As much as I hate Michael Moore, I enjoyed the short.
I have been to Oslo, Norway.
It's an immaculate city and everything I saw in that video I could fully believe. The place was gorgeous and the people (and cops) were incredibly nice and friendly. Also, everybody spoke perfect English, better than a lot of native English speakers. . .
Norway does look like a great place to live, but doing just a few minutes of research it was easy to find out how shamelessly Michael Moore was distorting facts. So I'd take anything that guy has to say with a grain of salt.
First - Norway's tax rates are very close to double those of the United States. But what is probably far more important is that Norway's small economy is currently being largely subsidized by petro dollars. What will happen when that gravy train runs dry?
Second - I'm ashamed how the US has come to have (I believe) the highest per capita prison population on the face of the planet. But I did find it somewhat creepy - not laudable - that Norway will take a murderer and basically greet him with a friendly smile and send him off to summer camp. Also, with respect to murder rates, Norway has a fairly homogeneous, well educated population. Whereas a country like the US has to deal with large groups of peoples where crime, ignorance, and predisposition to low intelligence are deeply ingrained.
Third - Moore states that Norway ranks #1 on the 'Human Development Index', and that the US ranks #64. Flat out incorrect, and grossly so. The US ranks #8th.

Whereas I agree with the other things you said, however - they meant the US ranks 66th for having women in government, not the HDI.

I'll take a Constitutional Republic over a Socialistic system any day. There are some very appealing aspects to Norway, but at the same time I really enjoy our Liberties here.

You like taking the libertie with your right to privacy and other such 'American' ideas
From what i hear your country is fast losing its Polished image with its recent changes to a police state.

Please tell me which liberties you enjoy. I live in Denmark, which to some extend is like Norway. High taxes don't bother me that much when I consider what I get in return. Well, maybe I don't get it all return but it doesn't really bother me that much. Having a government that can provide a security that ensures you don't fall that low is something I find very important and is appealing.
Please note I'm not going into a debate about which system is better, I'm just curious about why you think a socialistic system isn't that good
... the only reason they drink is to save the planet... LOL I loved that line.
The difference between those who enjoy a Republic or a Democracy and those who enjoy Socialism is that one desires freedom over security, while the other desires security over freedom. Socialists are content to be secure and those who advocate a true Democracy are content to be free. It depends on your preference. Both forms of government have potential disadvantages. A true Democracy can only be achieved by political nihilism, and the head of a Socialist state has the potential to abuse his power and thus the citizens under his watch. I could be for either or any form of government as long as it has at its head or governing body capable rulers whose interests are those of the people.

4 year sentance for cutting 2 people up with a chainsaw? and he gets to work and play outside? Im moving to Norway and im going to be a serial murderer. Seriously im sure the families of those victims are loving that.
the whole idea is that people in norway dont think like that, they are content with their lives
Giving birth is a burden on the world. This is according to British born, Toni Vernelli, 35, who had an abortion 10 years ago to ensure her carbon footprint would be kept to a minimum, the U.K.'s Daily Mail reported Sunday.
Vernelli -- who works for an environmental charity -- was later sterilized to help "protect the planet", the Mail reported.
"Having children is selfish. It's all about maintaining your genetic line at the expense of the planet," Vernelli told the Daily Mail, adding she believes bringing new life into the world only adds to the problem.

The Mail also reported that Sara Irving, 31, also underwent sterilization to because she felt "a baby would pollute the planet".
Irving’s become an environmentalist as a teenager, it was reported, when she realized saving the environment was her top and foremost priority in life. After going through several boyfriends she finally found her now husband Mark Hudson who is also an advocate of the ‘no kid’s policy’, according to the Mail.
Need I say more.....

Im assuming that was sarcastic. If i could kill 2 people and only get 4 years... i might actually do it cause i got a few people in mind :P... its that tempting! After all they would probably hook me up with a job thats more pleasant then my own . picking potatos sounds like a pretty cool job.
I say an eye for a eye, if you take a life then yours should be taken too.
BTW do you live in texas? lol DEATH PENALTY FTW!!!!!

As if the number of women in government was a worthwhile measure of how great a country is. If Hillary gets elected I'm sure it'll elevate this country to a level that nobody ever imagined...oh wait, no it won't, it'll do the opposite.

China really isn't much of a Soclialist Country anymore, its not like the government has absolute control on the people. Also it hasn't had the possibility of corruption yet. Mao isn't dead. Its never the founder who is most corrupt, they are usually very popular by the people and practically voted democratically to lead for the rest of thier lives; its the ones that follow that bring down a socialist state.
Proof why socialist government is weak ---> USSR, North Korea, and China.
Neither of those countries are communist. They are totalitarian dictatorships that give themselves the name "communist". Just like the totalitarian dictatorship of Congo calls itself the "Democratic Republic of Congo" despite it being neither a democracy or a republic.
Seriously, do the research before you start throwing around ignorance. Are you gonna try and tell me Cuba is communist as well?

Rewatch the film, he, quietly, says that he spent his REMAINING 4 years at that "camp ground". His actual term was probably more closer to 10-15 years as is customary in most westernized nations.
