My first impressions of OB

Now, I'm not going to say this game is amazing, but I'm also not going to bash it. I'm just going to give my views that I saw from the beginning of the game.

Like many others..I downloaded this game the second that I was able to. Now people were saying on the forums that they were having much trouble with the client download. Though I downloaded it from filefront and had no problems whatsoever. I downloaded the game, which took a little while because lots of people were downloading at the same time..though that is of course expected. I had also read on the forums that the server was not online, but others were saying it was online. Once the download was done...I installed it and started it up. I logged in, created a character and connected. The connection was pretty fast and I had no problems at all. I started to grind on enemies because I wasn't quite sure what I was supposed to be doing. I got to about level 8 and than I went back into town to try and get some new skills or armor. I got a new skill, a fishing pole and a fishing skill. I than leveled up to 9, and took a break. The game so far was pretty fun. The grinding was not to boring for some reason...I think that I really liked the maps and the creatures that you fight. To me it was more fun than the normal grind. Though I'm not sure if all there is to this game is grind...I doubt thats all there is..so my first impression is that this game is probably got some good potential. Even though it seemed to me that it had some grind....it really wasnt nearly as bad as other grinders. I am going to continue to play this game for a bit, and maybe it will turn out good. Let's just all hope that this game does not turn into another game filled with hackers, bots, and nothing good.

I was really dissapointed, stupid to think a F2P mmorpg could be any good.

Horrible graphics ( like a bad PS1 game), horrible interface, instance based.

And imagine, a PVP game without and attack button, this means u gotta double click your opponent every time u move or hit off a skill.

Only got to level 21 so cant say i really played the game, but those things mentioned above really turned me off.

    Uh... yea...

    Try changing the attack mode.

Oh, and for a MMORPG, the graphics are great.

    The graphics are ok.

you can use the ~ key to attack... you do NOT have to double click.

Decent enough game... it is more MMOlight like most of acclaims F2P games.

One thing that always always bugs me... why do they make everyone look the same.... Seriously get more then 1 person in the art department and make a game with visual options. Seeing 50 copies of yourself gets really really boring.

Well, who wants to tell us the kicker?

This game was touted by Dave Perry to be an adult oriented game, with graphic blood and gore/ adult language/etc.

Now, I haven't touched it since closed beta, but I know the only thing that would have made it even teen rated then would have been NPC's cussing every third word when giving you a quest.

So, did Perry deliver on his mature themed game, or was he talking out the side of his neck the whole time? And what differences has anyone who's played Rakion seen between the two games?

Is 2Moons basically  Rakion with a juvenile potty mouth?

    Details, please.

I'm sure you saw this, but in case you didnt, the game defaults to the lowest spec graphics (16bit).

If you go into options and change this to 32bit with a higher res, and increase the textures and other options, its looks a lot prettier. Not amazing, but a hell of a lot better than when first installed. Little touches like the shadows of the clouds crossing the ground add to it for me.

2moons is the not greatest game ever, but it is a good game when compared to the other F2P games out there.

Oh and its got Mounts and PvP battlegrounds!

yeah that bugs me too, everyone looks the same...

    my imppression is:

the game graphically is good, but i didnt know what to do when i 1st logged in .. i didnt know where my sword went .. i was holding a sword and all of a sudden it disapeared... im sure i did something but i never knew, anyways... game is good .. control is WASD but not the WASD you know ...control is a bit difficult you need to get used to it !!

i only played 15 mins then i had to leave .. didnt get the WOW feeling/factor in it, i will give it another shot soon.

I dont know if american keyboards are mapped different than european,  probably a bit different than swedish anyway cuz i dont really have a ~ button.

I do have § button wich usually works as ~ for console etc, but dont work like an attack button in 2 moons, thats for sure =)

Anyway, this is a great game for beein a F2P. I was a bit hard in a my judgement because i expected so much of it.  And like i said before i didnt even come close to endgame.

About the graphics beeing good for a mmorpg i couldnt agree less, graphics still "suck" compared to most i´ve played.

edit: A quick alt+shift and i can use the ~ key, helped a bit :P

Wow your chatting complete rubbish, the attack system people have already told you about so no need for me to tell you again. But the instancing, how has nobody else pulled you up on how wrong you are about this yet.

