RoK NDA lifted as of 11/09

VirgoThreeVirgoThree Member UncommonPosts: 1,198

I'm surprised no one has mentioned this earlier? I saw this when it was first posted on their webpage, but I guess I'll make a thread about it. Anyhow the NDA is lifted on RoK expansion beta. So if any of the beta testers to share, please do so.

Here is the link to the article on EQ2players.com

Also note that it says you can only speak of game content and features.

What do you want to know? It was absolutely a BLAST beta testing all the zones and actually got to first run some raid zones. All I have to say is brilliant, absolutely brilliant. Best expansion of any game ever. I still think there will be some bugs on release, but 90% of them are not that big of a deal. The zones are HUGE. Just imagine how the commonlands and antonica zones are 2 maps, these zones are up to 6 maps with no zoning at all, except into instances. You'll HAVE to quest, it's a solo quest, for a sokokar right away as it takes forever to travel without one (it's the rok equivalent to the griffon towers).

Combat has changed a bit. New AA window. New factions. Some of the raid zones have group equivalents. It's quite the expansion I must say. The new armor sets are great looking. There are twice as many choices for armor sets than in EoF. The weapons are impressive. The whole look and feeling of the zones and the ambience is exceptional.

O, please some one post there impressions on RoK. I am a MMO fan but my wallet only affords me to pay for 1 or 2 a month. I am playing a couple great games now, having cancelled EQ2 last month, debating on which ones to pay for this month. What a/b new player housing, the new city, graphics, music, etc etc..

I'm rather excited for this expansion. Although my highest toon is only level 51, but it didn't take me to long to reach that level. I'm very motivated to reach the higher tier zones just for RoK

It really isn't major at all... yet.

    Facts (What's already happened):

You'll notice you'll be missing some upgrades. I didn't get upgrades for 4 of my skills as a Swashy. Also you'll notice one of your new skills/spells will be a reactive skill. If X happens, you can do Y. Mine is Sleight of Hand, which actually allow me to switch hate positions with anyone in a group/raid. So if I want to take agro, I can SoH the tank and now I have agro, OR if I have agro, I can SoH the tank and now the tank has agro. It works both ways. So if Magenewb takes agro, I can take it from him before he dies, and then Hideaway to give it back to the tank, or wait until the tank regains control.

40 new AA's to expand my achievements to allow more choices in advancements. Also, the racial traits of all the different races have changed. A couple of these traits are very decent attack skills that only your race can perform. Like Sarnaks get a breath weapon. Wood elves get a aoe fire attack. And so on.

You will also get a house item in RoK that will let you set up 2 different AA setups that you can go to your room and switch AA setups between these 2 any time. If you have a solo setup and a group setup, you can say, "Well, I feel like soloing today, so I'll go with my solo setup" or vice versa.

In mounted combat, you can now actually dismount your enemy. Yes, you can actually throw npc's off their mounts. I don't think this has been instituted for pvp combat... yet.

    Rumors:

That they'll be going to 10 level increments for spell/skill progression. That they'll be expanding the AA's to let players be able to add whatever skills they want through AA choices. For example: They could reduce the skill/spell progression to only about a dozen choices. Just the standard fair for the class, like rogues get damage attacks and backstabs, warriors get damage attacks and taunts, healers get spell and heals, and mages get spells for damage and/or utility for their class. Then put more importance into AA's for the special attacks and spells that players can pick with points. This is only a rumor and would not come into fruition for a very long time, but we're starting to see the beginnings of this type of combat progression.
