You create a Superhero or Villain then start them out on a career of protecting the public or of infamy. You run missions from contact , clear the streets of mobs. They are individual games that function together. Mostly through PvP, but they just added a full Cooperative zone today in Issue 10. I prefer Villainside myself, most people prefer Heroside.
You can fight eachother as for which one is better they are both basically the same it is just a few different classes and stuff. Hero side is kind of light towns green grass and villain side is dark and broken down. I liked the game when I played it but I only played it for about 2 months because me and my uncle got it and started playing it then he didn't want to pay for it so we just kind of quit. So if you get it try and have a friend play with you but its not hard to make friends in game most people are really friendly. If you decide to get it I hope you enjoy.
Besides the new cooperative zone, the Rikti Warzone, there are several pvp zones that the two sides can duke it out in but largely there are places exclusive to each side.
- Rikti War Zone, this is a Co-op zone, you are all against the Rikti. (There was 5 instance of this zone yesterday on Liberty, 1 of the lowest population server, never saw that many instance of 1 zone in the past)
- Pocket D, this is a party zone, again a co-op zone although only a little to do there.
You can fight each other in:
- Bloody bay, Team PvP. I dunno much, I go there for my shivans!
- Siren's Call, Team PvP. Zone control is important.
- Warbug, FFA, you fight everyone you want except those in your groups.
- Recluse Victory, Team PvP. Many NPCs around.
- Arena Matches, you set the rules and everything, create an instanced fighting pit.
That's been said, the game is about:
- PvE grouping.
- PvE soloing.
- Customisation.
If you loves these 3 points, especially in that order, then the game is a gem for you.

It's all about instancing and feeling like your playing a single box game.
Everything resolve around grouping in CoH.
If you don't get it, you don't get anything about this game.
Yes, soloing is better in CoH/CoV then any other MMOs out there, however, everything in the game, is aimed at grouping. Grouping always as everything done for it when it clash with any other gameplay...and I am looooving it. Real groupers love instancing when done right, which is the case here.

As I said in my previous post:

They DO interact, but mostly through PvP. As of today, they have a full cooperative zone, expanding on the limited Pocket D zone.

Other than that they are completely separate but are the same game. Different AT and different zones same engine and mechanics.
