Which company do you trust the most?

This is just an honest question and I want honest answers . There are no wrong answers.

What I want to know is which company through all the mmos you have played. Which company do you find the most trustworthy (for whatever reason)? Please also give your reasons why you chose what you did.

And if it isn't on the list I apologize.. pick other and state the company.

Thanks in advance.

---

I pick square enix because they have never done their customers wrong in my opinion. :)

I chose "Other" because I truly do trust FunCom with Age of Conan. I think they will put out a quality game.

damn man, i cannot choose, i would choose Blizzard, Bioware and Square Enix.

why? because usually they produce polished finished products, albeit in different genres and countries, but quality is a definite trademark of all three those companies.

Surely you have one you value over the other at least? :P One that has NEVER let you down?

Now THIS is a poll I find most interesting! Only wish you would not have taken "others" into it, such things kinda disturb the sample. Anyway, I chose SOE. Yeah, kick me if you must, but hear me out. I was damaged by NGE, lost ALL my professions. But SoE has IMO since then worked as professional as you can expect. Its not that I agree with everything they do, like making the Agency pay for services instead of a monthly fee. But taking my experiences with all the other companies, SoE is relatively reliable.

Blizzard just is mean and arrogant handling their users. NCSoft is ok, but their customer handle is terrible. Mythic, SquareEnix,  Bioware and EA are kinda blank papers to me, though I played many games from Bioware and EA, I cant say about their customer care, so I cant say I trust them. Bioware is a too small niche atm and EA is a giant eating all in its way, most games they make are milking the crowd with minimal effort. And SquareEnix... cant say I trust them. I know them only for the Final Fantasy-formula and havent seen anything other than that, which they too milk over and over again. No, SOE with all its faults is still like the one-eyed is king among the blind. They have a nice diversity of games for different play styles, and despite all faults they may have, I see they are willing to adapt, to change and to learn from faults, instead of inveting only one system and milking it to death. Not everyone may like every SOE game, but I trust in their willingness to learn. which I dont see in any of the other companies.

Just take the games they have, EQ, EQ2, SWG, Planetside, VG, soon Legends of Norrath and the Agency, I see they cover a vast spectrum of games and playstyles, and all of these games constantly adapted over time, much unlike SquareEnix or Blizzard who made one concept and stick to it until its dead, see WOWs new expansion, its just more of the same, when the SWG and EQ2 expansion all had real new aspects and really changed the game. For instance for me bringing SWG into space was a blast! Or the expansions of EQ2, especially the latest. Compared to that I found the expansions of WOW or the low profile NCSoft has on CoH not much effort. Blizzard and NCSoft just took no risks and all let it set in stone until judgement-day, and thats just a wee bit too less experimental and evolving for me. Sure, if you evolve and change, you can make mistakes, but it ALL better than the other companies leaving everything forever the same.

    I dont know ArenaNet.

The only ones I trust, is Cornered Rat Software, the ones behind WW2OL.

Honest hard working gamers, that has portable beds in their offices in case of big patches or emergency.

I wouldn't trust any company run by beancounters... I only trust gamers, and NONE of the above companies are by gamers for gamers. That means, they WILL screw you over at one time, to save a $ or get more $'s from some other more desired customer.

I picked Play NC (I thought it was NCSoft?), they have plenty of well run games out right now and a pretty decent reputation.  I would choose BioWare, but I don't believe they have an MMO out at the moment, but their solo-games are kick ass.

I actually put SoE primarily because I've played their games for a long time now. I have never had a single problem with a SoE game, but I have never played SWG either. I really can't comment on customer service, because I have never had a need for them for these 8 years. What they have done with EQ2 is what really makes me put faith in SoE, because you can see that they truly care about that game, and want it to succeed with all the updates they have given it.

I have played games from every single game company on the poll and many more. The other companies that came close to SoE for me were Mythic, and NC soft. The one's I really don't care about at all would have to be Square Enix and EA. I didn't care for a single final fantasy game after 6, and EA games are usually bland.

I would trust NCsoft. They have good quality games and they are well known for every gamer.

My favourite mmo-s are mostly made by them.

  • VirgoThreeVirgoThree Member UncommonPosts: 1,198

Yeah I do enjoy the NCsoft MMO's, but majority of them are just published by them. Not actually developed. The Lineage series, and Aion are directly developed by NCSoft. Which IMO are excellent games especially Lineage 2, if only they would of sped up the xp/money rates the game would of been one of the best MMO's to date IMO.

