Don't waste your time on this game...
Why? well read on...
Im a beta tester of many many games, and sometimes i return to a game to see progress, like most of you do i bet.
The last time i visited this game was 5 years ago according to my old account i still had.
It, unfortunately, seems that the persons in charge have changed somewhat, but not in a positive way.
While i was corresponding on the forum with other users about my inability to enter the game world after having finished the tutorial, the whole thread got moved and deleted by a power-hungry moderator.
If it were the case i would have violated any rule i would have not have any objections to that fact, but it was a completely clean and helpful conversation among players...
After posting about this moderators actions, the mod in question started spreading lies, which i replied to with evidence he could not bypass.
His answer to that was by calling me an idiot and locking the thread and soon after deleting that thread also.
If you wonder if i aver made it into the game world: no because i could not be helped anymore...
If you feel such an environment with staff like that is "normal" and you feel ok with it then by all means go try it.
If not, then your choice will be easy:
Don't waste your time on this game...
There are plenty of other games, that might also be buggy and needing testing, but at least have an healthy forum environment for communication.
I bet if you search their forum for my nick you will not found many if any post at all that are left due to this mod...
Im sure i will be flamed in someway for posting this from their side, but that will only be proof of what im talking about.
Use your own brains and intellect to see the truth...
If you still doubt then go and read their forum and/or post self there...
Needless to say: i have removed the game from my system.
Well thats all for now, 3M

I am sorry you had a negative experience on our forums. However, as you can imagine trying to be a moderator can be a difficult job sometimes. No matter what you do people are going to have issues no matter what goes on.
We've tried to interact with the fans as best we can and sometimes it works out and sometimes it doesn't. We can only do so much and it's up to the community to try to work together. Some people hate our forums ( sometimes for opposite reasons which doesn't make sense ) and some people love them. We are on IRC most of the day and always available to talk to.
End the end I would hope you would judge the game ( good or bad ) on the game itself and not by an incident on the forums.
As I posted in the other thread, this is extremely common for the ps forums and has been for years. Remove your current mods and start fresh. This will remove the I am so uber power attitude from your current moderators. They obviously haven't been doing their job correctly and this isn't a new complaint. Its just something you as an owner have never taken care of.
The problem has been around a lot longer than Neko.
Editing this post so new readers don't have to go all the way to the end.
Something curious occurred to me just now.
It just seems strange to me that some people are saying not to play a completely free game made by Devs who are not gaining a single cent from it because they are arrogant (in their opinion).
Yet I am assuming they likely have or had an account they are paying money for on games like WoW, where the Devs don't give a damn about players, and just want the monthly subscription. Or so I have read on other forums.
"Hey! Free food buffet!"
"Bah... don't go there. Even if they have good food, the cook is arrogant."
"Do you have to talk to the cook to eat there?"
"Um... no... but it is a principal thing."
"So... you won't take advantage of the cook who is using his free time to cook food for folks... for free."
"Like I said, it is a principal thing."
"But I have seen you eat at McBlings. They have terrible service, it is always crowded, and they never give you quite what you want."
"Ya, but I am -paying- for that."
"Er... point taken." *walks away*
End edit.
Trimoon, are you Drakon on the PS forum, by any chance?
I am not making any accusations, but I do not like folks posting in another forum under a different nick with horror stories about how bad they were treated. I am sorry, but that comes too close to "Believe what I say. I can offer no proof or they will come to get me. If you do not believe me, you are one of them, or not a smart person."
I am sure there is more to the story than your victimized post here tells.
As far as I can tell, most Tutorial problem threads have been locked, as there is now a complete walk-through posted in the guides section. There are still a few threads open in the 'Ingame Bugs' for those who are having a problem with the final step of the tutorial.
I assume you have read some of the other problem threads, and as such, would know that if you are stuck at the end of the tut, you can request GM aid in an ingame petition.
As I have seen, no thread gets locked or deleted or post removed for the reason of padding a Mod's ego, as you seem to think is happening. If you made a thread questioning a Mod's actions, then yes, it would have been deleted. It is the forum policy to take care of these things in private through PMs or emails. The same goes for problems with other players.
