2 Moons for its amazing... Jailing System!
So you like PvP huh? 2 Moons is something you feel like doing over the summer at least till a decent game finally comes out? Well I hope you have a large group of people to run around zerging with. Since if you ever die in PvP, I feel sorry for you since you won't see your character for a couple of days! Why? The amazing jailing system of 2 Moons! Heres how it works...
IP Points = You get them for killing other players in PvP / Ganking.
You gain around 30~ points just at level 20 for killing other players.
Kill around 50 players, gain 1500~ IP points.
Cool huh? Well theres no point to getting those points. However, there is a penalty! Oh boy is this the funny part... If you ever die, with a good amount of IP points(200+, so killing like 6 people) you get jailed! Doesn't sound so bad right? Just puts a little downer on ganking people? WRONG!
In jail, you have to stay logged on and on-line until you lose all your IP points. *Best Part* IP points decay at a rate of 3 points per minute! So, killing a single level 20 character at level 20 and then dying ends up you being jailed for 10 minutes! Kill 50 players? You are now jailed for 9 hours. Thats right, 9 hours for about 2 hours of PvP. Going hardcore PvP? Killing higher levels? Killing more people? Well I hope you didn't like that character since you won't be seeing him for a couple of days.
Oh but wait! You can pay bail. So it isn't all bad. Thank god it only costs 10,000 DIL to remove.... 10 IP points. Thats right, 10,000 DIL to remove 3 minutes of waiting. I had 17,000 DIL at level 20. Spent 10k to remove 10 IP points.
What. A. Joke.

Why is this a bad system? This is a good system...so that people don't kill each other. Learn from your mistakes, but if you think killing people and not getting jailed is unrealistic than idk whats up... My point is...it's realistic in the fact that you take awhile to come back, and it's a good system because it helps prevent pvping other players.
Then why do they have PvP in this game at all? Weird. I'd much rather see a bounty hunting system where other players can make money hunting you down for your evil deeds. More kills = more money for the bounty hunter. PLus, if you kill someone from your realm... until your bounty is collected you get attacked by gate gurds, etc. But I haven't played this game so maybe it functions better than I am thinking in game?
I love the jail system. If you are red and die , you go to jjail, it is brilliant. Just don't die .

I dunno, to have your character jailed for the length of time the OP quoted seems a bit extreme?
It needs to be extreme, so that they won't do it. Harsh punishment for a harsh crime...justice.
no point in having pvp.
Then why allow PvP in the game? I'm not trying to be argumentative with this. I've never played this game but I think a post like this, if it is true, would keep me away from the game. Which is weird, because I rarely PvP anyways, LOL.

becausse it is fun, if 2 people are purple you don't go to jail, it is similar to Lineage 2 pvp , but with an added twist that the red players when they die go to jail. I think it is awesome and funny to go to the jail and heckle the inmates
If you don't get it , don't play , no one is forcing you to play a free game . More so it seems you feel forced to try and make something sound so brutally wrong that it is a big o noes a jail system when you kill someone ... The game is free dude, get with it or step off it.

I think it's there to be a little more realistic, so that it is possible to kill others, but not only that....because some people like to pvp. Even if the penalty is high, some will still like to do it.
Why have crafting in games when it's purely optional and you can get better gear from the hardest content?
The reason to have it is so that players have an option. That's all. Don't like it? Don't PvP.
I may be a 'care bear' by PvP without consequences only benefits the minority like you.
This doesn't stop you PvPing, what it does do is make you think whether killing the player who is at 1/2 life fighting a NPC is really worth the cost. Player controlled PvP honor clearly doesn't work, so I'm glad to see that at least one developer has had the courage and foresight to put something like this in game.

