I have a question to any seasoned beta tester out there. Looking into the challenge website I saw the words "in game gold."

Immortals (subscribers) will have discounted access to FURY Challenge events. Heroes (non-subscribers) can take part by paying an entry fee of in-game gold.

I didn't know there was gold in the game, how do you get it, is it a hidden grind that actually takes its toll on you after a while? Secondly I also saw "solo" competition mentioned. Does this mean 1v1? If so that is pretty awesome and I will be all over this game like a crazy man. Finally what is the format of the clan competition? 4v4, 5v5, 6v6 ect? I don't really understand it because it's not really that specific.

You gain gold after every match, of varying quantities.

Different game types & maps can support different number of players.

Unsure about your other questions, as clan competition is not in the preview beta.

Secondly I also saw "solo" competition mentioned. Does this mean 1v1? No, this does not mean 1v1. This will be a ranking of the individual players based on their performance in group pvp. 
Finally what is the format of the clan competition? 4v4, 5v5, 6v6 ect? I don't really understand it because it's not really that specific. Clan rankings are for elimination(4v4) and vortex, which is capture the flag like (12v12 and 16v16).