As for your 'reason' not to play the game, it is a rather thin argument. It would be similar to saying never go to a country because their lifeguards suck, in your opinion.
~Under the moon on PS forum, by the way. Suffice to say that in all the posts I have seen here, only the defenders of PS have used the same nicks (or similar, in my case) on both forums, and have not tried to hide their identity. There is little doubt in my mind that some of the posters here are known trolls on the PS forum.
maveric007...
"Ya, I'm not sure whats up with that. These forums get visited on occasion by a mod that axes everything."
Those are your words about the mmorgp.com forum. You can not say the same thing in good faith about the PS forum.
I changed my mind. PlaneShift is not worth the time.
Excuse me, but I'm using an alternate nick because I wish to protect myself from harassment. Also, I fail to see how anyone can take your post as anything other than an accusation.
I don't think you'll deny that the posts you and a few other "defenders" have made have been aggressive. Even insulting at times. Can you then blame people if they don't use their usual nicks?
I've seen exactly this happen on more than one occassion. It's usually because a mod or dev or GM got caught up in an argument with one of the more naughty posters - and the fight made the mod or dev or GM look bad. I can't say I blame them. If I could protect myself from embarrassment by deleting posts when I find myself on the losing side of an argument, I'd be tempted. I mean, just look at what Talad did on this forum. ; )
pstruth, your statement does not make sense to me. You ask people to believe what you say, yet offer no proof that you are even a member of the PS forums at all. You can look up my history on the PS forums. You can look up Tuxide's. You can look up many of the others who have posted here, and you will see exactly where they are coming from, and what conversations they have been in.
Every time I see one of you post, all I see is [citation needed], to rob from Wiki for a moment.
Does a thread get locked because someone starts to pointlessly argue with a mod or Dev? Yes, on occasion. But it is not this rampant plague you are painting it as. It is not because of a power trip. It is because folks just get sick of the bickering. Have a look around this forum and you will see the same things happening with deleted posts and locked threads.
The posts have been agressive on both sides. What do you expect? "Don't waste your time", "Further criticisms of the Planeshift staff", and the famed (and completely misleading) "The real history..." thread. Just what do you expect?
All of those threads are aimed at hurting the people who work hard on the game, and those who like to play it. All of them started by people wearing masks, and claiming that is because they fear being harrassed. Is the PS staff -that- powerful? Or is the fans that are so terrifying? Have we a secret mafia at our back? Give me a break.
If you want an accusation, I will give you one. From what I have read, every single thread started to attack PS in this forum has had misleading and twisted info, outdated data, opinions stated as 'fact', or outright lies stated as 'proof'. You are guilty of using your opinion as solid proof on more than one occassion. Trimoon says not to look at trees because the sky is blue, and I greatly question his innocence in the matter. 3hundred is guilty of blatent twisting of facts and using outdated info to mislead people.
Simply put, all three of you have been dishonest in trying to convince others of your points, starting with the hidden identities. No, I can not blame you for hiding. Folks might be able to trace who you were in the other forum, and judge the slant you put on things from that, rather than just the persona you put on here.
Putting on a mask to argue a point is just something I would never do. Start with honesty, and that is one less leg your opponent has to kick out from under you. Continue with honesty, and note what is your opinion with integrity, and you have no shame, win or lose.
Sorry mods if this is considered off topic, but it is something that had to be said.
I changed my mind. PlaneShift is not worth the time.
Not true, the GM team has been ousted before and made anew, and I remember it.
Not true, the GM team has been ousted before and made anew, and I remember it.
I'm not sure if they were ousted, but I do know that faces are always coming and going and the GMs of today are not the GMs of yesterday. I think I agree with Tuxide that it's not a useful suggestion.
My opinions prove nothing except that they are my opinions. For the record, I've been honest to the best of my abilities - but you will believe what you will. Some things are just a matter of record though. You said that the mods, devs, and GMs don't delete posts to save face. But Talad has done plenty of that in this very forum. I can't go to the Planeshift forums and link to posts that no longer exist, but people can make judgements based on what's infront of them.
