I haven't played Pirates of the Burning Sea very much, but it has a pretty deep crafting system. Level cap is 50, not sure how long it takes to cap, but they have enough missions to get you there so it cant be very long. maybe 10-20 days. PvP and PvE.

If this has been posted by someone else, forgive my echo.

Please add Wurm online under deep crafting. Also, how about a sandbox category?

Hey i need some help. I like the game runescape but it got really boring is there another game kinda like it out there.  PEACE

  • RhumRhum Member Posts: 1

Hey! well, ive played FFXI for bout 4 years, wut i miss the most bout this game is the comunity spirit in Linkshells (guild) and the way u get into a battle, music changes, zoom in/target lock on...

idk how to explian it, the fight were like a seperate part of the game... Ive tried few more MMOs, but none could get my interest for more than a couple weeks. EQ2, RappleZ, RFO, WoW, LC and few more.

In FFXI character customization / gears sets were nice, its kind of important to me to make my char look different.

I need to find a MMO till SGW release, or till AoC (Ill end up in SGW anyhow) cauz actually im spending time surfing the forums bout SGW and i cant wait for it, but ill have to wait at least 7-8 months, if not over a year :(

Anyway, if im goin for a monthly fee one, ill need a few days trial. Any1 has something to propose? Seems like i cant make a choice out of the list, even tho its a freaking great job.

I have been playing BountyBayOnline. Its a pirate game cloned from a F2P game VoyageCentury. However, the difference ends there. BBO has true tech support, a more "mature" playerbase and no item mall. The gameplay is fun and the current servers are steadily growing in population.

If you want to find out more, check out the forums for it here.

Its monthly sub runs the average $15 US per month and well worth it.

  • cukimungacukimunga Member UncommonPosts: 2,258
I highly doubt someone could Get to lvl 75 and there subjob maxed out in FFXI in 35 days. Now if your talking about 35 days of game play which = 840 hours of play that could be possible, but you would have to almost be in a party non stop getting xp.

There were times in the game where I would wait 2 hours just to get in a party. Then all the traveling it can take along time to get to some places.

    Hi ,

First thank you for this thread , I find it gives a clear vision of current MMOs .

Just wanted to add that I doubt about two facts for FFXI . 35 days to get 75 seems a bit underestimated unless you have a static to pt with from 10 to 75 and you know secret xp camps never overcrowded ^^'

Wanted to say something about solo too . FF will deceive most of people hoping to be able to solo .  I still play it and play solo most of the time , even with good gear and good tactics it s quite difficult to solo . I mean it s quite easy to solo lower lvl mobs ( if not to many : p ) but when it come to solo Tough ( mob with 1 lvl more than you ) or worst , you ll find it s quite challenging ^^ . But in term of xp it s not viable compared to grouping.

hmm, I am definetly going to have to check out Lineage II, apparently it's almost a perfect game for me.

Wurm Online would be in that catigory as well...

  • MaurizioMaurizio Member UncommonPosts: 162

I have a few sections in which i would like you to add Wurm online in.

    #1 Grind

Wurm Online, I guess every game has some type of grind in it, but its hard to say with wurm online as you dont really have the need to like in other games in order to play/succed. Dont get me wrong you want to have high skills becuase making things of low quality compaired to things of High quality have a hugh impact. But over all you can play and be useful as a noob.  Also, there is no set template like in those games where the grind is for leveling. So no grinding for leveling, but just for skills to make high quality items.

    #2 PVP

Im not really sure the faction non faction part, but in Wurm you can kill anyone, although its not good to kill within your kingdom becuase then you lose alignment toward your kingdom, but if you bury the person afterward you gain more points then you lose for killing him  :P So i guess you can put it under both categories.

There is Full looting... Can also be put under open/free world PVP, as you can be attacked anywhere, as long as you are in the Wild server... Home server you cannot though, so i guess you can acutally put it on both categories as well, since you can travel from server to server.

Not sure what open world objective based is.

