I think the main problem is that there isn't enough variety (sample wise) due to nothing be released out of the beta. And I thought the game would be out (or at least an open beta would of have provided more pictures) by now. But hopefully we'll get some more photos out of that game soon.

AoC females are just - fugly.  Seriously...how can anyone think this looks good?

My god look at her arms...as the poster above said it reminds me of muppet arms.

Now S.U.N., Aion, Lineage 2, and Guild Wars put any and all other MMORPg's to shame.  May not have a lot of customization, but what there is is enough to make most western MMORPG's look dated.   Face it Asians know how to draw the human form in a very sexy manner.   I'm female and I love the way my GW characters look.

    Yep.

Designed for 15 year-old boys who finally discovered that women exist. And doing the same point rating junk to go with it.

This just makes the stereotypes of videogaming so much truer.

OMG lighten up.  Guys will be guys and I for one and very glad they find all forms of the female body beautiful.   Unless you're the biggest prude this side of a celibacy convention for Mennonite women...really, seriously lighten up.   ::shakes her head::

Hard to really disagree. I don't know why some of you posted in here with such negativity knowing exactly what the thread is about. It is like people who never intend to play a game or have interest in it and know little of it, and then bash it just because.

No, you get a clue that women aren't pieces of meat to be rated like some slave trade 200 years ago.

This isn't anything to do with "beauty", it's about guys trying to insert their latest porn fantasy ingame.

No woman could last 10 seconds (let a lone a guy) wearing barely no armor, and running around in painful high heels.

How about this for "fun": you goto a store and buy a skimpy skirt and sports bra, then buy some high heel boots. Put them on and try to do anything with the junk but break your ankle, okay?

The gaming industry will be the last glass ceiling to break, and in the process, many poor guys will suffer -- but has to be done, as women aren't meat tags to masterbate over.

More like slicing it off and serving it like sushi.

The point is, the fantasy is stereotypical and one that gives gaming a v-e-r-y bad image. Why devs now try at least to make women more believeable, than just a new version of T+A. Even Barbie dolls got a make over.

Still have a long way to go in gaming, but hopefully before I'm 60, it's possible that women are armorered correctly, and look like normal women. Not some paint brushed 15 year-old's pin up fantasy girl.

It's crap like this that creates the starving actresses and models. No industry needs to push such crap. Healthy fantasies are fine, but when it sets an unreal ideal, it has no place in society.

Ummm...what do you think this stuff is real?   When was the last time you saw a women dressed in any kind of fantasy armor wearing 4 stilettos?  I am female and I don't think I have ever seen it in RL - ever!  This is all fantasy....you know make believe...where a female wearing a chainmail bikini is the norm!  LOL!  Like I said...you should lighten up.   Guys will be guys and I don't know about you but I prefer them that way.

It's an unhealthy fashion statement, that has hampered women since the days of corsets and before.

Yeah, and women are some of the worst enablers of the abuses women suffer. The reason the ERA never was passed, was because women want it both ways -- wanting to be special and equal, when you can't be special to be equal. Being special gives no rights, either.

You need to understand real life, dear. Promoting unhealthy ideal because you think it's "cute" and "harmless" has brought to society diseases and conditions that didn't exist in quantity even 30 years ago. All right under your nose.

Remember Karen Carpenter? Guess how she died. It wasn't because she was fat, nor that her beautiful voice was off key, nor that her music didn't even sell -- it was because she was judged based on the fad named Twiggy.

Gaming is a fad that promotes the worst in women. From the dress, to the language gamers use to claim victory.

    Get a clue.

Female characters in game wearing sexy armour is not a problem with this world, people killing people in this world is a problem, People starving to death is a problem, Country's at war is a problem not Made up computer generated charcters with sexy armour.

Im sorry, but I think your opinion is flawed...

Male characters are usually muscular and sexy too, why dont you see the same issues in male characters? You do realize that most of the times, the male image in MMORPGs is even more unrealistic than women´s right?