Some of the time it's about power trips.
A person can do one of two things. They can pick a side, even though they don't have all the information. Or they can start asking questions. Questions like "Why is this happening?" "Why do people feel so victimized?" "Why is there such a lack of trust?" "Why do people seem desperate to be heard?"
I was not saying that was a bad suggestion; on this I am quite neutral. The entire GM team has been ousted once or twice by Talad; although I don't remember exactly why, I believe it was mainly a settings thing. There used to be a time when GM and Dev accounts were always visible and could even lead their own guilds (using higher privileged accounts), but those days have long been over.
@UtMoon:
Not everyone bends the truth...
No im not that person you think i am on the PS forum...
One would have expected something better as an acusation like that,
This nick is my (TM) and im not afraid to stand in the spotlight when it comes to my opinions.
Worst that can happen is that my account gets banned from the PS forum...wow big deal?
Instead of searching for spots to bash someone who tries to tell something, why not consume the info?
I know the truth hurts sometimes, but in those cases its better to stay silent instead of searching for attack opportunities.
Well thats all for now, 3M
pstruth, if you stated right out that it was your opinion, then I would have had no problem with it. But you gave your opinion as if it was fact, stating flat out in a "This is the way it is." way.
And once again you are twisting my words (seems to be your halmark). "padding ego" does not mean "saving face". In fact, if you look closely, they are four completely different words with two unique meanings. If you wish to repeat what I wrote, then at least use the same words. I am very familiar with the method of using similar meaning words to evoke a different mood or tone in text. Do not think I will not notice or call you on them.
As for Talad deleting his posts, I think you missed the main meaning. "You are not worth talking to." And in the case of some of those folks, I completely agree.
"Some of the time it's about power trips."
Once again, you are stating your opinion as fact. Unless you are a level 57 empathic mind reader, I suggest you refrain from telling us what is in other people's heads. Now, the proper way of stating that would have been:
"In my honest opinion, I believe that some of the time it's about power trips."
The first will end up in a "yes they are-no there're not" childish arguement. Now, who can argue with the second one? About all they could do is attack you personally, which would lend credibility to your side.
For your last point, personaly, I have looked into the matter a great deal more than I have time for. I took what vague information was given in the first post, and did some searching. I gave the likely reasons why the original thread was moved and locked. I even found out what the likely problem was with the Tut in the fist place, and what the solution could have been. I am assuming the following thread Trimoon posted to the Mod was not all that kind in wording. Well mannered complaints do not end with the poster being called an "idiot", and the thread being deleted, as far as I have seen. That puts Trimoon in question as well as the Mod. Further, his claim that every one of his posts was deleted out of malus from a Mod also raises questions in my mind.
On further study, the blame might not be on the Mod at all, but on a fellow player who deleted all of his posts from 40 or more threads (as was stated). This is why I asked Trimoon if he was Drakon, who was the person who deleted all of his threads. The Mod had to go through and clean up all the deleted posts and the ones that responded to it, as is forum policy. The proof is in the forum right now.
Now, to turn your 'point' about asking 'Why...?' back on you. How much digging did -you- do, pstruth? Or did you just take one look at this thread and toss your hands in the air with a cry of "Oh look! Another PS victim!" Did it even cross your mind that it might not be the complete truth, or that there was more to the story? If not, then the old saying comes to mind. The blind leading the blind.
Trimoon: Sorry for the assumption, but it was a question geared towards getting to the heart of the matter, not an accusation, as I stated. The statement about your reason why not to play the game stands, though. Telling people not to play a game because you had a bad time on the forum is not a good arguement. Perhaps it would have come off better if you just told people to avoid the forums.
I am questioning my sanity in advising you folks on how to debate and make your points better.
I changed my mind. PlaneShift is not worth the time.
Fair enough. My posts should then read "This is my opinion of how things are". Of course, one could argue that such a disclaimer is redundant when you're sharing experiences and impressions.
I don't see the difference.
And there's certainly no "padding of the ego" in that! ; )
I haven't posted in support or opposition to the Original Poster,so this is another non sequitur.