    #3 PVE

Solo ablility. As you can go out hunting alone if you want too, depending on your skills is if you going to come back alive or not :D   There is no dungen runs or champ spawns so, no real need for grouping, unless you wanna go hunting a few champion trolls and other champs.

    #4 Crafting

Without a doubt needs to be put under Deep Crafting. It has by far the best crafting/terraforming ive seen in a game. ATiTD also good but differnt concept for the rest of the game, I think the crafting in Wurm along with its game play and concept is what makes it worth while, as you have to build your own fortification and defend it with pvp during raids.

Players Literaly are who shape the world of Wurm.

    #5 Performace/Graphics

I will have to say with all settings on high you are looking at a powerful/average comp needed, its mainly a good grapics card and good cpu, Wurm tends to pull some extra CPU usage.

Also, i dont recommend playing on low graphic settings as the game really looks dull if you do. At least a medium to High settings recommended.

    #6 Difficulty

Very Difficult. On wild server, as you have 3 kingdoms at war with eachother, and like any game a bigger village always likes to pick on the smaller ones. Lots of politics goes on if you wanna stay alive. Diplomacy with your fellow kingdom villages, altough you can choose to not like them and attack them, its not advised.

#7 My Recommendation For Those of You Whom May Be Interested In Wurm

If you like the ultimate sandbox freedom, build just about where ever you want. Only restrictions to that is placement of village deeds, you can still build anywhere, but if you plan to place a deed in the long run to get the added benefits like guards to help protect the village, and also a spawn point at your village for whenever you die. You cannot place a deed within i think its 100 tiles from another deed.

If you want to literaly shape the landscape, as you can mine tunnles through mountians, raise and lower the elevation of the land, build land bridges ect...

With crafting items, QL matters so specualization is a good thing, and also the fact that there is not everyone running around with maxed skills makes it even better.

How about raiding your enemie villages and plunder and pilage them? You are free to do so.

Also what seems to be so far a balanced Lore system, there is no magic like fireballs, but with the lore system there is gods, which can be choosen to follow and possibly become a priest, in which priest have blessing powers depending on their skills.

If anyone has any questions feel free to ask, I may have missed a thing or two.

    #8 Payment Plan

With a Wurm account you can play the game for completely Free, with skill caps of max 20 skill all skills. And you can add  premium account time right onto your basic account for 5 euro a month. You can also buy ingame currency if you so wish. As a basic account you can do just about everything, cept for some thigns you need higher then 20 skills for, such as you need 21 str to break down walls, and things. You need 30 masonry skill to build/add onto a stone hosue wall.

I hope that everyone gets to hear about a game that is not very talked about, which many of you also prolly dont even know about. But this game has many many features that lot of people seem to like. So here is the info for all of you.

Greetings! I speak to you today as a man who has played literally every MMO out there, and has the honesty and condensing skills to bring you a MMORPG list with all the basic information you need to know. We all can agree that trying to find even the most basic answers about game's is hard because the companies only include the uberdooper features. I aim to keep the list as unopinionated as possible. I am also only including current MMO states. For example, pre-NGE SWG won't be taken into account for it's current game state.

So, here you have it, The Unofficial "What MMO Should I Play?" Thread! Use this to compare features without digging around.

    Archlord (60 days)

Section 7: My Personal Recommendations _________________________________________________________________
Sometimes the simple facts arn't enough. This last section is a recommendation list based on typical MMO searchers.
"I'm looking for a game with lots of PvE grouping"
There are no MMOs where people always group no matter what. However, there are games where the players tend to group a lot. Below are games where the chat channels almost always have LFG spam.
Recommendation: Everquest 2, World of Warcraft, FFXI

"I'm looking for an MMO without PKs and gankers all the time. PvP annoys me"
Here are my recommendations for an MMO without open PvP, meaning you can walk around safely if you please.
Recommendation: LOTRO, EQ2 (RP/PvE server), FFXI

"I want a game with crafting that matters, not some sidestep in the game that's ignored."

