Is it just me, or has the number of english-speaking forum posts on the official site dramatically reduced?
Being that I've not played for about a year, I'm not really sure what that means. Was there another mass exodus of players shortly after the buyout? If the state of the population is worse now than when it was when I left, it makes me not want to renew my sub (which I think about doing now and again).
If, as I'm sure many will say, "Everything is fine..." then why has forum activity gone down so much there?

Well there was a huge issue with the closing of CHO. Many returning players came back because of CHO and the ability to start over, new with everyone. So when CHO was merged with Aristople, many left. There was also an issue over the new company not picking up JOLT as the CSR team, and some left as well, alot of my roleplaying friends actually. There is also that whole stagnant thing, not much has changed since they purchased Ryzom.
They have been very limited in communication as far as I have seen. There hasn't been any news or press on Ryzom since the purchase, as well as no advertising for the game like what Nevrax was doing. I love Ryzom, it has been a great game for me from the start, but things have dwindled so much since the buyout in my opinion.
The community that is there is still the best by far, and that will never change, I just hope Gameforge picks up some speed and brings this game back into the light it deserves.
Wrong,
just because you did not see any comemrcials does not mean there has not been any advertisement.
GF did send literally MILLIONS of Mails to ALL their previous customers on their Browsergames recently.
And I think we´re seeing the result of that just now. There is an influx of Newbes, but not such a mssive one as might be needed.
*sigh*
And many people do their own advertiseing, on Boards and such.
This helps at least a little

Wrong, generally speaking people playing browsergames arent people who play MMORPG's, thats where the logic of GF fails imho.

Uhm? Did I say that they are?
I just said that there is some kind of advertising.
I did not say it was the right kind, or that it succeded in any satisfatory way.
I agree with you. But they did try.
Even if it did not help that much.

There has not been many news about Ryzom on MMORPG.COM's news page for a very long time. Before the bankrupcy Nevrax released, at least, some kind of news every other week here.
Gameforge could do better, in my opinion.
In my opinion GF has put the ads on hold, to wait first for the new quests developed. Most of the time new players are expecting an usual MMo with quests driving them into game, and have hard time when they discover the sandbox nature of the game(that makes Ryzom so unique and wonderful, imho).

Part of the belief they aren't advertising might be that the advertising they are doing is through their existing network of sites and browser games and those are more strongly focused on other languages then English?
On a side point, how is that new server that they took Cho down for doing?
From what i can see the quests will not take you up to the 'next' level quests. I.E once you complete the level 50 melee quests, you're not going to already be level 100 melee. so still means you have the sandbox element.

omg i tried it today, and the sandbox nature of it has me hooked! please tell me they arent changing that
I sure hope the don´t!
They will put in the loooong promised new Missions and some other stuff, that Nevrax didn´t finish on time, but they will keep the Game in general as it is.
At least thats the official statement they made.

They are busy with improving and fine-tuning the sweets of the game. The 1h combat, the ranged fighting and other stuff like this.
They have fixed quite a few nasty bugs already and implemented nice additions like the casino wheel.
They promised to present the new high-lvl zone - the kitin lair when the time comes and I am really looking forward to that aswell.
Way to go GAMEFORGE! we atysians, believe in you

Interesting. You make that assumption because in other games players don't speak well of the devs?
Well in this game they do.
If you have any doubts look here. http://forums.ryzom.com/forum/showthread.php?t=30863 this is just an example of my post on main game forums.
See the join date under my char? it says Oct 2005. And when did gameforge take over? Duh
So go yourself, won't you...