If it's any consolation, your posts don't come across as advice-giving. But I think you realize that.
I played planeshift a while ago, didn't exacly like (for no reason actually ). But I never had any problems with the moderators or GM's in any way. Au Contraire, the GM's and moderators are some of the best i've seen so far. It's obvious that they don't do it for the money, which is a good thing.
And there's something weird about your post... You keep calling the moderator as 'the mod' or 'the mod in question' if you expect them to do something about power-hungry moderators, and you don't tell them who did it, how are they supposed to help you?
edit: Just noticed that you did mention his name later on. Carry on with your fun little conversation.
You know it, the best way to realize your dreams is waking up and start moving, never lose hope and always keep up.
Yeah planeshift is kind of notorious for their staff. ---- Kinda appropriate don't you think lol.
Excuse me, but I'm using an alternate nick because I wish to protect myself from harassment. Also, I fail to see how anyone can take your post as anything other than an accusation.

Not using your normal nick? Then you're a coward, at least have the guts to post under your flag...
I just downloaded the game this morning..... so have no frame of reference....
But forums are run by the people who pay for them. As such, those folks are free to run them any way they want....with no regards to the users desires. We have a choice....visit the forums, or don't...but bitching about them is pointless, and taking the complaints to another forum is more pointless.
In general, people who get moderated deserved it.... and even if they didn't...till they start paying the bills, they've got no right to complain....
except complaining about things is some folks hobby it seems.
Who the hell are you, and why should I care?
Congrats! You are a victim of Trollstar!
I find that to be a false statement, taking complaints to forums where you can actually talk about the good and bad of a game and not have it removed is a good idea. I would say its no worse then you coming on here saying other people are wrong for posting.
But if you belabor the point, strike up a crusade against the moderators or the games developers, or post anonymously because you 'fear' retribution. That's pointless effort IMO.
What the heck, a forum like this one is great because anyone can post what they want (more or less) w/o reprisal, which is why I'm glad I found it.
Who the hell are you, and why should I care?
Congrats! You are a victim of Trollstar!
You suspect wrong. Most anything even a little negative about the game is taken down from planeshift forums. (or this has been the case over the past few years)
Not true. Hell, even your own thread is still on the PlaneShift forums.
As far as I can tell, ther have only been one or two people on the forums who have really caused problems over the past two or three years, and I'm talking people who have a post count in the few thousands. If you hate the game and you've made over five thousand posts on the official board, then hmm...Shal we say, that's quite obsessive and you should probably find a better hobby.
The person who owns the forum has the ability to do what they wish, but they will also suffer the consequences of their actions. You should behave according to your goals.
It's not easy to talk about the bad points of the game without getting flamed by the mods, and such threads typically get deleted or locked pretty quickly anyway.
I don't think there's any crusade against the game's developers. It's just that a lot of people are very concerned with the community being hurt, and a lot of people feel they've been treated unfairly.
LOL, well said, but I think most of the complaints people have made have been focussed on moderation, Game Masters, and such.
Complaint Department Forum. It has been around a while now. Most threads don't get locked, and those that do, do so for a good reason.
If there is a complaint about a GM, Dev, mod, or other PLAYERS, there is a specific way to address those, which is not in the open public. That is in the forum rules. If you break the rules and don't follow instructions on how to report complaints about someone, then that is your fault. Sort of like setting your house on fire trying to deep-fry a turkey indoors.
As I have seen, the only people who get into fights with mods, devs, or GMs are the ones who are looking to start something.
I changed my mind. PlaneShift is not worth the time.
A lot of people who don't fight with the ______s still have complaints about the _______s (fill in the blanks for GMs, mods, whatever).
A lot of people who don't fight with the 1______s still have complaints about the 2_______s, in 3_______.
1: Fill in the blank with GMs, mods, Devs, other players, whatever.
2: Fill in the blank with GMs, Mods, Devs, other players, features, whatever.
3: Any game name here.
I don't see your point. Planeshift is far from unique in this aspect. Try again.
I changed my mind. PlaneShift is not worth the time.
Try again? You just said I was right.
