If you like fantasy, EQ 2.

If you like sci fi, SWG.

If you want an enormous sandbox, Vanguard.

You can try free trials.  Most games give you 10 days.  You could always take an MMO break.  It's summer, go play Frisbee.

Yea everquest 2 is actually ok but only because its been out a while.

Err SWG is a bit lacking in players i hear

Vanguard is a seriously bugged game full of Blackscreens of death and cliping errors. Also most of the content promised looks to be not coming out now.

Sadly i cant recommend any as most of my experience comes in the best sci-fi MMO out there right now EvE online.

Oh you know that don't you? I haven't seen a bug in MONTHS and the performance is amazingly different from what it was at launch. Way to talk about a game you probably haven't even played, and if so, haven't played it past the first week.

Also, SWG is a corpse of a game that was brutally raped and murdered by SOE.

Try City of Heroes/Villians. It's a nice change from all the fantasy MMO's out there. It's pretty fast-paced, and it has no elves.... Or Dwarfs... Or Jedi.. In this game, you decide what you what to be, with the best character creater out there. (lol I sound like a salesperson)

I am in the same boat as you are buddy. I'm tired of WoW and canceled my subscription a few days ago. At first I thought I would just find another MMO to play to keep me entertained until AoC comes out., but now I am just taking a complete MMO break. I would suggest that you just take a break from the MMO scene for the summer this way when AoC or WAR comes out (or the game that most appeals to you) you won't be MMO burnt. Then again if nothing soon to be released appeals to you then try out some free trials and see what you like.

You can try out Dark Age of Camelot it is a pretty old mmo but it is still pretty fun with RVR (PVP) Mythic has a 14 day trial that you can try out to see if you like it or not.

That’s a good one, I’ve been thinking of reactivating after finally leaving my PlanetSide subscription in the dust after a couple years of disappointing nerfs and patches. Not so much intense action in wwiio but the strategy and simulation is very satisfying.

Other than that, what else besides WoW (concerning the OP)? try life! Not so much lag, really. I’m looking fwd to PotBS and StarTrek Online… and some indie mmogs, but life works too! good for a laugh at least, though the subscription rates can be murder, sometimes. http://www.getafirstlife.com/

I'll recommend Ryzom for a game you didn't list which has a very helpful and positive community. The game isn't to everybody's taste, but you can try it out for free.

You could also try to switch realm, maybe including realm type - PvE/PvP/RP - and/or faction. The differences between realm and faction communities in WoW is huge. If you don't want to re-roll, at least scout with a new character before paying for a transfer.

    I'm bored so I'll play:

Up top on the page here there's this link called "Game list"

Go take a browse through there and try some of them.

I really enjoy SWG a lot, btw.  But it is more hard to solo now.

For walk down memory lane, or to be considered a history lesson: Asheron's Call 1. It has a 15 day (or whatever) trial, and you can cancel anytime. :3 For a taste of RVR, and what not from Mythic, try Dark Age of Camelot.

Other than that, I say pick up Gothic 3 or maybe some strategy game of your choice, or a good NES emulator and play the old school 8bit games. :3

Heh your in my boat to  :P cept i cancelled my WoW account about 2 months ago and have been trolling forums day in and day out since, I thought about getting EQ2 to see what that was like but the population is probably a barren waste land.    Sitting around another 8 months till WAR comes out is going to be rough

Yay i'm like all the other people in this thread!

But seriously, I would read up on already released games and download the trials available.

Released games are released waaaay back in the day and ALL of them (xcept EVE) look like it. After playing WoW, all of them feel like they are half assed, choppy, crappy or just buggy, even though they aren't, they just look like that. Only way someone can realy enjoy those old games is if they started with them and can appretiate how fun and enjoying they were when they were new...

I'm not saying they are bad, it's just the way of things, there will always be people who can look past the graphics and crappy animations, but for the rest of us, we love the eye candy, we love the fluid movement animations, we love the feel of a game where it's just fun to jump around and feel the part, and it's realy hard when your avatar looks like he's 89 years old and one jump could kill him.

So, for those who are looking for another game except WoW, wait a couple more months and there is a chance you can find something else fun and pretty. For those who recomend games like Shadowbane, CoX, even SWG... comeon, get real, it's like saying to someone who just finished Half Life2, hey man, if you want something realy fun, go try Quake 2, it's an oldy but goldy, NO IT's NOT, it was in its day, but today it looks like shit and plays even worse.

EQ, when I tryed it, not fun, same old, same old with pseudo realistic graphics that just turns out looking wierd and plastic..

Vanguard, heh, who you gonna trust?
