I, like many of you, loved the original JG.  Its a bit too dated now to justify the monthly sub, IMHO.   However, you folks at ND can rest assured all us old timers WILL be back  

EVE is bleh IMHO because it's economy is F.U.B.A.R. and there is no real skill involved beyond how many credits you have gained.

JG however, you needed SKILLZ

Having never played JG before, it looks like something I would be interested in though.  I agree with the statements about Eve, the worlds largest spreadsheet simulator. Can't wait for release.

We all have our opinions, but I am gonna disagree on the EVE stuff too. I can't remember the last time I used a joystick to play a game. It should be a blast.

I have my old force feedback Saitek around here somewhere, but its been so long since I've used it that I think I might not bother to set it up again...all those wires <shudder> No, I think I might try hooking up my xbox 360 controller. After reading the official forums where it says you can set the game up to play WASD, joystick, keyboard etc or any combo of the three, I think the controller's two sticks might work a treat.

I was pleased to read that we can switch the way the ships use thrust... like auto breaking or the way a ship keeps going in the same direction unless thrust is applied in the opposite direction. This would be very cool when being pursued. Just roll ship and while you coast blow crap out of your pursuer.

I'm an original JG'er myself.  I haven't had any reason to use my joystick since then.  I hope it still works when I dust it off!

I was always pretty rubbish at combat on classic, so think I'll see just how rubbish I am at mse/kb before making the plunge with a stick.

As I recall, some of the best PvPers in JG swear by mouse/kb.  I believe Rollio, who's name still bring shudders today, was a m/kb'er

I think you're right, although I do remember the arguments on the forums about which was best.  I did borrow a friends stick once, but mouse/kb was so ingrained in my mind that I found it really tricky.
 
I was always completly useless at PvP anyway, so mse/kb was fine for mioning and towing.