Many people want a game where people actually need crafted goods. Below is my suggestion for games where crafted goods are widely used as much, if not more than looted items.
Recommendation: EQ2, EVE, UO, VG , FFXI

"I'm looking for a PvP-based game with set objectives"
Here's my suggestion for PvPers who dislike world PvP, but like the idea of working on objectives.
    Recommendation: GW, DAoC, WoW, Fury

"I want total PvP freedom where I can attack anyone when I want"
I will also note the looting rules for my suggestion here.
Recommendation: EVE (Full looting), L2 (no looting), Runescape (Full looting)

    "I'm looking for a game that's a total sandbox"
    Recommendation: EVE, UO, SWG

"I want direction in my gaming, I don't want to wonder aimlessly through the world"
Recommendation: EQ1, EQ2, CoH, GW, D&D,  L2, LOTRO, VG, WoW

I hope you found my guide helpful in finding an MMO. Again, this is only the first version, updates will be made regularily.

    Good luck, and happy gaming.

Great post, NetZoko!  Another popular variable for users seeking games is the payment plan.  Thus I'm adding on:

    Section 8: Payment Plan
     _________________________________________________________________
This section deals with the payment options for MMOs.
    Free to Play
    RuneScape, Anarchy Online
    Item Shop/Optional Subscription
    MapleStory, Dungeon Runners
    Monthly Fee
City of Heroes / Villains, Lord of the Rings Online, World of Warcraft, Dark Age of Camelot, Lineage II, EverQuest 2, EverQuest, Final Fantasy XI , Vanguard, Tabula Rasa, EVE Online

    Box/Download/Account Creation Fee

City of Heroes / Villains, World of Warcraft, Lord of the Rings Online, Lineage II, EverQuest 2, EverQuest, Final Fantasy XI , Vanguard, Tabula Rasa

NetZoko, please feel free to update this section :)

Hi, First off this is a great list, excellent work please keep it up, but I think your missing a small section, somewhere between sec(1) and sec(7) which could help a number of us and that is a section on Detailing which games are point and click and which ones are twitch combat(wasd) based.

    Hope this helps.

Great list, it's enough to clean a big portion of the LFG forum

PS: I should have read that list (i am trying EQ2 thanks to this list)

Recommendation:  I want to be free from PvP, PK and gankers.

You only recommend 3 games which force you to raid.  Prolly should adds CoX in the lot, if only to offers a game which doesn't force you in raiding.  I don't want to be trap in hell...sure here you go to the Abyss...bump, that is not nice. :P  Many new titles will fit there.

CoX has 2 raid encounters (Hamidon & Warship), I wouldn't add it in the raiding section at all, but 2 exist.  There is also 1 FFA PvP zone (no looting).  3 faction PvP zones...and the remaining are PvE zones.

Good list! But you left out Anarchy Online from many sections.

Section 2 PvP - Faction PvP

Anarchy Online do have faction PvP. Omni-Tek vs Neutral vs Clan

Section 2 PvP - Arena / Instance based PvP

After the launch of Lost Eden expansion, it comes with Battlestation that is open to all F2P / P2P players. Its an Arena based PvP.

Section 4 Crafting - Has crafting

Anarchy Online have crafting through Trader / Fixer / Engineer profession to some extend.

Section 8 - Payment Plan - Monthly fees and box/download/activation fees

You should be specific on what is F2P in Anarchy Online and with ANY expansion upgrade will lead you to an activation fees + monthly fees.

All canceled. Waiting on Warhammer Online : Age of Reckoning.

60 days to reach the Max Level in Maplestory? I lol'd so hard!

60 days will get you to level 45, 50 at the most.

    The level cap is 200.

Yesterday the first person reached that cap. He grinds 14 hours a day (With double exp) and the game has been out for 3 years. Do the math.

Runescape isn't listed under crafting... and nearly the entire game is crafting, well most of the skills anyway.

Ultima Online isn't listed on the price/payment plan, which i kinda want to know as i'm considering playing it.

Otherwise excellent list , though it has put the foot down on me not buying everquest 2. (can't remember the reason )
