQ2 was just too linear and lifeless for my liking.

See sig.  I recommend it because it is the most solid MMO on the market today.   $40 never got you so much content.   Decent graphics, tons of content, good replayability, Non-instanced PvP on the pvp servers, 24 classes, 18 races, housing, best guild functionality, it has everything world of warcraft has, but more and taken an extra step.  I would definitely recommend it, and I don't like SoE.   This is the only game they have they is done right imo.

    I recommend it to everyone.

hmm other then diablo...i started with EQ1...just after the release of Kunark.  And continued playing till after Lost Dungeons of Norrath.  Then due to my activites on message boards Beta tested SWG and am still playing.  Now before i started playing EQ2 (i waited awhile due to computer Inaduaquatesies) then Beta Tested City of Heroes and continued to play then, Tested for CoV as well.  NCSoft puts out a decent game.  I've since then played dozens of games from BetaTesting some of the hottest games out there, as well as playing them.  Matrix Online, Dungeon and Dragons Online, Planetside, LoTRo, 9Dragons, Voyage Century, Dungeon Runners, Vanguad (sucks imo), World of Warcraft (also sucks imo) Ryzom Ring (aka Saga of Ryzom), BoTs, Guild Wars,.....and i'm sure there's 4 or 5 i've tested but have forgotten....

    Current:EQ2,SWG,Matrix,Planetside
    Testing:9Dragons,Dungeon Runners
    Veteran:EQ1,CoH/V,WoW,LoTRO,DDO,BoTS

I've played MMORPGs and MUDs for the better part of ten years, starting with Toril (Soujourn), Gemstone III, and Meridian 59.

That being said, only three games have kept my attention over the past couple of years.

DAoC. I made it to level 50  and played off and on for a few years. I would still consider playing, but population is so low these days.

LoTRO. I beta'd since the first or second phase. Good game, will probably pick it up at retail if a Rohan expansion ever hits shelves.

EverQuest 2. I currently have a level 35 Paladin over a few months of casual play. This is perfect for me because I own a business and really can't hardcore game these days like when I was a kid. The game is growing a bit stale but I want to get my character to at least 40 before I consider hanging up the sword for a while. I really think that their Kunark expansion will be a huge success.

EDIT: I also played WoW for a year or so but it was far too easy, even on the PVP server. I hit level 44 and quit for good.

Every single MMO on the left of this website I have played except for Ragnarok Online, Roma Victor, and RF Online as well as served on board many of these MMOs as a volunteer Official forum moderator and volunteer ingame helper and customer service respresentative ranging from companies such as CCP to SOE

And I can tell you in my opinion, I find EQ2 to be a very entertaining MMORPG and a very tight game. I loved it so much I became a GM there

Sorry you hate it, you're really missing out on a lot.

Ultima Online, City of Heroes/Villains, World of Warcraft, Everquest, Guild Wars, Auto Assault, Dark Age of Camelot, Star Wars Galaxies, Vanguard.  Everquest II is still my favorite.

Not everybody has to like the same games as you. Look up the word "opinion" when you get a chance.

My first MMO like game was a MUD    Gemstone  great fantastic game even if it was only text!

UO - off and on since launch (the creation of feluccia brought me back)

EQ1 - Hated it the first time I tried it, came back a few months later loved it from scars of velious up to planes of power

EQ2- off and on since launch & the late stages of beta, usually just rl conlflicts to why i'm not there.  EQ2 is what you make of it, but there's no pigeon hold at the end.  You don't have to do the exact same thing as everyone else.  Guild progression, no other game has it in the sense that EQ2 does and it helps build community in smaller new guilds.  Its cool I don't see how anyone could say others have no right to promote it & question the background to gamers who do.  Most EQ2 fans are all long time gamers & mmo players.  Its not for everyone its not a family friendly everyone huggie bear farmer (there are farmers of course its there's just not 1 million of them (exaggeration of course) ) type game.

    SWG - beta tested it

WOW - late stages of beta & off / on since launch (i prefer EQ2 far more than wow.  Wow's like one giant repeat quest with different scenery )

    Lineage 2 - beta'd & hated it

Guild Wars - just wasn't my style but i played it

Anarchy Online - pretty cool sometimes i hate my friends for taking me there then flitting off to another game I was getting into it at that point

DDO - beta & curently playing Its a decent casual friendly game to play with my RL friends every so often no rush for anything no dumb "i need to look cool and have high rank" bs

FFXI - beta'd & hated.  I was just overly group centric, not that grouping is bad but its nice to have some down time

LoTR - beta'd & it was decent but to linear for me

Vanguard - .. *shivers* Sigil's managers & leader should be taken out back n beaten.

Horizons - good game, bad bad bad business sell out.  They sold to people who didnt knwo what they were doing and so on...massive problems just wasn't worth staying despite the relative freedom in the game

Please Refer to Doom Cat with all conspiracies & evil corporation complaints. He'll give you the simple explination of..WE"RE ALL DOOMED!

LOL, well, except for one of the failing "sandbox" games atm, I can't see any alternative. I mean, level 2 usually follows level 1, that's pretty linear...

Started with EQ1, played a couple MUDS but never really "got into" any of them.

Played DAoC, Anarchy Online, Asheron's Call 1 and 2, Lineage, D&D Online, Horizons, Matrix Online, Saga of Ryzom, Shadowbane, WoW, Vanguard, and LotRO.

A few F2P games that are not really even worthy of mention.

EQ2 is the best Fantasy MMO at the moment, and I really don't see anything that spectacular coming out, so I'll probably play it forever. I might give The Agency a try with the SoE station pass.

EQ2 doesn't have it for me.. its slow paced, boring.. don't like the graphics, crafting is fun at first but gets old fast... generic "find the ore node and mine it" system.. dunno it just never grabbed me, I've tried at least 5 times to get into it, and I can't.

Yeah, I hate that. I like those innovative games where the ore nodes walk into your house and mine themselves.

dont forget eq2 was among the first games ( that i know of) to have such a crafting system, and perhaps you are bored of it at this point but it was certainly innovative. If you think EQ2 is so linear and boring I wonder why you even play MMO's, and what exactly you expect
