Well...lol I would like to just say a few sentences regarding PvP/PK...IMHO If by PvP you are really indicating PK which I assume since you played Shadowbane which is nothing BUT pvp/pk since it went downhill.....TO BE A PK'ER AS OPPOSED TO PVP'ER the following criteria is necessary: 1. you must be between the age of 12 and 16 (although there are reports that some people over 16 actually like to PK. 2. You must kill only those that are lower level then you. 3. You must kill using the element of surprise. 4. You cannot kill any player that is your level or higher (see #6 below). 5. Your brain must be enveloped in the sludge of 1000 city sewers. Finally 6. you must be a coward cause only a coward kills unsuspectingly, undercover, in the dark, and only those that are weaker. NO NO I am not meaning this as a flame lol...its in good fun but I do believe that those that like to PK are usually cowards, as stated in the criteria above. It just makes sense. If you PVP..you are usually combating with someone of like level which can be great fun and even though WOW does not have tons of PVP I think I will give it a try anyway lol. Okie I will give no more of my opinions hehe. Have a great day!
I never once pked in shadowbane. Why? i play every game to have fun, and killing lowbies is never a challenge more like a waste of my time. But i admit to having killed people unsuspectingly, undercover and in the dark ( matching my lvl or higher, unless some idiot 20 lvls below me attacks 1st)!!! I have a thing for playing rogues
I m sceptical because they diverted from their original fans and style, and have been paying so much attention to wow that everything else has been postponed or even abandoned. I have been waiting for starcraft 2 for 3 years now since there were rumors that it would get in production right after wow was released
Stability (sure there are issues at times, but far less than with any of the other games I've played)
Population (when I want to run instances I can find a party pretty quick)
Game mechanics (overall, I still prefer the traditional system... not a make-shift FPS hybrid)
Not an overwhelming amount of quests to be burdened with (yes, there are a lot of quests to do, but by way of comparison to some of the other MMO's... WoW doesn't tax you to death with quests)
Available information/resources (the amount of information available for WoW is incredible. Class guides, profession guides, item information, talent builders, quest guides/locations, walkthroughs, etc.,... the game is well documented and that helps a 'newbie' get into the game)
Reasons to dislike WoW:
Population (with 9m people playing, the number of annoying players is bound to be high as well)
-annoying player sub-categories: lazy people who mindlessly spam 'where is....? how do I...?
- PK-campers (every game has them... unfortunately you can't talk to them in this game. A lvl 70 camping players 10-50 levels lower than they are is pretty weak... even for a PVP server.)
- gold spammers
- barren's chat (enough said)
- players who lack any level or understanding of maturity
- know-it-all's (anytime you say anything in general chat to help someone out, these tools speak up to let everyone know they know more than anyone else)
- gear pimps (people who constantly brag about their gear and how it's better than anyone else's... OR people who hang out in highly populated areas and make sure they walk infront of EVERY player who walks into "playercitynamegoeshere" in the typical jump left-right-left-right OMGLOOKATMELOOKATMENOOOOWWW!!!!! fashion)
XP penalty for small groups (if I start the game with my friend and we group at level 1, our xp is penalized. I can get from 1-20 much faster without grouping. I mean, I can buy a standalone game to play offline by myself... but I bought an MMO to play with my friends. And yes, I know 2 players can kill things faster, etc.,.. but still, this should be changed. You should ALWAYS get MORE xp in a group than not)
Some people will list in-game graphics as a negative... and initially, I would've agreed. I still do to some extent. I like eye-candy as much as the next guy. I really wanted Blizzard to fire the Crayola-team they had and get some real artwork going... because I didn't like the bubbly, overstated style that they were using. But Blizzard didn't want to kill their players systems like Vanguard and EQ2 can.
I wish there was really a way to 'customize' your character appearance. I have to say I'm pretty sick of seeing the same basic player models and armor pieces 100 times a day. The only thing unique about my character is the name .. from an apearance standpoint. (i'm not talking about talents/gear stats)

Its fun. I recently returned for the 3rd time to WoW after trying yet another slew of sub par ( for many different reasons ) MMOs.
Its funny, i keep coming back and each time it feels great.
WoW looks great, is super immersive, is FUN, has an incredible hook to it.
