LF awesome graphics, NOT A GRINDFEST!!!

I'm looking for an MMORPG with awesome graphics, really cool looking armour and weapons, and good pve. I don't really care whether it is f2p or p2p, as long as it's good. But I DON'T want grind overkill, keep grind to a minimum. I was looking into L2 cos the graphics look awesome, but apparently it's a grindfest.

Any suggestions?

Vanguard is apparently the suckiest thing ever, and I've played EQ2 and I don't like it. Besides, they're both made by Sony, Sony sucks. (and PLEASE, no Sony fanatics arguing that Sony rocks)

VG is not that bad anymore lots of depth and if you have a good comp probly the best graphics. and really there is no mmo w/o a lot of grinding out right now. also sony really only screwed over SWG.

Actually, SOE only made EQ2. VG was made by Sigil, and then taken over by SOE. But yeah, still sucks nonetheless.

And all MMO's are grindfests sorry to say. Some are just masked with quests to make it seem like you're not grinding when you really are.

As of what ive heard/seen...

Perfect World has better graphics then WoW so thats a good thing

So theres your graphics, and gameplay dosent seem to be that big of a grindfest of what ive been told.

one game u can't go wrong with is FURY® its no grind only pvp give it a shot

Perfect World is probably one of the best (if not THE best) choices for F2P games.  The graphics are excellent, and the gameplay is pretty good, keeping the grind less than many other of the Asian imports...

You could also try Guild Wars.  Not much of what I would consider a grind there, and you can ever jump right up to level 20 if you so choose...

As for P2P games, you MAY like the graphics of something like City of Heroes.  There are a lot of nice looking games around, but you'll have to find something that's also fun or in the style you like.  But you'll probably want to keep away from pretty much every Asian release, as they mostly just contain a long and uninteresting grind.

I am just now trying Everquest 2 and hear how it has awesome graphics.  I don't see it all.  I have played GW and LOTRO (very nice) and they have way better graphics!  It's not even close. 

Could this be because I have the trial version of EQ2?  Just wandering because on a previous post on this forum they are rating the graphics and VG was first with Fury and EQ2 being in 2nd.  Then in 3rd, GW, LOTRO, etc....  What is going on?

I'm running on Vista with a Nvidia 8800 card.  So it's pretty good.

Maybe you could try LOTRO. It has spectacular graphics.

Remember, though. Gameplay > Graphics. Vanguard is an excellent example of that.

Games suggested so far:

Vanguard - Supposedly crap and said to be highly instanced, so no.

EQ2 - Played before, didn't like much. Highly instanced. Nice graphics sometimes (nice water effects) but armour looks crap, so no.

WoW - Wouldn't even think about it. I'm totally anti-WoW anyway, and how can you say it has good graphics? No.

PW - Looks good. I went on their website about 2 weeks ago and I couldn't find where you were supposed to download and create an account. I'll try again and see what happens. So maybe.

Fury - Haven't really looked into it much but I don't really like pvp only games. So no.

GW - Played before, got to level 16, got bored. PvE was good at first but got incredibly boring. PvP was fun but not that good till you get to lvl 20. I don't really feel like going back to that. So no. 

CoH - Looked into it but graphics look dated and I don't really like the concept. So no.

LOTRO - No. Just no.

I think I'll try L2 cos the graphics are the best I've seen and I suppose I could live with the grind

EDIT: People say that you rarely see anyone on VG so it's either highly instanced or no-one plays it.

Vanguard has no instancing whatsoever in the game.

Nothing, ever, nowhere is instanced

 

And if you prefer to play a game that looks good but plays like a boring grindfest then you might have to look away from MMOs.

Remember you can get used to how a game looks and not get impressed by its good (or bad) graphics, however the bad gameplay will remain forever...

 

 

Edit: L2 graphics are actually a bit outdated imho. LOTRO has a good graphic feeling but you rejected it.

VG also looks quite good if you got the hardware for it and also EQ2 (considering you're maxing out every single option).

 

But from what I saw you pretty much rejected the top 10 of the MMOs so good luck finding one that looks better than Fury (which is probably the latest and most technologically advanced "MMO" considering it runs on U3 engine?)

"Said to be" highly instanced? who have you been speaking to? Vanguard has zero instances, a completely zone-free world.

You've said no to alot of games, but how many of those have you tried? Some have free trials that you could check out.

There's really not alot of choice left based on your preference of good graphics and limited instancing with no grinding. You've got rid of alot of the main popular MMOs so I really don't know what to suggest.

EVE perhaps? I heard the graphics have been/are going to be updated soon.

My suggestion would be Vanguard. You don't seem to have anything against the game other than that you've heard it's crap. There may still be some buddy keys out there, although the actual game can be bought very cheap so there's not much to lose. The recent game update increased performance and stability quite alot. Actual game play from 1-49 is very nice, yes there is some grind in certain quest lines but they are optional.

Other than EVE and Vanguard, perhaps wait for AoC or WAR next year.

It's pretty good. Read it has literally thousands of quests in it (believable from experience, too), grind kicks in at higher levels, though... But so do a lot of other interesting things... Anyway, you can't quite play it yet. The closed beta ended almost a couple weeks ago and the game has been down since. The official site has yet to confirm the date of the Open Beta launch, but another site rumored it was the 24th. Either way, you'll have to wait a while.. But I think it's worth a try.

Look at post no. 15 and you'll see why I turned GW down. But I agree the graphics are good.