THE GAME IS NOT INSTANCED. im guessing your talking about when you goto another area and it hits a loading screen thats called zoning, you goto another area full of OTHER people.

An instance is when you goto an area and only YOU are in it by yourself unless you invite other people into via a party. 2Moons is not like that at all. An instance is like a private hunting area and i havnt seen even 1 of these in 2Moons and iv been in the game since early closed beta.

I find it anoying how people post such miss informed crap all the time.

Dunno why people are hating on the graphics, they are pretty average with most other F2P games out now (better than alot) look at SRO, Rappelz, Last Chaos etc. You have to remember this games already been out like a year or 2 (maybe more) in Korea, so really, it doesnt look all that bad at all.

Man are you blind ? Let me guess you are running on a windows 98 computer and the grahpics look bad for you ? I run everything on high and it looks pretty nice , the water reflects my armor and i can see the sun bounce of the blades of the swords ..

Second of all this game is not instanced at all, and you don't even need to double click  to attack someone. So please gtfo

  • Well, I don't know about you guys/girls but I thought the graphics were pretty nice looking. I too have them on fullest settings....not an oblivion engine, but for a MMORPG I figured it looked pretty nice. I have played several other MMO's and found to like these graphics more than most of the ones I've previously played. I think that a little instancing is good..Guild Wars is basically full instanced and I thought for that to be a little...idk.....just not MMORPGish. I still like guild wars, but I also like 2Moons. The game never has given me a "WOOOOOW" feeling, but it does give me a nice felling. I think I like the game so much because mostly of the feel of it. I like the creatures and the areas and I also love the fishing. Well...it depends on how you look at things and what your looking for. For me, I think 2moons is pretty good, but others may think it has horrible graphics and do not wanna play just cause of that...not saying any names *coughs Oriax* lol jk

Like i said in a previous post, i came in to 2 moons thinking of something exceptional for a F2P game, i expected something along the lines with Lineage 2.   That was a mistake, if i have set my expectations lower im sure i would have appreciated it more.

I do run the game with highest possible graphic settings, thank u for asking   .

As for the game beeing instanced, its not built out of instances but they are there, to have instances at all in a game who proclaims itself an all out PvP game, well yeah.  Game is zoned as well ofc, wich doesnt make it any better.

Anyway, FOR A F2P game the graphics are ok, and the game as a whole is good for a F2P. I just expected to much and became dissapointed. It will never be the 24/7 fix i´am looking for in a game, but not everyone needs/wants a game like that  i suppose.

Well if you want a game you can play for fun 24/7, have the best graphics, gameplay, etc.... sorry to say it but you are going to have to bust out your wallet, just the way it is unfortunately.

If you want a game that will absorb every ounce of your life look no further then FFXI (though i have to say one of the best mmos, i just cant make that much of a dedication).

If you want a game with fancy graphics.... well theres alot of those, goodluck finding one with good gameplay.

If you want a game thats not instanced (well technically it does have instances IN it but pretty much the entire world is one) go play WoW (LOL).

never played linage 2 so i cant comment on that

  • I played Lineage 2 for a short time, and the graphics actually remind me of 2moons. I liked it, but it just wasn't for me. If your looking for great graphics than maybe try out Everquest II. Those graphics are some of the best I've ever seen in a MMO. If you don't like instances, incase you don't already know...Guild Wars is fully instanced, so definitly don't get that one. Maybe try Everquest II or try out Perfect World.

I'm planning on trying it out, but I'm expecting some serious failure. Not so much in the realm of the game being bad, but I'm already hearing constant and horribly misspelled bitching about bots everywhere and goldfarmer spam and exploits. The F2P MMO crowd tends to draw a certain type of community that is, well, to be nice, "less than desirable"

Well I have been looking forward to this game heard the hype and didn't really think it would stand up at all. . .Well I was wrong, so far I am definatly enjoying even the grinding. . .No going and searching for MOBs and tonnes of running around. The graphics don't compare to WoW, but as on an earlier post in this topic. . .Turn up the graphics and it looks pretty good. Overall for a F2P MMORPG such as this, which seems also to have a tonne of quests. . .and mounts and such it's a good game. The downer is the fact there are 6 characters. . .I would have prefered, 6 classes and being able to choose what you look like more variations so you don't see yourself running around beside and behind you. . .But other than that. . .I'd say it's an awesome game!!!!