I voted Bioware - for two reasons:

    1. Bioware has a next-to-spotless track record, especially when it comes to quality, content and customer support. Case in point is NWN that even 5 years after release still is getting content updates from Bioware free of charge.

    2. Bioware isn´t owned by any of the big, publicly traded publishers. Therefore it doesn´t need to produce quarterly short term profits in order to keep the stock from tanking but instead can focus on long-term success.

By the way, Bioware´s owner structure is very interesting (and surprisingly few gamers know anything about it!). Bioware is an independent studio that together with Pandemic Studios is owned by Elevation Partners (www.elevation.com). I´m not sure whether they own 100% or just have a majority stake. The interesting thing is that Elevation Partners are a private equity firm with some very interesting partners on board. The best known partners are probably Fred Anderson (former Apple CFO) and Bono from U2! Yes, Bono has a stake in Bioware. Somehow I like that combination. :)

I would say NCsoft if it had not been for thir lack of intresst in solving Bot issues. As for now.. CCP maby

I picked "Other," because I don't really trust any of them. Corporations are only as good as their people and their policies, and both of those things are in a constant state of flux. Turbine made my favorite game (AC 1) and supported it tremendously, and they also continued to sell expansion packs for AC 2 after they'd already made the decision to shut the servers down. By a similar token, BioWare has made many great games, but do I like all of them? No. Tastes vary, so even if I do trust a particular company to make a "quality" game, I don't have any amount of faith that whatever game they're making will appeal to me personally. It's all well and good to have more interest in a specific company's products, but I think it's naive to assume that any company, regardless of their name or track record, will always produce products you'll enjoy. Corporations are all about making money, and that means catering to the largest potential consumer base. At some point, we're all going to age out of the target demographic and start telling stories about "the good old days" when such-and-such were making games that did this-and-that.

I chose to go with BioWare, because I looked as it if every one of those companies released an MMO at the same time I would probably buy BioWare's first followed by EAmythic and then blizzard.

If BioWare made an MMO I think it would live up to its previous games. EAmythic is second because I think with the money form EA EAmythic has the chance to pull of a polished product, I would probably trust Mythic the most but because their with EA I see them going for the money and potentially screwing up anything they make. Blizzard falls third because I have liked every blizzard game they made besides WoW, although I was into it at first it got old faster than any game I played, I think it was mainly because it wasn't Daoc and BG killed the little world PvP that was going on.

BioWare is defiantly on top, even games like jade empire where I didn't like the lore and the game play wasn’t really anything new. I still thought it was an awesome game. So if they made an MMO, and I think they are, I would trust it to be one of the best.

I choose other for Funcom... while i'm not that excited about AoC or any mmo's in the works i have more respect for FC as a game developer and company then all the rest on the list.. with the exception of plaync/ncsoft.... plaync/ncsoft is the only other company i have any trust or hope for.

Funcom should have been on this list..

    Processor: Intel Core I5-2320
    Memory: 8GB DDR3 RAM
    HDD: Samsung 830 256gb SSD-SATA3
Graphics Card: AMD Radeon HD 7950 3gb

    Steam:Skuly
    Warframe:Skuly1775

Mythic was formed by EQI players who were fed up and decided to build their own game (DAoC).  They have always had some of the best customer service because of it.

Well I can't fault CRS (Cornered Rat Software) since for the time I played WW2online they did their job with no BS and I got exactly what I paid for. I left due to disliking one feature of the game (travel times) but the game worked well for me and has a great community, but CRS never gave me any crap.

I hope FLS (Flying Lab Studios) is going to be a decent company but we'll have to wait and see, hopefully they can keep the taint of the darkside (SOE) away from them!

    Trust no one!

No really, I'd have to go with SOE. What a great company... heart filled, thoughtful, and just all around lovable people. Great games, you can't go wrong, they can't go wrong! MMOs such as Star Wars Galaxies is a true hit, tons of people playing, a lot of great out of this world content. SOE has a real knack for top quality entertainment! Albeit, the most trusted company in the MMO market to date. Oh, that Smedley, what a character he is.

    Yup.

Blizzard, in my book, is a more trustable company than most. I no longer play WoW, but if they ever release another MMORPG. I wont have a problem trying it out.

I don't think I trust any company, they all have their ups and downs, but I am willing to try any game that looks interesting, regardless of company.

Don't you worry little buddy. You're dealing with a man of honor. However, honor requires a higher percentage of profit