Usually the image concept of a hero will have a body of a athletic person for obvious reasons and the erotized image of heroes is present even in romantism and classicism,  there is nothing to do with a 15 years old fantasy...

Most of women I know that plays MMOs want to have a beautiful image as avatar ( even the ultra sexy-powerful image we see in games like Lineage 2, Guild Wars and Aion ), and in sexualitty sometimes is good to be the object of desire, it dont mind if you are man or woman, sometimes we are the watcher sometimes we are the sexual object ( in a good way )... an atractive sexual image doesnt make you shallow, please, dont belive the social cliche that beauty and freedom of sexuality doesnt come with brains, this cliche is even stronger in our society than "the we all need to be skinny" cliche...

Personally I would love a MMORPG where you can look sexy if you want, but you can also look decadent, where you can look like a Boris Valejo´s artwork, or you can look as a Egon Schiele`s character, and I confess, as William Blake I do belive women should rule this world, but I really think you must try not to judge art ( even the most popular and shallow art ) with your own insecurities...

You said a more beliveable image... well, fantasy games are about fantasy, MMORPGs are about fantasy universes, I really wish dvs start to create more unbelieveable characters... unbelieveable beautiful or unbelieveable decadent and ugly...

One more detail, the game character image follows the hero concept image, to tell the truth there is no game using the ultra skinny model image these days...

You can claim a girl can became anorexic trying to look as a game character, well, a guy can have serious issues with esteroids trying to look as a game character too, but remember they are utopic images, as no one these days will run all day carring a heavy sword and will need to be strong enough to fight against a troll

Padronized midia body image is boring, but people that suffers for it are guilty from their own stupidity

Oh please....its women like you that are turning guys into wimps and women into fat cows.   Let women be women and guys be guys.  You know I stay in great shape...how I eat right and execise....key words here is eat right and exercise.    As for your catwalk statement...huh?   LOL!   Like anyone wears half that crap you see on catwalks in Milan, Paris and New York.   First most of it isn't even comfortable, second it isn't all that pretty, and third 90% of the earths female population is not rich enough to afford it and 4th you'll be hard pressed to find your average woman able to squeeze into a size 0.  That stuff is just as much a fantasy as this stuff.

As for Karen Carpenter...she had an illness that effects guys and girls, alike.   So know you're blaming games for girls ahving eating disorders the way the media likes to say games cause kids to kill other kids.

And we wonder why some people should stay far away from games...far away.  They take it way to seriously and try to make it something it is not and blame it on the worlds woes.   It's a game...and for some it is their hobby or a form of escapism.    You really need to take your old outdated prudish beliefs back to grandma.   Sorry.  Not all of us females think the way some of you do.  Get over it.

No dear, it doesn't work like that. Twiggy was just a celeb in her day, but her appearance has caused an unhealthy body image ideal that has cost plenty a woman's life today.

So, yes, even if it's a game with faddish clothing and unreal proportioned women continue that RL killing legacy, today, as it promotes the same "values" that allow that Twiggy image to survive for 40 years.

Corsets weren't enough to ruin a life of a woman in the 19th century. No they just needed to invent the underwire bra. Worse, breast implants so the underwire can just cut more deeply to pull in that clevage, right?

Fashion can come from anywhere, dear, and when it's PROMOTED as some meat locker ideal, it no longer is "cute" and "harmless" and anything but "a game".

When boys start killing themselves because they can't be Arnold, come back to me about unfairness, okay?

Come back to me when male characters can be stripped of clothing and judged by their penis sizes of their characters (imagine the cottage industry of penile enlargments in games!!).

Come back to me when guys put up "cute" ratings of the beefcake in games (and btw, not be labeled gay in the process for doing so, ruining their main character in the process, because teenage boys just can't go anywhere near it as peers will ridicule them forever).

