Is it because the game is easy to solo? 

I have been a member of several guildes now and every single one of them has bitten the furry applebag...

It seems all a Warcraft guild is, is a chat room. That is when you can get people to talk at all...

 

Whatever, am quickly getting fed up playing this game.. Not because of game mechanics or anything like that, simply because the community sucks...

Perhaps you should consider setting up your own guild with people you like.

My experiences have shown me that when players whine that they've been in several guilds and they didn't mesh with any of them, it's usually about the *player*, not the guilds.......

Actually, I have set up my own guild, but was talked into moving servers to join some RL friends. But my guild is only myself and a guy that used to work next door to me.

I figure if I am gonna end up playing solo most of the time I might as well have a nice tabard and goofy guild name flying over my head.

There is no whining here, what was posted was a question, why do the guilds suck in these games? As I stated before the majority of the guilds I have been associated with were nothing more than chat rooms. I would like to know why.

Nothing wrong with this player other than slight annnoyance at your quick and uninformed labeling of me as a "whiner".

Perhaps it's because the incentives to work together as a guild aren't there as much as they were in games like UO and EQ where they had much more severe consequences than WoW such as full loot and xp loss they were more hardcore in nature and thus relied on a more unified community in general. That or maybe your just annoying and people don't like you it's hard to tell really.

As someone who personally roleplays more than levels in MMORPG's I can say this, World of Warcraft, no matter how you state it as an opinion or fact, has to have the most crap community I've ever come across in my life, there are people I've managed to find amongst them who were cool sure, but that was only a few out of the millions, even then some of the people that I did make friends with would turn into arseholes the moment that they found something they didn't like, it's not the player, it's the general community that Blizzard have created. They've made a game that encourages this sort of behavior, there is nothing in this game for the players except loot and rewards for them to flaunt around to other people, the crafting system is the same even if it is crap, you get items for the exact same thing, then you have healers that have been nerfed so much no one really cares anymore so that gets rid of the idea of teamwork, there is nothing in this game that encourages people to be a community and that is why the community has become the way it is compared to when the game was first released.

Only guilds i don't like are the ones that have rules no one tells me about and then i get kicked lol....Hidden Order on Alexstraza is on top..of course the guild was horriable anyway...

Most guilds are nice good and have some people that help anytime you need it. some guilds just have people that hate everyone and people are never on.

        Its not the guild its the players in the guild if you don't like the community then perhaps you should try going to a diffrent server thats always an option i mean each server had diffrent people and diffrent guilds

Most times its the players not the guilds i've been kicked and left many guilds in my time because i didn't know the rules but mostly because of the players in them.

If your gonna blame it on someone or something blame it on the Players not the Guilds

Join a guild that takes more than "can I join ur guild plz" to get in.

 

 

Serriously, I joined my current guild a couple months back. They had me run some stuff with them (we did AQ20 for fun, for example. This was post-TBC) and I ran some instances. They decided I was good enough and liked my personality and let me in.

 

The guild, serriously, is just a large family guild that is actually  progressing nicely. We just started raiding 2 weeks ago and almost have kara completly killed (got prince to 30% on an atempt). To top it off none of the members are annoying little kids or bad players. Since the entire guild really just decides if they like a new member before that guy joins we make sure we have a good guild all in all.

 

 

 

Not all guilds suck, a lot of guilds that will invite anyone do suck though.

i know how the OP feels, thats why ill be quitting the game...again, its the people that ruin the game, i asked someone once(i was starting out on a new server) to make me some rings cause i had the gems, but not the whole 6 copper bars you needed to make said jewelery, and then never replied to me...if thats the extent of how people playing this game is gonna be they can all go screw themselves..with a stick...

Seriously,  It's all about the guild.  Hell if I wasn't in the guild I'm in I would've quit a long time ago.  As it is I have two lvl 70 characters and we raid alot and we all enjoy each others company and we have alot of fun.   It's all about your guild and friends made online.  This can be said for any mmo.  Without that connection, the friendships you may as well just go play Doom or or Dungeon Siege.

If you have a crappy guild, get out and find a better one.  Be particular when shopping around for one.  Right now it's probably hard to get into a good guild because everyone is gearing up in kara for Gruul's or beyond and there aren't any spots available.  

Anyways, just my two copper.

"can I join your guild please?" doesn't do a damn bit of good.

 

Guilds with trial periods and application procedures is what youll see progress and organization in.

My guilds all a bunch of RL friends and its great, but not everyone can have that.

First of all.. YOU DONT need a guild to play the game at all... not anymore anyway

 

Judgeing a whole community basied on a experiance you had on 1 of the 300+ servers Id say is a bit dramatic..

TBH.. have you tried hanging out with people before accepting the first invite you get from

Well .. Lost souls slowly grows.. we dont recruit but most of our ppl that join come from meeting a member and grouping with them in instances , random quests, or PVP.

We have a decent guild that has alot of fun.

Thats the Key right there. FUN , play video games for fun. When anyone takes it as serious business. Well, you all ready lost and will be miserable in any MMO.

Simply put: You get what you deserve...

Good players with alot of OMPH get good guilds with alot of OMPH

..Not so good players get Not so good guilds

"Hay, I R huntard leet, join yur guild plox!!!" players will get a cardboard box a small amount of shoepolish.

So what you Should be looking for is a RAID guild or a PVP guild that defines themself as end-game.

(Also do remember that apart from raiding and pvping, there's only chatting to be done in a guild as the rest is solo content)
