I've crashed 3 times. Had video corruption once.

login,  get newbie quest, run outside and I picked up a weapon just laying on the ground. I tried to equip it and all of a sudden I have the entire alphabet and special characters displayed over my game. I was able to remove this by hitting escape? But still the graphics flash and are color washed out. Reboot and its fine.

Then random crash to desktop later.

Then less than an hour later I crash to desktop as I try to talk to a npc. This time I get a bug submission form. But when I submit I get tons of  text in weird format/error messages. I can only assume it was trying to display the errors in another language, Korean?

Character animation is jerky, I press the move forward button and randomly my character takes 1 step forward and then turns around. Even with all graphic options on high character animation sucks. FPS are good, except for the random stutter (wich is server lag as far as I can tell) often its just a pause, but rubber banding is common.

quests: dialogue runs together, often makes no sense. Sometimes you complete quests by just clicking on them. I was told to go talk to a guard. I found no guard. So I came back and poof the quest was complete. I never sw any npc. I had 2 quests to kill the same mob, got credit for one quest. But I could not get credit for the 2nd quest until I turned in the first one to the npc, then went and killed more to turn into another npc. Controls are not intuitive at all. Overall game graphics are only so so. Nothing special here.

sound: so far I like the background music, hopefully it varies somewhat but its pretty nice so far

combat: too low to tell, but I find it annoying loot randomly disappears off the ground, you cannot loot while fighting, and you sometimes warp while fighting (facing one way, then poof you are moved around to the other side. Auto combat still is still on and you still fight, but its annoying still.

So this game has been out  a year now? And its buggier than most later stage beta's. I find it hard to believe people pay money for this.

Well i don't know what client you downloaded but if it wasn't the english one that's why you're crashing all the time, i first played with the german one and i keept crashing then i downloaded the english client and it worked fine.

Anyway, it's strange but there are some diffrences between the german and english version, in the german one you can't see half of the weapons, armors and your potion reuse time is alot longer than in the english version, wrong npc names/places given from the quests, etc etc

Lvling takes way too long, quests are boring ( go there, kill that, go back, done), some classes are weaker than others ( ...Knight ), killing someone in PVP takes years ( potion spam festival), and as Pipwicky already mentioned your loot disappears while fighting...

    Archlord sucks.

After 7-9 day of playing, I have not had any crashes or bug/bug reports pop up.

Overall, it sounds to me like your graphics card and the game are not getting along or maybe you have low RAM.

You complete some quests as you get them immediately  very simply because you already have done what you needed to do.  Is that difficult to understand?  Also you may think you are killing the same mob when in fact you are killing something else, or should be killing something else (IE Green Cubes, Blue Cubes, Hard Cubes...all are cubes, but different level, etc.)  Don't know what you are expecting after two hours quest wise, of course they are going to be newbish and easy.

Anyways, this game is #2 or 3 on my play list and I don't feel a major need to defens it as I am so new and getting used to it myself.  However, posts like yours tend to attract the "real intelligent" crowd who post only things like. "Ok thanks, now I won't play." (like we all cared to know in the first place).  Hopefully most people take the approach of trying something out for themselves and don't rely on reading one post to make their decision.

Good luck either working out the bugs or uninstalling.

Well I downloaded the  english client I thought...was from gamers hell. I mean, the controls are in english....How else could I tell which client I have?

I got a quest to kill giant bats in old land, but I really had to kill cave bats at old <something else>.  Game was horribly laggy this morning, rubber banding all over.

I have been playing hellgate: london, crysis, bioshock, tabula rasa all  here over the past few weeks. Only bioshock doesn't like my pc. Others are fine.  I don't know why the game keeps crashing for archlord.

The quest I referred to earlier told me to talk to a guard, I had never spoken to a guard. I just left town and searched, but no guard.

You really need to post your sys specs, it would help us to help you better. Might be an os problem, I assume you're running vista? Are you running it in win xp sp2 compatability? If so change it back to normal, if not turn it on. Tell me if that fixes the problem. Vista is still hella laggy and compatability for games released pre-vista is iffy right now. You're running all those new games fine cause they are post-vista titles, made to work with vista and DirectX 10. Have you tried running it as administrator? Also check your firewall settings and make sure archlord is listed as an exception with the box checked, if not add the .exe to the exception list. Hope you solve this problem, as this is a good game, not to mention free.

wow..really did reply to this earlier but post never showed up looks like

    athalon 64 4000

2gb ram (ram  is clean, memory testing shows no errors)

xp sp2, no windows firewall (game corrupts/crashes, really not a firewall issue)

8800 gts 320 latest drivers, not the beta ones for crysis

    mobo asrock 939 dual sata

I guess I'll try playing with the settings. Everything at max plays fine fps wise, but might be causing a problem.

I've been playing a couple days too and the only time I CTD is when I talk to a merchant and click the Buy/Sell button. Doesn't do it every time, but often enough. Sometimes it just makes really loud garbled sounds.

The problem is on your end. I have none of the problems you mentioned and I don't know anyone who has those problems. I suggest you get your computer fixed.

Archlord is a pretty broken game , for the random crash to desktops to go away, disable all music ingame, if it doesnt work, disable all sound ingame, its when you talk to a npc who also has some sort of sound added to it , thats when it fails on you.

But yes all in all archlord is a grind game like lineage 2.

One of those rare moments when I agree with Gameloading.... I installed Archlord on my 3 year old Dell XPS lap top (2GB Ram, Radeon 9800 Mobility AGP  video) and the game ran fine for me...no problems.....
