Hey everyone. For all of you guys thta got guitar hero 3, post whta you like about it. Dont like, ect. Also, what's your favorite song?
Mine would have to be Knights of Cydonia, although the hammer ons and pull-offs section is a paint in the ass.

Well, so far I am really enjoying GHIII, although there are some very obvious bugs and other distractors.
My biggest complaint would be the reduction of the fret / indicator area. It looks like they lengthened the guitar neck to expose more frets, which was good, but if you look at the width of the score, neck and audience meters together, they left a pretty big margin on the left and right of the screen. The result is that the score and audience meters are pretty small. If they had used that extra space, they could have made them bigger.
Second, the lack of bright visual cues for the audience meter is strange. It doesn't give much of a warning at all when you dip below a certain level. So far the only time it's been important to me was during the duels, but regardless, the earlier GH games had lighted visual cues to warn you.
It looks like they reduced the visuals considerably; the animations are more disjointed and limited, except for the actual guitar hero avatar (whichever one you chose). If you watch the drummer, for example, he looks like a cymbal monkey half of the time.
The venues are okay, but nothing to get excited about.
Now, it's clear that the reason they reduced the visuals was to pack more songs into the game and I have no complaints about that!
The bugs I was referring to occur at random intervals; for example, when the "You Rock!" comes up at the end of a set and spins off the stage, sometimes the K or Y doesn't spin all the way off. So you have an inverted Y or K stuck on the corner of the screen for a little bit while it cycles through the animations until you actually go into your next set. Just a minor annoyance, but still a bug.
Then of course there are the jigs and jars on the fret board during some of the longest songs, like Knights of Cydonia. At one point in the song, every time, the notes stutter just briefly. It doesn't really affect your ability to hit the notes, but it's a little strange. I've seen it in player-created tablatures for modded PS2s, but not in the actual games.
The only complaint I have about the hammer-ons and pull-offs is that in some songs they put them in the strangest places, like in between long sustained notes. I mean, that is the time you definitely don't need a hammer-on, you have plenty of time to hit the notes as they come up.
Overall I think the one thing they did much better was note-matching. It felt like if I knew the song, it was easier to anticipate and hit the upcoming notes because I knew a note should be there.
Besides the minor visual bugs and the lack of use of screen space and visual cues on the meters, I am really enjoying GHIII. The song selection is outstanding, although personally I could do without Rain of Blood by Slayer. I'm not sure I really have a favorite because there are so many; it would be a toss-up between a couple songs.

ok glad to see i wasnt going crazy when i thought the fretboard was resized too.
its a good game so far ,and the other guy hit almost everything right on the head but its a guitar game so im not all that worried about if the singers mouth doesnt close in perfect timing to the song.
Also to me ( maybe just being that i suck )i find that hard level is much harder on gh3 than it was on GH2.
Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups.
