Best PvP MMORPG you've played to date

Just wondering what everyone here considers to be the best PvP they've experienced in a MMORPG. So far for me its been Guild Wars; so....

for an mmo i havnt played a good one with pvp yet though i heard lineage is pretty good with pvp.  for orpg's i would say gw since its a corpg not a mmo. argue how much you want but the developers said its a corpg.

Saddly, the best PvP MMO I've played was WoW. I've played Guild Wars, but I enjoyed WoW's PvP more than that. That's not saying much, though.

  • Guild War is a CORPG, that is public information from ArenaNet. But it share much with other mmorpg. But because of the unique CORPG was one of the first game to become a real game within E-Sport.

UO gets my vote... pre-trammel of course.

Nothing better than FFA PvP... had to watch your back everywhere you went. I got pissed off alot while I was playing it, but man, now that it's gone, oh how many memories it has brought me, memories that even almost 10 years down the road... still bring a smile to my face. Not to mention the gigantic guild wars that used to happen.

I wasn't ever a PK in that game either... and I still had a ton of fun, I was one of those people that helped out them people... yanno... the anti-PK "good guy" lol.

DAoC comes in a close 2nd though. Had some good times with RvR too.

Guildwars out of those, but where's runescape?

    Playing: Xsyon.
    Played:

The best PvP you will ever get is in the military lol... seriously though the only game that is 100% PvP (more so RvR actually) is PlanetSide. No monsters or NPCs (unless you count the Turrets shooting while unmanned). I don't play PS any more, but it has to be only of the best PvP games I've played (way different then any other MMO released so far).

DAoC is killing this poll...  By far the most fun I've ever had in an MMO.  I don't know why I haven't started up my account again.  I guess I'm hoping for a new and better PvP based game!  Fingers crossed for WAR.

shadowbane had to have been the most fun i ever had in a pvp game. if you forget about all the crashes and errors it was awesome

Not played DAoC but respect players of that who esteem it for its pvp. It certainly has pvp I've heard of that seems most appropiate to mmorpgs. Of the mmorpgs I have played I've enjoyed WoW the most for the following reasons. 1) Pvp is accessible to many. (2) it incorporates an aspect of teamwork (3)It doesn't have classes that are too excessively powerful- and every class has some strength- some other mmos can neglect some classes or have really excessively powered classes.

Of course, its criticism is obviously there is no meaning to it and gear maybe has too much impact.

Asheron's Call had the best PvP of any MMO to date, with the exception of possibly UO. I personally did not play UO but maybe people who agreed upon the greatness of AC had high praise for it and I trust their opinions. So I'd have to go with either Asheron's Call or UO any other choice is one made out of inexperience.  I've basically played every other MMO on that list and none of them compare.

I can't believe some people voted for WoW!?  lol oh well, prolly just lacking experience in MMOs.

I voted UO.  I've heard DAoC has great PvP, but I've never played so I would have to say UO.  Of course UO today is nothing compared to old school UO PvP.

Completely agree. Darktide AC was the best PvP I have ever played. Kinda sad that turbine has bungled so many MMOs since. They need to come back with a decent PvP title.

I second this post. You're all crazy if you think any game's PvP came anywhere close to AC or UO. Most other games were too cheesy. Real PvP is when you lose at least some of the clothes off your own body and have to dig up the spare set in your bank to go and get revenge. In AC, the first step after tutorial was to RUN into the mountains and solo your way to a decent level and hopefully get into a guild. Freaking amazing, that's what it was.

    Dark Age of Camelot

  • its prolly older than alot of you poeple but EQ on rollos zek was and is still the best true pvp game/server  to date

was open pvp and when ya got smoked for talking smack you would lose one peace of clothing and all your shinie's

after EQ DAOC took over pvp with rvr....and as far as WOW...no terratorial gains nor death pebalty makes pvp completely usless

    this is just MHO=p

  • ShiinekoShiineko Member Posts: 161

Though, you guys probably haven't heard of the title it's on the game list.

Neocron.  One of the best PVP games ever, and one of the best environmental setting in a game.  Sadly, the game has changed too much and it's near it's death.  If they revive NC1 I'll go back before you can say wtfbitch.

Oh, also.. Age of Conan tried to take the title of "FIRST MMO WITH MATURE RATING!" -- but Neocron had a mature rating, although I'm not sure if it was the first it is definitely released waaay before AoC!

PlanetSide, is it even a contest?  You can actually implore real tactics in Planet Side, and your skill is a huge factor.

On the Mature Rating MMO thing.  There are a few in development and a couple released.  However, the real issue is in what context they are implemented.  Obviously, a porn game isn't going to make much of a game or really add any depth to the game.  However with something like Age of Conan, mature content plays a huge role to the universe.

UO then a tie between guildwars and eve. Also Daoc in there somewhere. All these games pvp are so different its hard to compare.

    ----ITS A TRAP!!!----

  • ndpunchndpunch Member Posts: 208

UO, million times better than anything else, and I've played almost all of them. Ok, EVE comes close.

  • Ghost12Ghost12 Member Posts: 684

Shame on you. Asheron's Call isnt listed, and its known to have one of the most brutal but fun PvP servers out there. Shame on ya!

  • FarseenFarseen Member UncommonPosts: 344

Star Wars Galaxies pre-CU and even after CU it was still decent.

I had the most fun in SWG. Unique classes, awesome city battles and a real outcome. Like the loss of a city if too many of your bases were destroyed. Plus I've never ridden in as much style...4 or 6 person vehicles (i forget)....come on, it doesn't get much better when you pull up to an Imperial Base with a Commando, Bounty Hunter and Jedi.....thats just awesome.

Hard to make it sound sick though, just had to be there.

Ultima Online had really sick PvP too.....watched my friend for the most part, never got into it as much, except when Server Wars started, hehe.

I also enjoyed WoW's obviously, its nicely done. I had a lot of fun until thye mashed all the PvP into one big queue. That was lame....now there are people just way too good....I came back after 6 months of not playing and just got wrecked.

Anarchy Online had a sweet system two. Battlefields and tower defense, thats rude. Plus the classes were awesome, so everyone was unique...and with over 200 levels, you had some wide range PvP going on! And MAJOR twinking..haha.

Overall though -- SWG. But I have heard the best about DAoC.