Come back to me when women are the majority actually playing those characters in games (as most playing any game are guys, who are playing these women characters), and promoting their fantasy pinups.

The "flaw" is the usual double standards.

    You made another mistake

You quoted just one part of my post, this cuted almost all what I ment with my words...

And guess what ... there are A LOT of men with serious issues with anorexia, esteroids, penis size etc etc and etc ... should we blame the tv , movies and games?

Where I live there are a lot of 16 years old kids full of esteroids cuz they just cant be muscular by natural means...

You dont know that, right? Maybe becouse you are looking at all this apearance issue just looking for yourself...

I usually play with my wife and some of our female friends, and I say it again, women that dont have issues with their own apearance dont mind about ultra-sexy characters.

You can see it in another way, somehow games can show a pretty sexy woman can be stronger , wizer and even more heroic than any man with steroids outhere...

Just to be clear, this is not about unfariness, fantasy images doesnt demand you to look this way in real life, I used  art exemple in my first post here and I noticed you really like to use celebrities and media exemples, forget about that, this is an illusion, this way you will be unhappy with your own image, dont think about people that cant be what they really are becouse they are obsessed with someone else image, they are guilty for their own fall...

Well im sorry but if people can not determine the Difference between Fantasy and Reality like i said this is the Problem with that said person that is having this difficulty, these "made up Characters" are a very exaggerated fantasy and made more so to look exotic and cool then they are to promote any kind os self esteem kinda building effect if people choose to take these things seriously then this is a choice that said person has made on there own free will and was not forced in any way to be like this. Like i said before it is a state of someones mental stability which determines if that person is in fact capable of making the right decision for themselves. Every 1 is born with a brain and as they grow they learn to make decisions for them selves wether it be wrong or right is up to them to decide. I feel sorry for the people out there that cant live there life for themselves and choose to follow the paths of others but unfortunately it is a part of humanity to want to succeed and outdo others it is in every one's genes to want something better either it be to better your lifestyle or it be to better the person in front of you in form of competition but ultimately it is up to you to decide how you decide to better yourself and no 1 else.

And when they don't get to the root of the problem, guess how it continues? How do you think these types of threads, and the mindset in gaming with terms like "rapejuice", exist?

They exist because guess who's really missing out of the equation to say, "ah, that doesn't represent women"?

Can't blame Karen Carpenter's death only on some "disease" (totally naive to even approach it like that), nor most models today on psychological issues (yet another subset of sexism, labeling women weaker and psychos), when the disease is societal decay -- stupid women pushing an unreal ideal, to the men who jack off to cardboard pinups as their ideal [then wonder why they're so lonely as no woman is air brushed to remove all the "flaws" TO get it up]).

The point is women aren't meat tags (ever wonder why beauty contests are dying??). They're not graded like beef. They're not T+A, they're not "rapejuice", and they're not whores. That's the point I'm trying to make, because it needs to be said, especially to young 15 year-olds clueless about women -- and I'd hate to see yet another generation of boys locked into a unhealthy mindset that makes them miseable.

If you think women have hangups, you haven't seen anything until you date some 27 year-old who's Neandertal mindset he learned FROM gaming (and worse, has to consult his gaming buds online HOW to date!).

    Sheesh!

How about we stick to the topic and put all this RL BS aside cause 90% of us play games to get away from the RL drama's that are present today so how about because we are on a gaming forum we talk about Games just a thought.

Nope, that doesn't work, because gaming is defining the mores of a generation. Those mores are played out in RL, and in it's most god awful ways.

    And that, is the reality.

Can't have it both ways, Charlizd. When society starts to decay, the efforts to clean it up to prevent civilization itself from devolving, will touch upon gaming, too.

I'm no where near being the PC police, but when I see 15 year-olds constantly bombarded with sexist imagery that they carry out in RL as their mores, it's no longer "just a game" it carrying on a tradition that needs to be broken.