  • GarrikGarrik Member UncommonPosts: 965

I retract my statement of no instances, i have now found the newbie maze etc (which is awesome) it wasnt there in CB when i played, but still it isnt half as instanced as the poster who i was quoting was making out.

Really the only downside to 2Moons is the lack of character customisation, but hopefully DP is working with the Devs to sort that as alot of people have expressed there thoughts on it. Even in CB it was talked about alot, so i think he will most probably get somthing done about it.

Either way the game is awesome and i cant wait for the Dead Front expansion to come out and to really get into the PVP parts of the game.

    Bagi FTW.

  • Question..what is Dead Front? Also, I like the game too, but....lately all I have been having to do is lots of grind, so I decided to do some quests,  but they don't seem to give you experience...just items. Any other ways to get xp?

  • MiyoshiMiyoshi Member Posts: 61

i did some quest and got something from 1 to 5% exp reward , in other word nothing ! As i mentionned in another post 2moons=dekaron , dekaron is a grindfest so 2moons is . At lvl 25 i had to kill lvl 35+ mobs to get some descent xp (with an incar mag). So as all grindfest game it'll be soon invaded by bots ....

    What is Dead Front?

Dead Front, the 2nd series of Dekaron action, is a large-scaled battle field fighting to the death. Dead Front is separated into 5 levels restrictions and 4 parties, which mean one party should be formed by 6 players in a group, can simultaneously participate in Dead Front at a designated time, six times a day. In other words, maximum of 24 players (4 parties) on each leveled-map enable to join this battle.

To sign up for Dead Front, each player should reserve 20 event items dropped from monsters and then, exchange them for a fort map at the designated NPCs. The fort map is an essential factor for participants to be enabled to get into a battle field ¡®Chains of Fire.¡¯

After getting into Dead Front, all participantsmust go through the three consecutive playing modes of Dead Front – each party playing mode at the valley, all parties playing mode at the fort zone, andPvP playing mode. The winning party will be immediately transferred to where all the treasures are.

    What is Level Restriction Map?

Dead Front is a fighting field for all Dekaron players from low-leveled one to high-leveledone. So, it consists of 5 different leveled-maps as follows:

    1) Level 21 ~ 45
    2) Level 46 ~ 70
    3) Level 71~ 90
    4) Level 91 ~ 110
    5) Level 111 above.

When can we join Dead Front?

Dead Front¡¯sgate will open at a designated time, six times aday: A designated time for Dead Front Entry is as follows:

    16:00 / 18:00 / 20:00 / 22:00 / 00:00 / 02:00

Thats all the info on deadfront so far =] sounds awesome, should add even more competition imo. Enjoy.

    To the above poster.

At level 25 killing level 35s will take longer than if you where killing level 20s, iv found the best way to level is by killing alot of weaker mobs faster instead of killing 1 tough mob slowly. By the time you have killed the tougher mob and gained 5% you could have killed 10 lower lever monsters worth 1% each.

Actually with an incar mag at lvl 25 i was able to deal 1k+ dmg so killing lvl 35 mobs isn't that hard . (but boring)

Just to explain , i made an incar mag with +2 heal and +3 spr each lvl , iow more than 1.2k HP at lvl 25 and enough mana(if i remember well something like 1k mana)/mag dmg (more than 1k perhaps 1.2 if my mermory is good )... + pure fire skills

so far so good but the lack of customization is somewhat lame.  watching my clones running around is not fun.  for a free game its pretty cool and i hope the summoner is more of a solo class.  animations are pretty cool and the fight sequences make it look pretty seamless and not like im selecting specific attacks one at a time.  all in all not too bad and ill continue at least till i get 2 worlds or tabula rasa (or however its spelled)
