Computer Specs & Advice

Okay so i've been out of commission for awhile now because my computer is a piece of junk. I have been looking to build my own custom computer on several websites but not sure how I should put it together, so I am asking for some help. I have $1,500 to spend and I know thats enough to buy a computer that'll run most of the latest games smoothly.  So what i'm asking from any of you that are better at this than me, how should I do this? What kind of processor should I get, recommended amount of harddrive, video card and other important parts, how would you put it together say if you were me and you were only willing to spend 1500, its okay if it goes 100 over. Any help would be appreciated, im thinking either ibuypower.com or from dell, thanks in advance!

i've always built mine myself, but if you're set on a computer from ibuy then this one isn't bad for $1,600 ish

a few notes.. i didn't include a sound card (built in audio) speakers, or a monitor. i added a second hard drive so you could combine the 2 of them into raid 0+1 if you wanted to, i'm not crazy about the heatsink but it's what they had and i opted for xp rather than vista.

ultimately the choice is yours, see where you want to focus and work that area (strong cpu, graphics, or balanced) just leave yourself room to upgrade if you opt to go strong on cpu, but light on gpu or whatever.
