Ok this might sound noobish - but WTF?!

I just cant figure out what this is! Is it a third person shooter? kinda like max payne (love that game, anyway lol) or is it a normal MMORPG with a click to do move thingy based in a sci-fi world?

Err okay still confused, from the look of the vids it looks third person,

so is it a third-person shooter ? or is it actually an FPS like CS and all

As someone already said, a couple minutes looking in other threads or *gasp* the game's website would tell you what you asked.

And no, it's not first-person, it's third person. No, it's not a shooter, it's a MMORPG with guns instead of swords. Yes, it does use shooter-esque movement and cover tactics. Also, yes it does have PvP, but no it's not CheaterStrike or AimBot Tournament that is 100% PvP. It's a PvE game with PvP in the "end game" to control battlefields, etc.

I see. This pretty much sums it up, thanks! BUT nevertheless you have to admit this combat system is very different  and confusing...

k, heres what i've got down so far...lol: 

Third Person Shooter style MMORPG (not a shooter due to sticky targeting, but it is cause you use a gun...you decide)

PvP is consentual between individual players.  For clans there is an option to turn pvp on all the time... This will enable you to attack other clans who have pvp enabled, though it does conflict with the lore...im sure clans would rp intensely to account for so many civil casualties.

 

And through all this it keeps true to MMORPG genre....incredible...  

 

no really, ive been waiting on this game for a damn long time and im going to rationalize every fault it possesses in order to please myself after wasting so much time in anticipation!!!!!!

Just turn off sticky targeting and you got something real close to FPS. But why handicap yourself that way is beyond me :P

OK, sorry for biting your head off there man but I'm getting tired of explaining it, any way, here is a video that mostly shows you and explains to you how the game works and you get to see stuff blow up, kk?

Actually the problem with explaining  TR is that the concepts are new.

The best thing to do is watch the E2 footage and watch the game being played. Now keep in mind that they are showing it in god mode in order to be able to move through the map and show the diffrent areas and example map objectives.

 

The game is unique so trying to compare  it to known games really does not do it justice. It has the potential to set the standard. Another game I am looking forward to is Mass Effect for the xbox 360, read up on it. Both of these games are so diffrent from anything currently out that if they are as good as they look they could create a new class of games.

I was quite dissapointed abou that since all i've heard before i got into beta was that this game was truly unique and the concept was completly diffrent from any other game. Its still the same concepts all over again.

And to the OP, as you must have seen from the various replies this game is in no way an FPS game. Its and MMO Action game if that helps

Yeah.  I agree here with Floy.

I don't know if you have actually played the game.  Or even seen it in the Con's.  But frankly, the only "new and innovative" stuff with this game is its graphics.  *shrugs*

It ain't a bad game.  It is NOT a FPS.  I don't know where that garbage keeps coming from.  Any video shows you exactly what it is.

As far as "setting the standard"?  What standard?  For everygame out there and to come?

From the vids I've seen looks like an over the sholder 3rd person to me.
