MMO with Asian setting that's NOT a grinder?

Heya,

I'm looking for a MMO with an "Asian" setting, chinese or japanese (Jade Empire is a perfect example though it's singleplayer), but that's NOT a korean grinder? Preferably not so "manga"/"anime" either..

Is there even sucha game? I know all MMOs today come with some form of grind and that's alright of course, I'm just not much for the RF Online type of grind.

If anyone knows a MMO like this then please write it here. ;) Feels like I've been looking for ages.

Good graphics is of course a plus, but the most important thing is the story and setting.

    Haven't played it yet, but i heard Perfect World (look it up in gamelist) seems to be a very nice, quest (5000+)  oriented mmo ... Open Beta should start somewhere this weekend ...

    There arn't many post WoW Asian games. Aion should be the next good one. still in beta....

    Perfect World gave me the impression that it was aiming for a more western MMO style, but I don't know if I'd quite say it's there.  Felt like a hybrid of eastern and western style grinders.  Games like WoW or LOTRO are still deep and complex in comparison. 

    PW does have an impressive amount of slider customization, though.  I almost had more fun with that than the levelling.

    When I want a single-player story, I'll play a single-player game. When I play an MMO, I want a massively multiplayer world.

    I'll check PW out if nothing else - worth a try. ^^ If anyone have any other tips feel free to post. ^^
