Hey everyone. I'm thinking of picking up a copy of LotRO so I was wondering if you guys could give me the run down on what the servers are like: the community, the traffic, the kinships and whatnot. Thanks in advance everyone.

I haven't played on enough servers to have an informed opinion. Arkenstone doesn't suck in any way, but I have no idea how it stacks up against other servers. If you head to the official LoTRO site they have a forum for every server. You can get at least some idea of what the communities are like by browsing them.
Maybe someone that has played on so many as two servers can give you more info than me.
I don't want to write this, and you don't want to read it. But now it's too late for both of us.
Thanks, I'll go check out the forums for a couple of the servers and see what they are like.

I can tell you that you can't go wrong with any server. The community on all of them are great. I myself play on elendilmir were i lead a kinship. Also elendilmir is the server that the majority of the closed beta kinships settled at. But the best way to find out about any server is to play on each one of them. If you find yourself on elendilmir say hi sometime.
Agree with all of the above posters. A couple of the servers do get overloaded a little easier than the others (Brandywine and Meneldor) but that is mainly due to the fact that those were the first servers and have had the most folks on them since launch. I play on Gladden and have not had any issues with either the amount of players (there are a ton, but you don't step all over each other) or the maturity (thats what /ignore is for)

Well the few severs I have played on, most of the people were an older crowd , compared to wow to say the least. I'm 26 and most of the people on my friends list are older than me. At lower levels I've noticed a younger crowd, but that might be the free trial program that just came out.
But i've notice most of the L33T's are doing monster play. By l33t's im talking about the guys with ooc names ( Ipwnage, Backstabsu etc.)
and they talk crap to other players and pre'req to join there uber pvp grp.
I for one play on Arkenstone and have since day one, I have always notice that there is always groups forming to do something and everybody helps everbody else in one way or another. I have a lvl 50 gaurdian named AMOUS and am working on alt. So if you want to try it out and need some help just look me up, If i am busy i will send a kin member.
I'll vouch for Elendilmir, too. It's got a decent population without being over loaded. Bree will always be sluggish, but most other areas are pretty smooth.
My kinship is there. We joined the server with a lot of other guilds from closed beta. There are a few guilds that I would recommend avoiding, but there are always going to be some bad apples on any server.
If you are interested in PvP, it isn't the most equally balanced server. As I understand it, the Creeps have the map more often than not. I think some other servers have bigger numbers in the PvP zone on both sides, but there is usually some action to be found.
