How rich is this company?

Well, the company Blizzard who makes WoW has over 9 Million online subscribers to their games now, with each of these players paying $15 a month to play that game, that means that every month Blizzard is getting $15x9Million players, this isnt even counting the up front $50 the players have to pay to buy the game, with the online subscriptions alone, and not counting the game buying fee, Blizzard is making close to  $1,620,000,000 a year, thats almost 2 Billion U.S Dollars!  Is the maker on the Forbes list? Post if you know.

As I recall, Blizzard is owned by Vivendi, which is an entertainment megacorporation based in France. There might be some wrinkle to that ownership that I don't know about, and the situation may have changed in the lass couple of months since I last checked.

Realisticly they are probably not making more than about $5 on each user.

Without really being sure of how things are split with The9 in china for example its hard to know what Blizzard is getting there

Vivendi Video games Depatment made something in the area of 280m in revenue (not profit mind u)  last quarter. this is apparently largely WOW

So it all depend on their overhead

The have around 2700 employees to pay thats anywhere from 50 - 150 mill  a year depending uppon how much they pay they Customer service guys.

After all Operation expenses probably ONLY making about Half a billion a year in profit .

lol the way you put only in bold makes it seem like half a billion a year is not so much. That's just how I read into it.

FYI, many regions pay much less than $15 a month.  Asian countries have an hourly time card payment method.  Their fees are also much less because nobody there would pay $15 a month.

P.S. This is the third thread this month talking about Blizzard proffits.  =P   If you want more informaiton go back a few pages.

I'd have to say Vivendi Universal is going quite well, especially the Vivendi Games division. This is from their 2006 Annual Press Release.

"Vivendi Games’ EBITA of €115 million is 109% above the prior year (same increase on a constant currency basis). This significant improvement was driven by growth in revenues, with a large proportion relating to the higher margin of the World of Warcraft’s exceptional worldwide success. EBITA is also impacted by expenses linked to the launches of the new Sierra Online and Vivendi Games Mobile divisions.

Vivendi Games’ performers in 2006 included World of Warcraft as well as new releases Scarface: The World is Yours, Ice Age 2, The Legend of Spyro: A New Beginning , Eragon , and F.E.A.R. (for Xbox 360)."

That's just one division of a multidivisional corporation. Vivendi also has Vivendi Music Group, Vivendi Canal+ Group, Vivendi SFR, and Maroc Telecom. Overall, they were up 18% to 2.9 billion Euros in 2006. They aren't hurting for money.

Unfortunately, Kiba, your numbers are way off as you can see from this. In 2006, WoW still had millions of users, but to only pull 115 million Euros across the entire VU Games division shows they are not pulling in anywhere near €15 from every player of WoW.
