Looking for a World PVP game...

Fury and GW just arent true MMO's.

 

Right now im playing Vanguard on the FFA server.  Which is cool cause it still has MMO elements (PVE, Leveling etc..) but still has the open world pvp.

 

Is there anything else like that out there?   What are some decent PvP games? Even games with good FFA Servers???

I am also looking for a PvP game like this. I dont know what is going on with MMORPG publishers but it seems that the hording of digital junk is what MMORPG is all about now. I want a game with something worth fighting for like Shadowbanes City Sieging. I want random PvP gank squads rolling the country side and taking all my gold so I am forced to stop killing my millioneth lizardman and going after those fuckers and killing them. All MMORPGs are hoarders of items or gold. Any ideas? lol

Just left Sartok myself.

I've gone back to EVE , and basically hanging out to get into AOC or WAR beta. Apart from that, there's not too many good world PVP games out there anymore - unless your willing to go back to good old AC1 Darktide.

I think you need PVP PVE together  and also grind level up system.

Yes i also think GW sometimes is not like a RPG. More like  a fighting game.

Recently there is a oriental style game on OB:http://12-sky.aeriagames.com

This one is developed by korean. In my experience, korean game always has a good lvl up system. for this they also said that there is a massive PVP system.

im currently in 12 Sky beta test and personaly i quit after 32 lvl of grinding ............. that prolly the worst mmo ive seen ever.... grinding from 1 to 145 1 quest every 2 lvl and pvp SIGH you die your out for one hour until portal open up again...

 

for the mmorpg thing best bet well that my opinion go back to previous game like EQ Daoc or wow... I went back to Daoc while waiting for War or Pirate of the burning sea.

 

Daoc still has a good PvP system and not bad lvling.

Age of Conan will be adding FFA Servers so rejoice and try to help the devs anyway you can. I've been registered there at AoC forums for almost goin on 2 yrs now.

very slim pickings out there. most game devs simply dont understand a lot of us get bored in PVE fast without the constant threat of other players roaming bouts. guess most new ones dont offer it cause they know they gonna be 95% instanced anyway

 

heard hellgate might add something but I think it will be minor features to lure in subscriptions

 

{edit} dont be so quick to giveup on Fury btw. I personally enjoy the freedom to optimize my character for PVP that the game gives.

I hope that every game will have PVP in all areas except for cities/towns. You can actually do something about the guy running around trying to steal your kills or the noob insulting you in PVP games. World PVP also helps to prevent people from botting hours at a time because you can just kill a bot on sight. Anyways, Archlord has world PVP allowed in all areas except towns and all players level 15 or higher. You could be level 50 and kill a level 15 if you wish to do so.

Theres not much choice if you want a game with world pvp or any good pvp for that matter, theres either EvE although it looks anything but good or well thats it.

Best bet is to wait until these new mmos coming out they are all mostly focusing on pvp or a bit of everything, not like theres much choice for those looking for pvp or games with good world pvp.

when darkfall comesout it will be full pvp pve and everything else alot of people think it will never come out but it will most likly in 2008 letts see when beta starts XD hlooking to be this year since they did find hosting XD

That game is zoned to hell : I was hopign to sail right into a harbour but instead you load in and out like EQ2 lol..... gay....

No, it doesn't have FFA PvP. it works with dynamic PvP zones. Up to 12 ports can be turned into PvP zones by players (by creating so called 'Unrest Points') which can cover around 40% of the map. When you engage in PvP in one of these dynamic zones, it zones you into a PvP instance. Maximum is 24x24 (or 25x25?) people in these zones. You can have an infinite number of these battles going on in each dynamically created unrest zone.

So no, it's not FFA PvP. The only FFA PvP games I know are also horrible grindfests, which are infested with bots.

World of Warcraft. has world PvP, if you pick a PvP realm, of which there are an incredible amount.

I had many great impromptu battles as I made my way through Azeroth.   There are no objectives to speak of (until you reach Outland  - hellfire), you just kill each other for the sake of it.  I enjoyed beating people higher level than me, getting revenge on players who ganked me, and just being silly.  It can be a lot of fun, not to everyone's tastes though.

I fully expect a lot of "ROFL WOW!? HAHAHA!1!  U NOOB! PLAY A REAL GAME!!!1" comments and the like.  I'm just going to ignore those, so there.

I agree, the best pvp comes from a grinding game. I think the following points lead me to my best pvp experiences.

* open pvp (not race related or whatever)

*grinding for lvl's (this leads to perfect opportunities to PK ppl)

*farming for equipment (no boss drops or other bs)

*minimal % chance of that rare drop you want like 0.02% (so not everybody can have the same equip)

*sieges or territorial wars

*guild wars (like being in war btween your guild and another)

*chance to drop on death/pk

*Criminal system, PK'ers turn red (I'll never forget the UO days of blues and reds. Everybody would spam or pm you saying "RED AT GY" or some mining area or something. Also in L2 this was fun.

So what games have these features? Asian grinders. It's also what makes asian grinders true mmorpg's to me, things like WoW and GW and other games can be fun to me but never last because it's not intense, also you don't work hard for your char.

And btw I will be playing Perfect World. It has nearly all these features and also instanced dungeons with bosses dropping the good stuff. (I'd rather have the L2 drop system but nothing's perfect )

Hehehe I think there are plenty of us Maggotscream. But we don't hang out much on sites like mmorpg.com I think. Because here all you can do is argue about personal preferences, which makes no sense.

Ya the only way to get World PvP was by playing Lineage 2 and having to grind a bit. But now that I am a decent level, I do not regret it because the PvP is simply amazing.

Hey, Joe! I have a couple of suggestions.

As others have mentioned, Lineage II has worldwide PVP.  You can kill anyone anywhere except in town.  If you're killing in sieges, clan wars, designated PVP areas, or defending yourself against an attacker you'll have no consequences.  Kill random people and there are some consequences, but easily mitigated.  Learn more about L2 PVP here.

If you're into sci-fi, EVE Online is another good option.  Systems (zones, sort of) can fall under one of three catagories: hi-sec (high security), lo-sec (low security), or no-sec (you're on your own).  No-sec is where most of the PvP happens; lo-sec you can attack others but be wary of CONCORD (NPC police) near gates, and hi-sec...well, you better be able to kill faster than CONCORD can reach you.

There are, of course, plenty of other PVP games out there.  WoW was mentioned as a great realm vs. realm game; DAoC is older, but also has RvR action.

I'm sick of zones too. EQ2 let me down with that. Lineage2 was actually great! Aside the fact of botters.

I also H-A-T-E  instances. WoW is out and so is a couple others. Instances are weak. What's the point of being an MMORPG when you just instance all the time.

Eh, EVE's "zones" are more like different solar systems in the universe.  No loading screen, just throws you from one gate to another   It's not half as bad as EQ/EQII.

After trying basically every game out and reading a million reviews. Vanguard is the best world PvP game out at this time. To bad its buggy and laggy. I will be killing on there hoping its bugs are fixed and waiting for Warhammer and AoC