wrong this was in UO it didn't work.
when a hardcore ganker pk racked up a huuuuge bounty, he just got one of his friends to kill him and they split the cash.
Wow, I am amazed how many people think that PvPing for 2 hours means I can't play my character for 9 hours due to dying to a 1v6 is fine and a great system. Also there is no ganking in this game with shields, it takes a good amount of time to burn through one against a player your level, they have a ton of time to run or fight back).
Thats just level 20 PvP, imagine being a top PvP'er/PK'er because you enjoy that aspect of games, you kill thousands of people(not sure if IP scales with level since I uninstalled that POS game). They will never get to play their character again unless they buy millions(billions?) upon millions of DIL. I think just for killing 50 lvl 20's it would cost me like 1,500,000 DIL to reduce the sentence to zero. They put PvP in this game for a reason, but they put the jail in there to stop it(severely). Way to contradictory. All they do is Enforce 6v1'ing to get a "L337" PvP score or ganking lowbies all day with little risk. They don't allow even or fighting players higher level then you since you are risking being unable to play that character for DAYS. I don't mind the grind, I can get over some of the other pet peeves I have. But If I have to sit there and kill the same mob for 3 levels and for hours, I better be able to kill some people afterwards. But in this game, it's just always moving onto the next mob, always unless you don't feel like playing the game at all.
Worst. Idea. Ever.
If it was like 10 hours MAX for killing thousands of people, fine. Paying an amount to reduce it to 0 based on your level, fine. But right now its a horribly done system and they shouldn't even allow the option of PK'ing with it in the game.
The problem is...people are most likely always going to pvp, because there is no real consequence to killing others like there is in real life; therefore, they will still do it. Though if you put a harsh enough punishment out there in the game, you will most likely stop the pvping to an decent extend. Personally I think tha they should make it five minutes in jail per person that you kill. I think that would make people a lot less likely to kill, but if you must kill others than it is sparingly.
OP, you don't understand. It seems that they did not make this game a big pvp game, and the pvp system is more realistic than just having pvp as another aspect of the game. PVP in this game is just a realistic option...I don't think they want to make it part of the game...like a fun thing to do.. It is not a bad idea..you just don't understand. You are looking at it as an aspect of the game, such as questing, but it is not like that at all. It is more like a freedom.
I have a question. Are there any rewards for pvp? If the pvp has rewards then this doesn't seem so bad. You may get a reward or you may go to jail. But if it doesn't, well, then that kinda sucks...
THE TOMATO IS NOT A FRUIT, DAMN IT!!!
In l2, flyff... etc...I hate when a bored kid comes and kills me without reason :O I lost xp and time, and perhaps, items.
If people wanna do pvp, perhaps, they must go to arena or another place for it, if you just want to bother others, or be a killer gaining lots of karma (or the points you mean) then, its your fault, next time, find a pvp zone, or if it dont exists, you already know the rules, just, dont bother the others...
That "Bounty Hunting System" is a great idea! Do any games out there have something like that?
Ebon, is was already stated earlier....that system does not work. It was already implemented in UO and did not work at all. Read the post above to find where it says that, and you'll see why it doesn't work.
Aren't there a bunch of sieges and the like in end game(wonder if you gain IP and go to jail for that, lawl)? And it seems like having a whole like 8 page section on PvP and having a whole jail and rating system for it meant it to be in the game. But apparently it's just there if you don't want to play there character for a good couple of days... with your computer running 24/7 with the character sitting in jail hoping you don't get disconnected.
From what I got, PvP is in the game and I thought it was meant to be used. But apparently not.
Well some games try to take more of the freedom but consequence approach. This one seems to be one of those....you have the freedom to kill, but if you do, than you might just get caught and wind up in jail. I like the system...I will most likely not be killing many other players, so I don't really have to worry about it, but if you love pvping, than maybe this game is just not for you.
They just didn't explain, or at least I missed the part where it said "Killing one player will make your character jailed for a good 10 minutes! So if you kill a small amount of people, have fun sitting in jail for the next couple of hours!" . When I heard of the jail system, I didn't think much of it, but once you get in there and you notice you won't get out for 10 hours... hah.
The jailing system in 2 Moons eliminates any kind of fun from world pvp. Id like to have the choice to gank members of an enemy clan without being unable to play my character for several hours. A system where lets say you have a 10% chance to drop one of your items if you pked other people, would work so much better imo. It would also give reason for other people to try to hunt you down. It works just fine in L2.
And what happened to the "No mercy for the weak, no pity for the dieing, no tears for the slain". WIth that type of marketing punchline id expect them to reward me for ganking other people in game...
Hey... um...
You only turn red if the person you are killing does not fight back.
